"Hidden in plain sight" gem... Top notch... wonderful ambience with a talented young woman and her guitar singing/playing softly in the background. Comfortable seating/spacing, our waiter, Julian was knowledgeable and presented with a good mix of attention and privacy. The food was delicious, perhaps the best onion soup I've had and definitely the best Escargot my wife has had. The skirt steak & duck were well seasoned, perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. We've eaten in a number of nice restaurants here in Aruba and so far, had our best meals here.

I was really hoping Papillon would be a fabulous place to dine, we were very disappointed. The Sweet Breads, the glands of a cow neck and hart are delicious if cooked properly, Papillons version of the sweet Breads where awful, breaded and cooked to be very tough and uneatable. There lobster 🦞bisque soup was bland and without any seasoning, However there where loads of Lobster in the Soup that was delicious. The French Onion soup was just Plain Jane nothing to write home about. The baked salmon was good, a well Cooked dish. I would not recommend dining at this restaurant, given there are a lot better restaurants in Aruba. Mark

From the reviews of others, we expected more. We had a 7:15 reservation and were seated promptly at that time. Waiter came by with water and gave us ample time to review menu before taking our order. He was polite, but seemed preoccupied with other things, more robotic in manner than cordial. That continued throughout the meal. As for the food, they offered a Carrot and Pumpkin soup special which my wife ordered. I took a taste and it had a beef broth taste which seemed so odd for a creamy pumpkin/carrot soup. She thought it tasted like beef gravy - very odd. I had a Grilled Octopus special which was however very good, tender, very well prepared and we split a tuna tartare dish which was fresh and tasty. For mains, my wife had sous-vide skirt steak which was very good and I had a Caribbean Sea Bass which also was well prepared and enjoyable. Desert however was another letdown - a caramelized pineapple tasted exactly like a baked apple crumble. It was so odd that we called the waiter back to advise he brought us the wrong desert. He got the front end manager who assured it it was the right desert, and to her credit offered to let us eat it and if we didn't like it, would not charge us. We did eat it, and we insisted on paying since, well, ... we did eat it. Overall, the good entrees offset the less enjoyable soup and dessert but again, experience was just OK, expected more.

Amazing food! Especially if you are a vegan. Amazing choices. I would suggest the vegan crab cakes, even if you are not a vegan. Additionally, I had the vegan coconut cake for dessert. Amazing. I am looking forwards to come back here on my next visit to Aruba. Complements to the chef. Truly.

One word - spectacular! As a gluten free vegan, this is the first restaurant I’ve visited on the island that catered to my needs. They even have a separate vegan menu! A much needed break from the salad and French fries I’d previously been surviving off of. I ordered the crab cake meal and it was delicious! Everyone at the table was impressed and beyond satisfied with their dish plus the waiter was nice, attentive and informative. I 10/10 recommend this place.

The restaurant's name is butterfly in French. This is a French inspired restaurant. It's quite small, so I strongly recommend making reservations here. We were a walk up and waited about 50 minutes. I'm glad we waited to dine here. It was worth the wait. There's outside and some inside seating. There's a romantic ambiance here, though very family-friendly. Service here was friendly, attentive, and helpful. Everything we ordered was to temp and delicious. The onion soup and lobster bisque were on point. The beef bourguignon wasn't on the dinner menu but was available on request. It was wonderful. And their chicken entree was delightful. The food had a beautiful presentation. The cocktails we ordered hit the spot. They also serve a complimentary bread with garlic butter. Leave room for dessert. The creme brulee was wonderful. Resort pricing, but it's definitely worth it.

We have been coming to this restaurant for several years! It's a restaurant with flair and a comfortable atmosphere. The hostess was very pleasant and professional. We had the onion soup and chevre salad as appetizer and the sea bass and skirt steak as main course. All food was outstanding and prepared perfectly! Also credits to our waitress, she was very professional and had a lot of knowledge. We will definitely keep the tradition to come back to this restaurant!

Caesar salad not so great asked for more dressing. Octopus salad for $25 only had 3 pieces as you see. Shrimp au gratin was tasty but rich and needed crusty bread. Lobster was delicious but full after the shrimp au gratin. Dover sole was good served with burnt butter. 2 glasses of champagne and a bottle of wine. Service was perfect. Beautiful location on the eastern side of Aruba. The road in is a little bumpy and has some places where you'll need to really take your time. We managed it in a Honda City so just be smart when driving and you'll be fine. Nature is the main attraction here and it's worth hanging out for a bit to watch the waves and feel the salt spray on your face. Be careful on the rocks or your shins/legs/hands etc will lose the battle against the sharp edges. There's a decent souvenir shop that sells the obligatory MiC stuff. It also carries some local things. You'll need to pay to use the washroom, I believe it was a dollar? Don't be like the entitled brats I encountered at Baby Beach. They thought having to pay to use a washroom was due to corruption. Anyways, I could go on for an hour about that episode. All in all, an interesting drive to get there but we'll worth it.

Our dinner reservations for this trip to Aruba didn’t start until our third night so when we were wandering around across from our hotel, the Hilton, and saw Papillon it looked inviting so we took a chance. Our curiosity was well rewarded with an excellent dinner that will make us return customers next trip. The toasted old fashioned got rave reviews from my wife and my dark and stormy was well-balanced and sufficiently strong. Our kids chose the spaghetti and chicken nuggets and were in the clean plate club by the end of dinner. My wife chose the mussels in white wine on the recommendation of our server, Julian, and I had the poulet Dijon. Both were cooked to perfection and I was surprised at how many mussels came in the dish. Julian was an awesome waiter, always there to check on our table and get us anything we needed. Great job to all of the staff at Papillon on making our first night on the island memorable. We will be back!

The food, the service, and the atmosphere were really good. I was really impressed with the kids' meals they offered. The kids' steak was cooked just how we ordered it, and it was a nice sized skirt steak. They had live music, which gave it a really nice touch. I recommend going for a nice family meal.

We had never been in Aruba before. This is the first restaurant we tried. Glad we did. It was excellent in all ways.

We had a nice dinner yesterday at Papillon. It’s my third or fourth time here. I prefer vegetarian dishes but for a difference tried their fish ceviche (5*!!) and wild boar for main course (4*). The ceviche was very fresh and delicious! The boar was tasty too but overly salted and the cauliflower way overcooked. The beets risotto paired to the boar was interesting and delicious (I think the Parmesan and salt from the boar together made the dish was too salty, just personal opinion). I have to note that the bartender and the staff were so sweet and attentive! They definitely compensated for any imperfections. This is why I keep coming back to try something new! Their martinis are excellent and very unique flavors! Had a great time! Thank you.

Was nervous about going here but like I say, I can find something to eat anywhere. We were a group of 6 and this was not my choice but glad we went. I had the Dutch steak which was one of the top 3 steaks of my entire life. I begrudgingly shared the steak with the group so others could try it as well. It was so tender and flavorful. The staff was friendly and attentive. Felt like prices were fair for the area and size. Only negative I can say about the place is really probably my fault. We ordered the sweetbread app. When we got it there was 3 tiny croutons and some sauce and other things in a bowl. We laughed at the portion size of things. But then later we realized that the sweetbread wasn't the tiny croutons but we think it was the "other things" in the bowl.

Average food, not bad service but for the price left a lot to be desired. The white asparagus was the hot item of the night. It was ok but served with flavorless options. The appetizers were super boring with little taste, white asparagus with with eggs and parsley was boring and the sweet breads were not the best on the island. Could have been cooked better and the sauce was strong. The lamb chop special had almost no meat and was seasoned poorly. The Sous vide steak was good says the wife but overall this is meh. Over $200 for meh is not good.

This was surprisingly one of the best restaurants we tried in the area, even though we weren’t expecting it to be so amazing! We had some of the most delicious ceviche we’ve ever had and the french onion soup was the absolute best. The fish and steak were also wonderful. We can’t wait to return!

Came here for our Christmas dinner and it was absolutely perfect. Everything we ordered was beyond amazing. Our server Max was the best and the rest of the wait staff were really nice as well. Highly recommended!

Fantastic food pairings. Very friendly crew, live music. Setting could be used in one of those cheesy Christmas movies where she goes back home to help in their family restaurant but falls in love with a customer.

Ventured out for the Early Bird Special. I recommend the Beef over the Fish option tho I’m a seafood lover and prefer seafood over red meat any day. The starter bread and wine were excellent. Recommend a visit if in Aruba and looking for an early bird deal.

Oh... this really IS the #MeToo Aruba place, with their story of an innocent man framed for murder & the blue butterfly on the menu. Henri Charriere would have been ALL over #MeToo, in my opinion. One waiter told me Charriere died... almost ruined my dinner until I Googled the story for myself - he LIVED! Enjoy the restaurant, the food, the story of resilience & check out the map inside. Don’t sit too close to the TV if you can’t watch murder while eating.

We had a spectacular experience at this beautiful restaurant. Service was first class, ambiance and lighting romantic, amazing live entertainment and the most incredible food and wine. The foie gras and sweetbread appetizers were complimented by beautiful sauces. The filet mignon in red wine with truffle mashed potatoes were the softest and tastiest steaks we have experienced this year and probably longer. The recommended 2015 Pomerol was smooth and silky and surprisingly strong enough for the meal and certainly for drinking. Overall a wonderful evening that will be long remembered.

Only thing that disappointed me was that they tacked on a service charge, seemingly to offset a coupon that was handed to us by a promotions person in front of the restaurant. No one else mentioned any service charge on their reviews so this came as a surprise. I guess they don't want you actually getting a discount, only to think you're getting one, then negating it by adding a service charge. Not nice. Overall it was still a good meal for a reasonable price, so I still give 4 stars.

Came here during Covid era. This place was delish! Got the duck breast and a mushroom vegan risotto. It also felt very safe as all the servers were wearing mask.

Live music and wonderful staff. Bread is delicious. We got lobster bisque and sweetbread for apps. Braised lamb, and grouper octopus risotto for entrees.

Great location, excellent food with fantastic service! The young waiter was warm, friendly and professional! The host was soooooo wonderful, and took time to explain the local liquor I was having after dinner! A must if you're on the Palm Beach side of the island!

Could not believe a vegan crab cake could be done so well! The flavor was spot on...also got the mushroom escargot...so much flavor but not overdone. We then had the "fish" stew made with eggplant....so hearty and delicious. Food presentation was gorgeous and ingredients were fresh. I was looking for a vegan (or even vegetarian) dinner with variety and I got that and more! Everything was so tasty and our waiter (Diego) as very knowledgeable and made that experience so much better! He was able to speak on what we ate as well which made us that much more confident in our dinner decisions. Also, very COVID safe... everyone had masks, they took our temperature upon entry, and even offered digital menu.

Great food, staff & Ambience. Even with Covid they do a great job of social distancing everyone and provide excellent service. There is a slightly reduced menu but the taste and quality of the food is on point. Not a bad idea to call for a reservation.

We found this place in a magazine they were giving out at our hotel. They had more exotic fare such as wild boar and duck al’orange so we decided we would go here for a nice dinner before we left the island. We called ahead to reserve seating for the 5 of us and were informed that because of Covid they could only sit 4 at a table. But they were incredibly friendly and helpful so they gave us indoor seating (we had the whole inside to ourselves!) and put the tables as close as they could. Also due to Covid their menu was different then it was online and in the magazine. They didn’t have the more exotic foods, which while disappointing was fine. They did have great specials though. We started with French Onion Soup, Burrata and Mozzarella Salad (one of the specials), Lobster Ceviche and assorted wines. All were delicious and the wine menu is huge (as it should be at any respectable French place). As well they brought us their homemade bread which was to die for. For entrees we had the Skirt Steak, 2 Beet Risottos, Salmon, and the special Mussels. Again all were delicious. I could have drank the gouda sauce that came with the steak it was that good. The whole time the staff were delightful and even chatted with us for some time. We topped the meal off with 2 Creme Brulees which looked almost too pretty to eat. At the end, we even received a discount which we weren’t sure was due to the Covid inconveniences or just the staff being friendly. Either way it sure helped as the place is on the pricier side, but in my opinion it would have been totally worth it even without the discount.

I went to this restaurant after reading everyone’s reviews and felt I was some place completely different. The food I would rate at a 4 at best (burnt mushrooms, mushy risotto, mushy fish). The service is completely horrible. In addition, not all staff covers their nose with their mask even when you ask them to. I would say this is dining but certainly not fine dining. I expected so much more and would definitely never return. Btw one review said live music two days ago. I didn’t experience that at all either.
