Hooiberg is well worth the hike! It was a strenuous hike so be sure to stay hydrated. A family of 7 wild goats up top were well worth it. They seem to be acclimated to humans and a local said they are always there. It was so special to see!

Wanted to catch a sunrise view. View from top was beautiful, but never truly saw the beauty of the sunrise as it stayed hidden in the clouds. I heard there are 600 steps to the top, didn't count it but made it to the top.

An awesome place to "hike" to have great views of the island. The almost 600 concrete steps are well maintained and easy to climb up and go down on, even on a hot day. I would pick a clear day for best viewing. And, if you have kids in your party, you may want to plan a visit to the water park that is right next to the hill. They have some fun water slides and it is a great way to cool down after the climb. (Water park opens at 10 and costs $18 USD as of July 2023.)

If you like to hike and would like to get a good workout while your here on vacation this is the place to go! My wife and I came here to pass some time while in Aruba as well as to see the sights from the highest point in Aruba 🇦🇼. On clear sky days you can even see Venezuela! I believe it’s 500 steps till the top and there are rest stops along the way and if your lucky enough you might spot a goat or two. Come early so you don’t have to worry about too many people in your way going up and down.

Ohhhhh the steps. The climb up Hooiberg is over a fairly steep set of steps that will surely make your legs burn unless you're in pretty good shape. If you get vertigo the trip back down the steps can give you that sensation. It can be crowded on the steps in the late afternoon /early evening as people make their way to workout there.
