Interesting is the word to go if you are willing to pay 1000 yen up for a cup of coffee. The place opens only from Friday to Sunday, with the menu for the beans changing weekly. The milk was steamed to 50 degree Celsius on purpose according to the staff who speaks fluent English. That’s supposed to make drinking easier. However, I feel that it doesn’t bring out the sweetness in the milk. I went for the “strawberry” flat white, which tasted way too fruity to my liking. The shop has only three small benches placed right outside the shopfront, which can make it uncomfortable to enjoy the cuppa under scorching hot sun.

I'm going to be a bit critical now, because you cannot justify selling a cup of coffee for 1000JPY without inviting criticism, unless it's absolutely mind blowing (which it's not). This 'Hole in the wall' style take-away coffee and Roasters looked promising and staff were professional and knowledgeable (although very serious), but our Lattes were barely luke-warm. Steaming to 50-something degrees really impacts the enjoyment of the drink. Beans are roasted on site which is nice and a rare find in Osaka, but flavour was a bit too fruity and tasted too 'young' to my taste. I feel this place has potential but it is trying "too hard" to be a sophisticated, bohemian coffee experience, rather than a place of enjoyment. I'm giving a harsh score because although the espresso was smooth, sadly the exorbitant price, overly serious atmosphere and fundamental mistake of serving cool milk left behind a bitter taste in my memory. Also worth noting that there are no soy, oats or milk options available here, and no seating.

Unbelievably expensive prices for a cup of coffee. Why?? Whatever the reason it’s not worth it. To be fair the staff takes care when making the coffee, they know their stuff and are friendly but no way in hell should coffee cost ¥1000 or more. It’s outrageous and unacceptable. To pour water over beans should not leave customers penniless. Completely mercenary. Good coffee- however NOT worth the price. They should do better. Makes you wonder about the guys who pick the beans- are they being paid $10 per cup? I’m sure not.

The coffee was amazing. The people were even better. They spoke English and were interested in our vacation plans. They open only on the weekends to make sure they cycle fresh new beans from around the world. The barista has over 10 years of experience and was very happy to educate us on his journey. We came back the next day to buy a few bags of beans.

Stumbled upon this place and it is a hidden gem! The barista is really passionate in making coffee. I ordered the ice latte strawberry blend and ice black peach blend, you can really taste the strawberry and peach notes in the coffee. I never had anything like this, 100% recommend!

A wide selection of drip coffee. The menu changes weekly and they are only opened for selected time periods - do check out the timing before you make a trip down. If you’re looking for flat white/latte kinda coffee, there’re limited choices. The staff are very friendly and able to hold a conversation in English. Also passionate in sharing! Last thing, it’s on the pricey side. Just fyi :)

This spot was founded by a barista world champion and it shows in their care for coffee. I was nerding out hard with the Baristas. They offer rare coffees like Geisha, Ethiopians, Colombians on pour over while also catering to milk drinks. Their new pour over device, The Paragon I believe (video below), is one of very few in the world. These guys are trying to get every optimization they can make in the brew process and it shows. The coffee is delicious and monitored by a temperature device to ensure the best drinking temp. Must visit if you’re a specialty coffee lover in Japan.

The coffee and service was excellent. The fact that they also roast their own beans is very exciting and that they can tell you where the beans come from as well. For anyone from Australia who likes to use quality beans will also know about St. Ali.

Another great hidden cafe located in Osaka. Open only on Friday-Saturday-Sunday. Owner of the cafe Shinsaku with a title of coffee fest world latte art champion in 2018 been working in St. Ali from Melbourne Australia before he moved back to Japan and open his own cafe in Osaka. Now they roasted their own coffee and open a class for barista

This is not a casual cup of coffee. The place is admittedly serious. The team is great and if you’re open to an experience, try the coffee and ask questions. There is nothing left to chance - or even personal preference - at Barista Map. The team curates a menu weekly and painstakingly refines it daily — that is, when they are open for customers (Fri-Sun). The variety of selection in beans is great. You can have a hand drip (sorry Americanos) or latte (leave your cortado and flat white dreams at the door). Both options are excellent. Plan your visit as Barista Map is only open Friday to Saturday. OR, take a course during the week — it’s another great way to enjoy the experience and learn.

Most delicious but also most expensive (😭💸) latte I've ever had. The strawberry blend was truly out of this world! This little hidden gem is perfect for coffee needs. The staff is really lovely, speaks English and are so hospitable and sweet! They are really knowledgeable and passionate about their craft — from beans to brewing. Everything is made for perfection. My partner got a black coffee and loved it as well. Great experience, for sure! However, definitely too steep for people that just want a regular cup of joe.

Really great coffee! Unique brewing mechanism. State of the art. Coffee from around the world I believe. Small place with only a few seats to sit. I think go early or wait a bit to avoid the morning crowd right about 10am.

Chanced upon this place on our way to dotonburi. Amazing speciality coffee with a tinge of strawberry frangrance. Absolutely loved it 🤤 Extremely friendly staff who was English speaking, apparently they just celebrated their anniversary and gave us free drip coffee! Apparently only opens from fri to sun only guess we were lucky!

This is a wonderful coffee shop with knowledgeable and friendly staff. It is an artisanal coffee experience and is priced as such but I appreciated the quality and thought it was worth the money. The employees really take time and care to make sure it is a special experience.

Talk of a small world, the roaster and the owner have both worked in St Ali in Melbourne! Upon return to Japan, the owner started roasting coffee beans and opened a cafe, quiet at first but now becoming steadily busy. It is very specialised, serving Ethiopian and Columbian beans with unusual flavours. I asked for a 3/4 latte but they said they serve only 1 type of latte with full serve of milk and urged me to trust them. I'm glad I did but latte was definitely not cheap at $10 per serve. Today's flavour was strawberry, slightly sweet, nice and creamy, exploded in my mouth with a burst of flavour from the first sip, it was unbelievable.

A cup of coffee can tells the stories as many as their aromas and flavours. Small space with no indoor seats, but you don‘t need to hesitate to enter in. On the street, but you are already inside the toy bunker of kid gangsters, as a member, sharing the pure moments of fun and joy. Rarely bold geisha beans, brewed with care, fully charged.

Favourite coffee experience we've had in Japan. They are coffee geniuses and are very happy to share their expertise with you as you order and drink. Super friendly and delicious coffee (of course!) A must-visit for coffee fans if you are in Osaka

Must try coffee shop in Osaka. This high quality coffee shop just listed into my favorite, well selected coffee beans, freindly staff, great comunication and cosy environment. Small and local with unique experience, I’ll revisit this coffee shop again. They have seasonal coffee beans served along the year. Don’t forget to buy some special coffee beans back to do you home brew from here.

Such a wonderful spot run by really lovely folks! Pick your beans, smell the grind, chat with the owner, watch the pour—a lot of care goes into each cup. Easily some of the best coffee I’ve had in Osaka!

Cool roadside small store for exquisite coffee. Service staff are extremely friendly and helpful, coffee from around the world paired perfectly on a chilly winter day. Highly recommended!

Got coffee here with my partner. The owner was so lovely and was great to chat to. Most of the employees had worked as baristas in Melbourne so the standard of coffee was delicious! Highly recommend
