The restaurant was decent. A reservation is for sure required it was very busy the night we went. Caters to tourists. As a whole it was decent but it was pretty expensive, as most of the things on the island are. The staff was very friendly. They did have house wine by the carafe which was great. The catch of the day is what I would recommend to eat if you go they have different seasonings for it. I chose garlic butter but there were lots of others. A meal for two people with wine and tip with apps was about 140$. I would probably not return here.

Delish fish (go for the catch of the day), the pan bati (Aruban cornbread) will hook you and the flan was perfect. If you go early enough (before 7) you won’t need a reservation.

The food was good, I asked about the crab cakes to see if they were fresh, but it was canned. Any restaurant near the ocean should not have any type of canned seafood especially for the price. The lobster was really good. But in my opinion, everything was really high priced. I can be wrong but I thought prices would be cheaper. It just as much or even a little more than the US. Good one time place. Service was really good

Booked a 4-hour deep fishing trip in the morning. The Driftwood I captained by Francis and his deck hands Neomar and Kyle were great! Fishing was slow at first but then we went on a steak half way through the trip catching 6 all together, including several beautiful mahi, a Bonita and a lizard fish. Our fish were brought to the restaurant where the chef prepared it 4 ways and it was awesome! Nothing better than enjoying fresh fish caught by you! Atmosphere and service at the restaurant was great! Glad we decided to do it!

I came in over dressed. So come casual and comfortable. The food is well seasoned and the portions are good. Service is fairly fast. The drinks are strong so if you can’t handle your liquor drink water lol I was disappointed in the lobster, fish & shrimp Thermidor because I got one jumbo shrimp and 2 small chunks of lobster. The rest was fish.

Nicely decorated restaurants with festive lightings and cozy ambiance. The Catch of Day (Wahoo) was okay; the overcooked fish was slightly rigid, but the Captain's Mix was good. Service was great and staff were friendly.

TOURIST TRAP & here's why: Fish and shrimp is straight from the freezer. Charging $34 for FOUR pieces of shrimp is criminal. $39 for two pieces of fried fish and 4 pieces of shrimp would be excused if it actually tastes good. Spent $110 on a dinner for two and didn't even enjoy it. Unfortunately, the flavor profile here is lacking. No seasonings whatsoever. The fish was hard and felt over cooked. The fish also came out lukewarm. Ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer. They bring out THREE pieces of shrimp. $16? The seafood pasta tasted okay. We asked to replace the scallions with more shrimp instead. Look at the picture... There's two shrimp in the dish. I regret spending my money here. I don't like being taken advantage of when dining out. Recommend you to go somewhere else.

Beautiful inside, very rustic and authentic. Service is lovely and food was great. Didn’t take photos while there, but this photo is from my leftovers the following day. Taste just as great, reheated over pantry. Paired very well with a glass of Chardonnay.

Interested in one of the best Seafood on the island, be sure to visit Driftwood. It is centrally located in downtown Oranjestad. Ask for the catch of the day and just indicate to the server how you want. They will be sure to amaze you.

My lobster was good. My strawberry martini was too sweet even though I requested no syrup. After we ordered our lobster, other guests came in sat next to our table. They told us about the holiday menu and it had a set price menu. Which is a better deal, dinner set with 3 course menu. It was not offer to us because we had no knowledge about it. One lady came out with our appetizers and I ask her if I can change to the next table that it was empty at the time of request because our table was cramp. She told us, she will ask and see if possible. Came back never mentioned anything. Liked I never had asked or spoken about my table change. Never acknowledged us as she passed in and out. We didn't want to make a big deal and diminished our mood. Definitely will not come back!!!!! Unless they improve services.

The experience from the restaurant was phenomenal. They took the fish that we caught from the charter earlier that day and made it into four different styles. I can’t speak on the regular menu but the way they prepared the fish that we caught on the charter was awesome.

Local restaurant in Aruba. Very good food, especially the bread. We had a large group and ordered different things, but we were all very satisfied with our choices. Stop in and try their food.

So the wife and I were recommended to come to this restaurant and as expected, we were not disappointed. We left highly satisfied and well nourished. Upon coming in, we were immediately greeted and taken to our seat right away and given a menu that had great selections of seafood and steak. The Red Snapper that I ordered was cooked to perfection and the Lobster and Steak that my wife ordered was pleasantly tasteful. This establishment was getting full to capacity rather quickly and lucky for us, we were able to get in without a reservation, which is highly suggested. I recommend others to visit and support this great restaurant.

This restaurant had a lot of hype but we found it just….ok. Lots of staff standing around and yet it took forever to get our food & check. The fish was a bit bland & we had better funchi in other places.

I wish I had visited sooner. I have been vacationing to Aruba for years and never tried Driftwood until recently. We found out about the restaurant from our fishing trip that we chartered on one of their boats earlier in the day. We have a killer day catching many fish. Our captain mentioned that at a low price we can have our fish professionally prepared at their restaurant later that evening for a discounted rate. I figured, what the hell, what's a few more dollars. Boy was I blown out of the water! They prepared our Fresh catches multiple ways with dipping sauces that were paired specifically with the Wahoo and the Tuna. Not to mention the plating was a culinary masterpiece. The ambiance of the restaurant added to our experience with a cozy, friendly atmosphere. The waiting staff was professional and our drinks were strong. 5 star experience. Highly recommend both the restaurant and they're fishing charters. What an experience!

Ended up here because pretty much every local we came across recommended this place and asked that we make sure to try their escargot. So glad we listened. The escargots are must have!

The food we ordered was not that out of the world. The fish was suppose to be great...but my Salmon that i ordered was dry with a side of butter...i did not expect that and was hoping that if the butter was there it was used on the fish rather than as a side dip. Their sauces were good and the mahi mahi ordered was nice and flavorful. The garlic bread was good.

We were the first customer to come in at 5pm on a Sunday. Although they opened at 5pm they were not completely ready to receive customer yet. But once we got seated the waiter and waitresses were very friendly. Atmosphere was good until a big group was placed right next to our table when the restaurant was pretty empty, would have been better to space out customers esp for couples so they have more quiet space. Food was good, we had a pan fried wahoo and a captains mix. The seafood were fresh.

  • 3/5 Angela A. 3 months ago on Google • 33 reviews New
Atmosphere is a little kitschy but fine. Food was very mediocre. We got the coconut shrimp, escargot, shrimp&fish in garlic sauce and seafood alfredo linguine. COCONUT SHRIMP: Sauce was great but only 3 shrimps so quantity for cost wasn't great. ESCARGOT: flavorless snails with small dollops of mashed potatoes. SEAFOOD ALFREDO LINGUINE: sauce was runny, it had more fish than lobster or shrimp, veggies on the plate seemed like a big batch of steamed veggies, no flavor/spices. Highlight of the meal was the service. ALL OF THE STAFF WERE LOVELY!

I LOVVEED this place. It is more casual so don't worry about being in jeans and a casual top. The setting was just right, the server was so nice and helpful, and the food was some of the best fish I have ever had. I couldn't even eat all of my meal because it was so much and cost only $28.50 US with tax included. Its so worth coming here and is in walking distance to some nice shops.

The Driftwood in Aruba has been in business for a long time in Aruba. It is located in downtown Oranjestad. This restaurant is owned a successful local fisherman. This is a large well managed restaurant that continues to deliver good value for its customers. The staff are very friendly and professional. The menu offers lots of seafood and meat options. The kitchen delivered outstanding food. The prices were in line with the Driftwood’s exceptional performance as a restaurant.

The lamb chops were absolutely PHENOMENAL! I also enjoyed the clam chowder… Driftwood was My favorite restaurant in Aruba during my stay!

The day started with us venturing to the southern end of the island where we sailed on the Driftwood 1 with our wonderful captain, and our first mate Gregory. They both took great care to ensure we had a fun filled and safe adventure. The water was rough but we were rewarded greatly in our voyage. Overall we caught a tiny amberjack, 6 bonito and 2 beautiful wahoo. Later in the evening we dined at the restaurant and got to enjoy our fish prepared in 4 amazing ways. Everyone in the restaurant were extremely kind and helpful especially our waiter Jeiro. When we first decided to do the charter we were both a bit nervous about it but it has definitely been the highlight of our trip and I don't say this often but I really wish I could rate this higher than 5 stars because it certainly deserves it.

Great service and flavorful rack of lamb. I didn’t try the mint sauce but I had garlic sauce on the side . My boyfriend ordered sea bass which he said it was delicious. The Cavit Moscato bottle was $40 which you can’t beat the price compared to ordering a bottle in NYC. The concierge at Renaissance booked a reservation the same day without any issues. I highly recommend dining at Driftwood.

My husband and I walked in and they took us without a reservation and casual clothes. We were walking around and didn’t know this is was a fancier restaurant. The service was great and the food was incredible. We ordered a few appetizers of crab cake, scallops in a butter herb sauce, onion soup, and we were given free garlic bread. For the entree we split the Chilean Sea Bass which came with rice, veggies, and an Aruban corn bread that I forget the name. The seafood was so fresh and we at everything! Highly recommend

This dinner was phenomenal! You will definitely need a reservation requiring a deposit for more than 3 people so keep that in mind. But this was so worth it. Great drinks, amazing food, and not to mention dining with your feet in the ocean while watching the sunset. It was a once in a lifetime dining experience. We recommend dining at 6:00 pm, the sunset was breathtaking.

I came here for a dinner with my girlfriend the experience was good overall I had the catch of the day I can’t recall what fish it was but it lacked in taste it felt as if it wasn’t seasoned. The servers were really nice and I didn’t chose not to complain about the fish but it could of been better my girl had the issue with the fish taste but she drenched it in a butter garlic sauce to make it better. I found this place to be in the more expensive side for price.

  • 5/5 P G. 6 months ago on Google
Our entire experience at Driftwood was wonderful. The menu selection is very good, and our food was delicious. They have the best escargot on the island, and at a very reasonable price. The fish soup is amazing! I love a good, clean fish or seafood soup. Too many restaurants feel the need to add cream to everything. The soup here is very flavorful and loaded with fresh fish… healthy! My garlic shrimp entree was perfectly prepared, tender and “popped” in my mouth. My husband’s crispy fried shrimp was equally beautifully done. I give this restaurant high marks in every aspect once inside the door. My only complaint is trying to park and walk on the sidewalk with heels on. But that is minor.

Casual, nautical setting restaurant that serves large portions of fresh seafood with fast, friendly service. Had the Wahoo with a baked potato and Caramel Cheesecake - yummm. Big Thumbs Up👍

  • 1/5 Alex W. 9 months ago on Google
Let's start with the good. The service started off very good, with friendly staff greeting you, opening doors for you, etc. The atmosphere was great, with actual driftwood everywhere, making the place uniquely looking. My family went there because of the overall good reviews on Google and 2 dollar signs with cheaper dishes. Oh well we were very disappointed. All of the dishes we got, including the garlic bread and the (free) sweet pancake thing we got with our meal were very much from frozen / TV dinner type. The presentations looked way better than how the dishes tasted. My wife got one of the grilled fish dishes with Aruban sauce. The sauce was there to cover the frozen mushy tasting dish underneath. I got the rack of lamb that was supposed to be medium. It came out very rough and very well done, almost gave me the impression it was frozen then microwaved then maybe was put on grill for like 10 seconds to get the char flavor. I don't even remember what my son ordered. He barely touched his food. My younger son got chicken tender from the kids menu. It's very meh. Now back to the service angle. They had a floor manager like person roaming all the tables. He eventually had to take our order because our waitress simply went away after hearing that we only wanted water. She came back exactly once during our 50+ mins of stay, didn't really say anything. The young bus boy who delivered our cooked food even came by twice and was much friendlier than our waitress. At least the floor manager was decent and interactable. We waited 10+ mins for our free dessert that's part of the kids menu and another 10+ mins for a to-go box and our check. 3 nearby tables for much better and faster service than our table. I gotta think it's gotta be the fact that they all ordered wine. I would not recommend anyone to come here. There are much better restaurants nearby. Unless you want to pay $120+ for 2 dishes and 2 kids meals, stay away.

I had the pleasure of dining here with friends. Service was very attentive and friendly. Three of us had the Special menu for $36 for three courses, plus tea or coffee included. Fish soup full of flavor and lots of fish, shrimp cocktail fresh, catch of the day, Barracuda was cooked perfectly, complemented by choice of sauce, recommend mango and garlic sauces, vegetables and potato. Definitely dine here again.

My family went deep sea fishing in Aruba and we were lucky enough to catch some fish. The owner of our boat brought our catch to the Driftwood and they prepared it for us. It was delicious. They prepared it four different ways and it was all we could eat for $17.00 each. Really fun, sweet servers. A very memorable meal.

  • 5/5 Biljana K. 4 months ago on Google
Very busy restaurant but surprisingly fast service! The food was delicious. We had three orders of the same main course but one came with considerably smaller piece of fish. When we made the comment to our server, he instantly took action and we received a new plate with an extra large serving of fish. Everything was very tasty starting with the appetizers, the soup, the main course. We were full and didn’t try the desserts but based on everything we tried, I am sure it would not have disappointed. Great restaurant!

Don't believe the hype. I will say that in the end our waiter really did try to make good for everything, otherwise, what we had was overcooked, unseasoned and simply too small of portion sizes. Our waiter brought me a second severing to make up for it, which is the only reason i gave two stars. Catch of the day was like a piece of leather. We did apps and entre, still was hungry. Ps, place smelled of cleaning products. I hope our waiter finds another gig, because he was the only positive note of this disappointing experience.

The restaurant had a fun aesthetic. The food was excellent and fresh. We ordered a few appetizers, the crab cake and coconut shrimp. You also get a bread basket with the tastiest dipping sauce. I cant remember the name but you might have to ask for it. I think it was Pica-papaya hot sauce. If you like spicy, then this is a must! Also if you can purchase the hot sauce, then do! I regret not buying some.

Found this place online and glad that we did! My wife and I are in Aruba for our honeymoon and this is the best seafood we have both had in a while! Hands down the best Mahi Mahi we have ever had (both of us no stranger to fresh caught Mahi in Florida Keys). We ordered it blackened and it was perfectly moist yet flavorful. Even the simple steamed vegetables and rice/bake potato was delicious. Definitely on our list of places to return to next time we are here! Service was quick, professional, and friendly!
