We lucked out on a Sunday night and got sat right away without a reservation. Very nice people with a very unique menu.. we got the NY strip kabob, the steak was a little under seasoned but the veggies were great. The sushi was nothing like sushi except the shape, very good with the eel sauce and homemade hot sauce. Everyone else liked their meal. Kids pasta and marinara was my fav. Overall pretty pricey with most specials from $40-70. If you are looking for something authentic and off the beaten path, this is a good option!

We came here for dinner around 6:30. Ordered a few appetizers… the calamari was “ok” but the fish croquettes were delicious! What’s even better was our entree. I got the seafood pasta and OMG!! That was the best seafood pasta I’ve ever had. My husband got the chicken parm with penne Alfredo and he also said that his dish was so good. The only thing I can say is that service is a bit slow and there was like 1 waiter throughout the whole place. The owner was very nice and he’s so passionate about his restaurant.

You won’t be disappointed by the food in Aruba if you stay away from the tourist traps and Gostoso is no exception! I find myself saying that “this is the best food” at each restaurant but Gostoso may have taken the crown! All the reviews say the chowder is amazing and it really is! I’m salivating at the thought of it now! We also had the cod special and it was truly amazing! The cherry on top? José, the owner, is a fantastic host! You need to go and eat the best meal you’ll have and you won’t be paying “tourist prices”.

Gostoso was delicious. Probably my favorite meal all week this time around in Aruba. I have been coming to Aruba for over 20 years, this was my first time at Gostoso. Everything from the appetizers, dinners, and desserts were well made and flavorful. The chocolate cake may have been one of the best chocolate cakes I have ever had. We can’t wait to go back!

An absolute 5 star experience. I could not ask for better food or service. Everything we ordered was cooked perfectly, and the flavors were a symphony for the tastebuds. We are extremely happy we found this restaurant. While Aruba does have many fantastic restaurants, you should definitely check this place out. Jose, the owner is extremely hospitable, and he loves what he does. This translates perfectly with the food that is placed in front of you. Service is top notch and everyone is very attentive. Highly recommended. Gostoso is definitely on our go-to list for all of our future visits to Aruba.

This restaurant is on a back street on the edge of downtown so it is easy to miss if you aren't in the know. I've been here 6 different times across the years and have never been disappointed. Its a pretty small space, room for maybe 24-30 people in the whole restaurant which is nice because its a very personal dining experience. You should definitely make a reservation though if you are more than 2 people. The owner Jose has been here every time we've visited as well regardless of the day which is a nice touch. Highly recommended if you want a non commercial real meal to remember. On this visit I had the seafood curry special which was spectacular!

We really enjoyed this quaint restaurant off the beaten path. The cabrito was very tender and not gamey at all. The corvina has the nice grilled, crispy edges while maintaining the flaky inside. You must try the house made salsa...it's incredibly tasty with just a little kick of heat at the end. Definitely worth a visit when on the island!

Portuguese restaurant serving both Portuguese and Arubian dishes. Very friendly staff and excellent food. A bit hard to find perhaps, but it's worth it!

Sandy was our waiter the first night that we came. The food was so good that we came back the very next night and brought another guest with us. This place is owned by the same person who owns Excelencia restaurant which is my favorite restaurant on the island. Their chicken soup is literally to die for (even though the chef at excelencia makes it a little bit better🤫 but you didnt hear that from me lol). My dad said they make the best coconut shrimp he's ever had. And I LOVED their spicy shrimp. Overall, if you don't try this place while in Aruba, you're robbing yourself of a wonderful experience.

At the former location of The Old Fisherman that I loved and the staff lied about having the same cook. Now instead there's a wanna upscale looking place serving bland, supposed tourist pleasing food, ok drinks that had maybe four tables on a Thurs night. The service was annoyingly overly attentive. Avoid as one can get their generic food any where in the world.

The best food on the island. The variety, creativity, attention to detail and excellence in every way. Jose has kept this quality and high standard for the 21 years we've been dining with him. Staff is great too! The best kept secret.

Gostoso is a great restaurant that offers delicious authentic Portuguese/Aruban food. The attention and hospitality offered by Jose (the owner) and the servers was amazing. I would definitely recommend this place for a cozy local experience. You won’t be disappointed.

This restaurant should have 5 stars! The owner Jose greets everyone that comes in like you are family. It’s beautiful and cozy I felt like I was in Europe not Aruba. The food was outstanding, our son was falling asleep and they brought him a pillow. GO HERE

We highly recommend Gostoso for excellent food and service! One of the best meals we had in the island during our week long stay. Try the lentil & pumpkin soups, the seafood platter, the snapper with shrimp, and the chocolate cake for dessert. You won’t be disappointed. We plan to return and recommend to all of our friends.

If you are visiting Aruba, this is the place to eat. Authentic Portuguese/Aruban food. The owner, Jose, greeted and served us. If you are visiting Aruba, I highly recommend you eat at this restaurant. You will not be disappointed! Best meal so far! Great service, great ingredients. Give yourself an unforgettable experience! (PS. Try the Carni Stoba!)

I wish i could give more than 5 stars and I don't say that lightly. From the friendliness of everyone there to the intimate dining experience to the impeccably cooked food-It has become my favorite restaurant on the island. We ordered the sangria after seeing all the positive reviews and it was incredible! I ordered the lenga stoba and it was so perfectly cooked as was the goat my husband ordered- perfection! We met the owner, he was so friendly and really took time to talk with the dining guests making everyone feel welcome and like family. Thanks everyone for an amazing night! We will be back again next year for our anniversary!

Awesome! During our recent trip we were thrilled to find this hidden gem. Gostosos is a delightful restaurant. The owner, Jose, warmly greeted us and the wait staff treated us with great service and attention. The bartender was amazing and we got three rounds of delicious cocktails which seemed to pair perfectly with each course. I ordered the delicious beef soup. It was hearty , flavorful and filling. For dinner we all ordered entrees fom the special menu: Lobster thermidor and Lobster and shrimp Mozambique. Highly recommended! We will be back ! ( We go to Aruba every year).

This place was AMAZING! The best hidden gem on the island. My husband was so skeptical, but once we arrived the ambiance was everything Aruba stands for. We were warmly greeted to a beautifully quaint restaurant that was super clean. Then the specials of the day were described to us detail by detail. One more mouthwatering than the next. The sangria was great. The food was exquisite. Jose was so humble and gracious. Definitely a place to try if you’re in Aruba. It’s also family friendly.

Our favorite restaurant on the island. We eat here at least twice EVERY time we visit Aruba. Jose and staff are amazing and welcome you like family. The food is superb - we have never been disappointed. While the specials change, when Jose has the French pork chop with his onion and pepper sauce, we have to have it. But everything we've had has been delicious. This is a must do!

Gostoso is a humble, pristine, off-the-beaten-path Portuguese restaurant. The owner, Jose is warm and welcoming, describing the numerous specials and answering questions with pride and a huge smile. The menu is incredibly extensive, including seafood, beef, chicken, pastas, etc. One of the absolute best meals we’ve had in Aruba (and great sangria)! Don’t miss Gostoso! We’ll be returning every time we vacation in Aruba.

Restaurant looks nice, service was horrible. We were a group of 19 celebrating our grandmother's 91st bday. Our appetizers took 90 minutes to get served and some people of our party did not get served. Asked for my steak to be cooked medium and got it well done. My wife's salmon was tiny and over seasoned. We complained and no manager nor the chef came to the table. We will not be returning.

Amazing food, attentive waiters, pretty atmosphere. Makes you feel like you’re dining in a fine restaurant. The owner is very accommodating and attentive. They are a relatively new restaurant in Aruba and I hope they soon become a staple for tourists! We’ve recommended this restaurant to family members and friends who have come and had the same experience. The seafood pasta dishes and fish entrees are my favorite. Please support this restaurant, especially now with the pandemic! Would hate to see this delicious, beautiful restaurant not make it. Been here 3x over the last 2 trips to Aruba and nobody in our party was ever disappointed.

Nice choice of wines. Shared the funchi and the calamari for appetizers. The funchi was light crispy and hot, melt in your mouth delicious, and the calamari was tender and crispy. Enjoyed them both! We both had the pina colada coconut shrimp for dinner, with rice and fresh vegetables. The shrimp was tasty but could've been just a bit more cooked. The fresh vegetables were perfectly cooked al dente. The rice was nothing to write about. The service is outstanding. We had live entertainment which was an unexpected delight. We woUld come back and try other dishes.

  • 2/5 William S. 4 years ago on Google
The food was excellent - fresh and delicious if a little overpriced. Everything else was... not good. The atmosphere was the worst part. Over air-conditioned with a faux-fancy vibe, like the server placing my napkin on my lap and someone else filling my water up after almost every single sip - it was all just a little too much; as if they had seen what a fancy restaurant was supposed to look like in a bad 90s sitcom and tried to copy everything about it. There are FAR better (and much cheaper) options for fresh seafood without the pretentious facade that Opus has. Just go to Zeerover's.

We were on our honeymoon, out looking for gifts to take home to the grandkids, when all of a sudden our stomachs starting growling. The lady at the gift shop recommended this place. So, we went looking and there it was. Very nice decor, clean and the guys who met us was very attentive. My bride had the grouper and I had the mahi mahi. I think whoever names fish could have stopped at just one mahi but I don't know anything about naming fish. It took a little while to cone out, but it was cooked fresh so it was to be expected. It was delicious! I didn't stop eating it until it was gone, and I don't eat anything until it's gone. The service was wonderful, we had a nice chat with the young man who filled our water glasses. He was born in Aruba. If you get a chance, stop by and give them a chance. You won't be disappointed.

My husband and I went to opus based off their reviews. We were disappointed. I ordered the filet mignon. First it was forgotten and put on the oven late. Second, I got my food and it was chewy steak that had a tendon running through it. It wasn’t the cut that I ordered or paid for. The service was decent, and the staff seemed to care. They were apologetic but unfortunately we won’t be back. Today when we walked by the shop front there was trash all outside their front steps as well. It wouldn’t take much to turn this place around. I hope they put the time into it.

I ate here this week for dinner after a hotel employee recommended the place. I absolutely loved the food and the staff were wonderful. I ordered the Aruban style grouper and my partner ordered a Portuguese style fish entree and he was able to choose his fish. Another highlight was the homemade hot sauce. I ordered a coconut style flan which was the best I have ever had, not too sweet, just the way I like it. My partner ordered the arroz con leche and it was also delicious. I highly recommend this place.

The food was delicious! The sangria was great we tried both the red and the white, I normally drink red but the white was my favorite. The sauce they have is very tasty too. We were able to purchase a bottle and bring it home with us. The wife of the owner came to our table and gave us some history of the restaurant which was pretty cool too. I would recommend, we stayed at the Renaissance hotel and walked to the restaurant.

Absolutely the best. Their homemade hot sauce is basically crack, it's so good. The seafood medley in curry? *chefs kiss*

Rocky our waiter was fantastic and attentive. The place was very clean. The ambiance elegant. The prices were reasonable. The food, the food... So much flavor packed in a dish, it's truly an experience worth having. If you're a foodie like myself add this to your list of places to eat.

Food is tasty just a litle pricey. You have to have time as service is a litle slow.

The owner is the sweetest guy. If you come during busy time, you have to wait a little for food to be served. Get sangria and enjoy yourself it is definitely worth a while. Would definitely come back to try more items on the menu.

We had an amazing dinner at Gostoso Restaurant on our last night in Aruba. The food was incredible! From the appetizers, the main entrees and the wonderfully prepared sides, to the desserts it was all delicious! The Sangria was so tasty, and the wine and other cocktails were also great. Our party of 5 dinner was toward the end of the evening, and the staff were all welcoming and friendly. Watching Jose interact with all his guests was witnessing someone who truly loves what he does. We found the prices to be very reasonable. I would highly recommend Gostoso Restaurant to anyone looking for good food, great ambiance and just a wonderful dining experience.

This place was such a sweet, fun, and delicious place to eat. The owner is a great guy and the rest of the staff was fantastic as well. The food was top tier (I had the octopus off the grill), rich and well portioned. The white sangria was a lovely drink as well. The price is well worth the food, and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed. I can't recommend this place enough

My wife and I went on Valentine's Day. Lucky we got there early as this place really got packed later that evening. We have been on Aruba for 11 days and this place is far and away my wife's favorite so far. She has already put me on notice to remember this place when we next visit Aruba as she wants to come back.

A treasure within Aruba. It was our last day in Aruba and we were looking for a place to eat. We arrived and was greeted by the owner Jose and his wonderful server Daniela. From the very beginning to the end, we were treated like family and kept accompanied by wonderful conversations with the staff. We have never had an experience as intimate and genuine as we did here. The food is absolutely incredible and the menu is extensive. I couldn’t recommend this place enough, please support a wonderful local restaurant that deserves all the praise and love!

My favorite restaurant in Aruba for 10 years. Red Sangria is a must, and Lentil Soup is delish! Everything they serve is great but my favorite is "Espetada a la Marinera" - Bacon-wrapped-Grouper kebab with veggies and other seafood...this masterpiece dish not only tastes absolutely unbelievable but also looks like a piece of art. I also loved Ravioli with rich Alfredo sauce - heavenly. You can't leave without tasting Desserts. Love Tres Leche, Quesillo di Coco and Tiramisu are all fantastic. On top of great food & cozy atmosphere the best part might be the people. Mr.Jose the owner is very kind, personable and friendly and mighty Rocky is the best waiter on the island. Absolute gem!

Stopped here for lunch after hearing from a few tourists that it was a must stop place for local food, and let me say IT WAS. Ordered the fish chowder and it was the best i’ve ever had. Also tried the local Mango Grouper and it was delcious. Everything is served with their homemade pepper sauce on the side. José the owner was welcoming and so sweet. Service was fast and food was amazing, what else can you ask for? Must visit!!!

A hidden gem on the Island of Aruba! Everything we ordered was perfect. The creamy Alfredo Sauce with Fettuccini and Grilled Chicken is phenomenal. My husband had the Seafood Medley with Coconut Curry was the best meal he’s ever had. My daughter talks about the best Keylime Pie she’s ever had. Jose, the Owner and Rocky came over to talk with us. What a magical experience. The Cappuccino was the perfect ending to our wonderful experience.
