Guys, It's a Nightmare to cancel my membership with Edge. Short story, I signed up in May 2022, finished a year term for May 2023. Then they told me I need 30 day notice, then they will charge me for one month extra (which is fine.) I provided notice in June 2023, I thought I am finally done by July 2023. But they said they processed it in July, so I am responsible for July and August - even though I am not using it for almost 3 months.. this is crazy. I had to cancel my cards and close bank accounts...

Gym appearance is clean, spacious and had a variety of options. Members can do personal or group training , cardio and there's evened a cinema in the back. Fitness oriented feel to the gym.

The manager and sales staff tell lies to get you to sign up for the membership. Force you into higher plans that you wouldn’t need. If you ever have to cancel they make you go through 75 hoops just so they can continue taking your money. Edge fitness and this orange location is a scam. Highly don’t recommend. Don’t be fooled by the low prices they advertise. They just gonna scam it all away.

I’ve been going to this gym ever since it opened and I love it, but recently we are seeing gym members being allowed to workout in flip-flops and crocs; did the gym policies change? Also some of the staff at the shake bar give attitudes when ordering shakes, some of them even walk away from the bar when they see us approaching or pretend to be on the phone for minutes just to avoid making that shake. All they do they do is sit on their phones and not attending to customers. You could be seating at the bar for minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge you. None of these new staffs go around racking the weights back. Please do something! This is really not cool.

Staff doesn’t enforce any of their “rules”. People leave weights on bars, dumbbells on the floor & just walk away. Zero gym etiquette here. If just one of their staff walked around and politely corrected people this gym would be a lot better. It’s already busy even during non-peak hours, the rest just adds to the 1 star.

Great facility, great staff, great classes. Machines are well maintained, clean and relatively plentiful. Truth be told, it can be pricey, but if you're serious and dedicated you can find a way to budget and make it work. Actually, budgeting is a big part of it as the staff is knowledgeable in how you need to budget not only time and training but your nutrition to get the results you're after. Definitely worth it, in this reviewers opinion.

Decent gym with a few solid workers. It seems like the good staff don't last long. I've been asking for weeks to know what the new operation hours would be, but corporate never responds and no one at the desk knows anything. After being part of this gym for last 5 years, I might be calling it quits this summer. The communication has been horrible. I see why people have been leaving this place and joining smaller gyms.

BUYER BE WARNED!!! IMPOSSIBLE TO GET OUT OF A CONTRACT!! I truly can't believe the customer service of this company. If I could give 0 stars I would. My girlfriend and I recently paid for a membership, and we then found out we would be moving halfway across the country for work. We immediately contacted Edge's email service to cancel our contract (which is within their stipulations for canceling, moving, or medical reasons). They then required proof, so we sent our signed lease. They said the lease was not acceptable because the signature of the lessor was not a physical one. We are moving halfway across the country!!! so of course, the signature would not be a physical one. There is no reason we should be jumping through all these hoops for this company!!! We tried to be proactive and responsible regarding our membership and they are making it next to impossible.

Clean gym for the most part. Cleaning staff is very active and there are plenty of cleaning stations placed throughout. My biggest issue is that people constantly violate mask guidelines here and nothing is done about it. Here we are a year into the pandemic, and customers wear masks inappropriately, not covering their nose and/or mouth, yet staff does nothing. They claim staff goes around to do mask checks, yet I've never seen a single correction being made in the past 7 months I've been coming here. Especially on the treadmills, which are right next to the customer service desk where multiple staff stand. People running wearing masks incorrectly, yet nothing is done. I even witnessed someone wearing no mask at all, but staff did nothing! Sad when this place cares more about your money than safety.

I joined back in the summer of 2020 when they reopened gym after covid first hit. It was great but too far away from where I live (in NY) so I cancelled after a year. A year later after moving a little closer (but still in NY) I decided to rejoin since I loved the equipment at the Greenwich location. I wish I would of checked the gym out first before rejoining. It is over crowded with teenagers who work out in groups of 5 in this already small location- and canceling the membership has been a complete nightmare. They refuse to cancel my membership and claim according to my contract they cannot cancel. Even though there are no guidelines in my contract that say I cannot cancel. They won't even freeze the membership unless you have a medical notice or are in the military. My advice is do not join this place, save your money and go else where.

I use to Love this gym but as soon as you cancel your membership they hit you with all these fees. And everytime I asked someone about contracts or different memberships none of them seemed to know anything. I had to call other edges or edge members to find out information. They charge you 50 bucks yearly fees even if you cancelling this place is a rip off

Went to sign up and had one employee at front desk and no one else around to do it. He said he’d be with me next and continued to wait on fixing shakes for other customers. A Saturday as busy as it was just had one employee working. No one else to sign new memebers. I will not be back. Too many other gyms I can join. Sad. Poor customer service.!

The only fitness the Edge cares about is the fitness of your bank account. They have no interest in working with members still financially struggling due to COVID. On top of the monthly fees they refuse to release us from, my wife paid $400 for a month of personal trainer time. Since the COVID shutdown, the trainer my wife was working with, left the Edge to join the Armed Services. Now there is no refund. It’s either pick somebody else on not, either was, NO REFUND. That smile you see when you come in is the dollars they see going into their pockets.

Two months ago I renewed my membership. One of the male manager there helped me and told me that you got your membership renewed but today I found that he never did it. I made two calls today but he didn’t answer the phone. Then I went there in person. He was not recognizing me either. When I asked him about my renewal, he asked my information, then he checked the computer and told me that I got nothing for you. We didn’t renew your membership. I told him that on that day I came to you , you made me to sign 4 times on the computer pad , and now you telling me that my renewal never happened. He denied and put all the blames on me. I surprised and disappointed. Hence, I canceled my membership today because I couldn’t trust them with my financial institutions. Also very poor customer service. 0 star.

Came with another member but was unaware that his membership only allowed him to workout in one location , guy at the front had an attitude and we’re basically asked to either upgrade (even though he lives on the other side of town) or pay 15$ for the day - the monthly membership is 10$ . If he wanted to let us in he would’ve , but since he wanted to a jerk he made my friend pay . As we were walking we both said “ New gym it is!” If he had better manners and had a nicer attitude the 15$ would’ve been paid either way and we would’ve left with a good experience . If your expecting an inclusive friendly gym don’t join - not it

The Edge in Orange has been my home away from home for several years. It has been a part of my daily routine as well as my escape, especially after the pandemic. Zumba has always been a great cardio tool for me, and I love having access to so many multiple classes and instructors. I have also been a training client for 3 years. In addition to working with two amazing trainers one on one, those who teach the Strength classes are just as fantastic. The staff truly takes the time to get to know their clients. They respect both the success of their clients' physical gains, but also the compassion in taking the time to listen when there is a question or concern. There really is something family-like about the staff and its members in the Orange location of The Edge.

I thought this was an OK gym until I went to cancel my membership due to COVID 19. I'm a high risk person so I decided to cancel my membership to save money since I lost my job. They still want to charge me the yearly fee even though I'm not stepping foot inside the gym. How ethical is that? I've had multiple family members die due to this pandemic and I take it very seriously. The guy over the phone told me it's a fee because I want to cancel my membership and they're not going to waive it or prorate it. I will be reaching out the Better Business Bureau and would never recommend them to anyone. All they care about is money.

In spite of being closed down for months they still want to charge the yearly fee of 50 dollars, redicoulous concept and don't signs up without knowing everything, you can't cancel your menwbr ship unless you have zero money and proof of that or you basically have to be dead for them to cancel a memeber ship before the required time. Which by the way they fail to tell you your coontract length about 80 percent of the time. Terrible service

This place is good. I do like it there, but going there at 7AM and having that horrible music playing at an incredible volume has made me leave early my past 4 sessions cause I can’t hear myself think!! I’ve said something to the employees but I kinda get shrugged off. It makes me not want to go there anymore.

Predatory Contract sign , They make it impossible to cancel the gym membership . Even after you mail them . I am moving to a new state and they are asking all kinds of document just cancel membership. IF CANCELING CONTRACT WAS THIS COMPLICATED THEN SHOUDNT STAFF METION THIS WHEN GETTING MEMBERSHIP ???. They purposely dont tell you that.

Dirty gym. Scam artists. Try to cancel and they start hitting you with annual fees. They purposely delay communication to get you past arbitrary 30 day periods to charge you even more money. I tried to cancel April 30th and they charged me a yearly fee on may 2, clearly outside the 30 day mark. Makes no sense. Plenty of better options in the area anyway. Avoid at all costs.

For those talking about difficulties when trying to cancel their membership and being charged extra, you are right. The exact same thing happened to me at edge in Hamden Connecticut . This company overall is a scam when it comes to you wanting to leave them. I was advised to go to planet fitness.initially, I thought it was something about the location but reading your experience ( am turning around). I was ask to send proof of traveling and at the same time they were not responding to my request. A total disaster.

Not happy in the way the Location Manager in Orange conducts business. I informed her that I was overcharged a lot of money and she did not care to do anything about it to make things right. As a result of very poor service and a lack of communication, this gym lost a paying member.

Extremely rude, incompetent staff. Misleading sales tactics. Did not offer a solution to a mistake they made themselves that has cost me money and turned me away at the door. I had been going here for a year and have never really been impressed by the service or quality of the equipment to begin with. Now I know for sure that I'll never step foot in an Edge location again thanks to the awful associates that work here.

This is the worst place you can ever go, I called and canceled my membership 2 months ago. I went in person and the guy in the front told me to call them and cancel and I did and now two months later I get charged twice and when I call to see what is going on the lady on the phone tells me you need to send an email! Even tho they had me on the phone record saying I want to cancel! This is crazy customer service! YOU NEED TO TRAIN The people that work for you probably. Now I can’t get a refund when it wasn’t even my fault!

Perfect example of bait and switch. When I joined this gym all women were able to use the women's only room. It was then reduced to the two highest paying tier of the membership plans. Now a few years later one must pay for the privilege of using the ladies only room, unless at the highest tier. If previous members were grandfathered into the usage of the room, I would lament the new members loss of access. However it's very upsetting as a 4 year member of this gym to see the value of my membership whittled down to nothing and being held at gunpoint to pay for benefits, that upon joining was free.......I left LA Fitness for what I thought was a better deal, alas I was wrong and a victim to The Edge's practice of "bait and switch".

Rather than going around and checking on members wearing their mask correctly the staff members are all enclosed at the reception barely greeting members and using their personal devices all the time. I approached a staff member to let them know about some members not wearing mask correctly they apologized and did not do anything about it. Wake up Edge you are paying your staff members to work, not to look pretty and cool behind a counter. There’s cleaning to do, greetings to do, make sure everyone is wearing mask correctly and following cdc regulation, we don’t want to see our gym closed because of irresponsible members not complying or following rules. And please do not apologize after you read this email cus I read a lot of reviews and this is all what the edge does. We need actions not apologies.

The manager and sales staff straight up lie to get you to sign up for the membership. They don’t show you any paperwork or agreement, and force you into higher plans that you wouldn’t need. If you ever have to cancel they make you go through many hoops just so they can continue taking your money, and they lack any communication/purposely stall in order to continue charging you. I was moving, and sent them bank statements as proof for cancellation. They purposely stalled in responding to my email to be able to charge me for another month and some random extra annual charge, and requested additional proof. I sent them another bank statement that said the exact same thing, and they only accepted it after a certain time period so that they could scam me into paying more. Especially if you’re a student, they’ll straight up lie to make you sign, and once they have your information they’ll continue to charge regardless of what they say. This entire operation is a massive scam. Highly don’t recommend, it’s not worth going here. It’s much better to go to planet fitness or any other more reliable gym. Trust me, Don’t be fooled by the low prices they advertise, they’re going to take your money.

Just finished my first Mat Pilates class in Orange CT, and it was fantastic! Karen Ryan is an excellent instructor. Karen's teaching method helped me stay aware of my body position and which muscles I should be feeling during the movements. I left feeling fantastic. I hope The Edge can add more Mat Pilates in Orange.

I've been seeing the reviews lately and I even looked in the gym myself, I've got to say I'm a bit sad to see such a good gym sink so low as to back stab the costumer's I even ran into some of them being so far as RAGEFUL at this place, I'm looking for gyms to go to in order to improve, instead I run into a gym where I'm risking my hard work and money and I'm not even a full adult yet, if you're planning to go here? Think before making this choice. (I just want a fair decent budget paid gym once a month. Not a scam)

This club is disgusting. People don’t wipe down the equipment when they’re done using it, and there is absolutely no cleaning staff anywhere. I wiped a bench down when I was done using it, and the wipe was BROWN. soooo nasty.

Good, clean facilities, the cardio cinema is great, they're always playing good movies in there. Lots of great equipment and space to do just about any exercise you want. Friendly staff. I was really upset because I spent this quarantine unable to utilize my membership because I was a student who registered at the orange location due to living on campus. Yet when I called to see if I can transfer my membership I was passed around like a hot potato from on person to the next and they were not handling it correctly. I was even told the tranfer was done and when i arrived at the new location they gave me nonsense. however I give this a 4 only because L Pattyson was fantastic and needs a raise because she got to the problem right away and took care of me! thank you for understanding and helping me :)

They take forever to fix broken equipment. Only a pair of weight handles, so you have to walk around searching for a handle. Some of the sanitation stations have been removed.

There is not an option for negative star or else I would have gave negative. The management is not good, they are not guiding properly regarding how to cancel the membership and they just deduct amount from the card on the file.

  • 1/5 Kemecia A. 2 years ago on Google
Front desk staff are awesome thou. Management really needs to be retrained. It's like you go in for help with one thing and no one is able to help. They'll say, "wait for the GM," and when you go to her it's useless. I've been with the edge since 2012 and the last few months have been the worst thus far. Please ensure they give you a hard copy of the contract which is 2pages, don't let them tell you it's one page, because it took 3 days for me to get the email and by that time it's considered late. I spend more time going to the gym to fix stuff than to actually workout these last 2 weeks.

The Edge in orange,CT: They maintain their womans sauna @ 90 degrees with signs posted telling you not to mess with the thermostat. 90° is a warm day at best. It's not a sauna. And the tv was not working. 2 stars because the staff was really nice

Gets very busy but this club has a premium feel. For a 10$ membership you get access to well maintained machines and a solid team of prompt and customer oriented folks

I love this place but few days ago I had a conversation over the phone with Chris about my membership and he was SO rude. I know he doest represent the ppl work there.

Edge Fitness is a great gym but if you want to cancel the membership they will give you a hard time and you are require to submit Doctor's note. Take this as a consideration before signing up. JS

I’m going to miss this gym so much! 😢 I am moving away to Massachusetts and cannot find a gym as good as this one. I have the membership where I could go to all locations which was very convenient and worth it for me. Staff in all the locations I have found to be very nice. I even developed friendships with some. I highly highly recommend this gym! As each gym is managed by someone different I think experience for members will different gym to gym, my overall experience with the Edge Fitness Clubs as a whole and it’s perks has been very good. It will be missed!

This facility is simple and nice. They have massage machine too, I can wait relaxing with it if i need to wait for my partner or friends. Only one thing I ask them is assuming foreigners visit.

Big gym never feels too crowded and has plenty of solid equipment. Very clean facilities and friendly staff.

Overall large gym with a lot of natural light and amenities the only thing that sucks is both there massage chairs are broken then the water bed massagers are weak it feels like just having a warm rag against your back which is sorta important for me as blue collar worker to warm up with light cardio hit the massager do heavy weight lifting then go in the sauna it sucks because those massage chairs helped pull me out of physical therapy

Edge fitness centers are good and big. This has lot of space and variety of gym equipments. But the problem here is it’s always over crowded. Some times we have to wait to get the machines and gym equipments

Malik is very professional, educated, and over the top with customer satisfaction. Honestly he should be the one managing the gym.

Very happy with The Edge Fitness Clubs throughout the East Coast! Always clean along with friendly staff. The only complaint is that my wife and I left LA Fitness after 20 years for a 24 hour club that looked like exactly what would meet both of our needs. Understanding the struggles through Covid with hours and staffing we understood! But now since things have leveled out and more clubs have opened in the surrounding areas our gym opens at 5 am and sometimes 15 earlier with other newer locations opening T 4 am. Today I counted 32 cars in the parking lot at 450 am, understanding new members are signing up daily, this location being the first in the area to open should be honoring at least a 4 am opening time.I hope this issue could be addressed and return to a 5 star gym. Thank you

I have been going to the edge orange for a really long time now. It has always been a great environment and gym community like no other. My fitness journey started with training with Dylan Turner (trainer ant the edge) and he has helped me find my passion and love for working out at the gym. Ever since then, I have been progressing so much! I’m always at the gym now! The staff is always welcoming and super nice. The Edge of Orange is literally a second home for me.

The gym has amazing equipment. Anything from machines to free barbells. As a bonus, they have bumper plates and weightlifting/ deadlift platforms for those looking to lift heavy. In addition, the staff is super friendly and will make you feel at home. The training program they have is amazing as well, where they adjust it to your goals. As an example, I’m getting into the groove of weightlifting and Esteban has developed a program to increase my strength and explosiveness for snatches and cleans.

The employees at edge fitness in orange are a bunch of liars. I was told I can cancel at anytime but that’s not true. Now, I have to pay for a membership I don’t use at all.

Too less pairs of basic weighted dumbbells, also there is no any equipment for forarms. They ask you to pay more for massage chair, but people with basic plan also use that. They don't make a watch on that. May be lack of management.

😐 I think the employees need to keep the place cleaner than what they're not. I noticed we all clean up the machines as we first get on and when we're finished using it, looks like that's the ONLY cleaning they get. They need to be dusted big time! The employees there could be rude and unprofessional...

👍 I haven't been to the gym for a long time. Since it's the closest, I chose this gym to restart exercising as a senior citizen. After a couple weeks, it has not disappointed me... 😠 Staff are helpful although the gym itself is highly outdated. There is RUST and pain PEELING OFF while the seats are also showing considerable wear and tear.
