To have such shrine in the middle of the city is unbelievable. It actually looks really cool and very traditional at the same time by being located there. They were remodelling a couple of things when I went there but that only means they are taking care of it and maintaining it. I'd say it is a must to see if you are into looking and very traditional things from Japan plus it is very unique to not look at.

Cool shrine shaped like a dragon or lion. You can wash yourself and pray, and there's a little shop as well. There were some other people around, but not too crowded. We spent perhaps 15 minutes, so it's a quick stop. Maybe not worth going a long way out of your way to see it.

A visit to this shrine in the Namba area is pretty interesting. There are educational videos that teach you about the culture and customs, and you can take so many cool pictures. This place can get really crowded, especially on weekends and peak travel seasons, so I recommend going earlier in the morning to avoid the crowds so that you can get uninterrupted pictures.

A very unique shrine shaped as a head with an open mouth. The entrance is free and there is room for many nice pictures. If you want, you can also buy souvenirs or even pay an offering at the office. Better to visit in the morning to avoid crowds. Recommended.

As my wife dragged me to this, our 90th shrine, she said, “this shrine is not like any one we’ve seen before.” I rolled my eyes, but she was right! It’s different! No vermillion gates, no Buddha guys, just a giant head shaped like the demon guys you sometime see. It’s a small complex with this headliner temple (see what I did there) and another small temple sandwiched between modern buildings. They do goshunin here, and not just by selling you a sheet of paper, which my wife appreciated. Come for a unique photo if you’re in the area but don’t expect to spend more than 15 minutes here.

Small temple and pretty quiet. Its kind of nestled in a residential area~ Of course, it is famous for the lion’s head, but it is a beautiful shrine regardless. The people at the shrine office were lovely and they also had a laminated menu to look at to choose omamori, if you don’t speak much Japanese yet~ This goes without saying but this is a place of worship, so it is best to be respectful~

It's a tranquil place in the middle of the city. 10-15 minute walk from the station (maybe faster depending on how quickly you walk) and must be early to avoid crowds. If you only want pictures, good for you! Other than that, I didn't find anything too exciting from it. (Or I'm just not into shrines...😬)

One of the unique shrines in Japan. They also have different types of omikuji.

Its a small temple. Quiet and nice and relaxing. The status is big and interesting. For photo lovers it can be a good spot for photoshooting. There not that much to mention but for interneted people on temples could be a good place to discover. The area is not nice and buildings and around isnold and dirty a bit more in comparison to other places.

Considered a small shrine compare to others in Kyoto, but looking great and very convenient to reach, it's just by the roadside, walking distance from namba station, suggest to come in the morning I guess the view will be nicer. Many said that standing under it will chase away all the bad luck, I tried it today, and hopefully it's works. Come definitely revisit again in future if there's a chance. Strongly recommend to visit this place.

An interesting design shrine in the area with a beast head shape structure. Quite busy most of the time, but surely a landmark to be seen and visited if you haven't done so in the past.

Beautiful shrine. Iconic lion head shrine. It's not near subway station. There is isn't anyone on the weekend we visited. So not sure what we should do with the fortune telling we got. 😅 Just followed the flow by tieing it at the tree. Hope we got it right and be blessed until we next visit Japan. 🙏🏻🙏🏻👏👏

The shrine is amazing! I came to see the gigantic lion head, and it did not disappoint! It’s to be expected to be crowded on weekends but it did not make my experience any worse. I also got a 「御朱印」goshuin which is a stamp for a shrine book, and they write it in. This goshuin comes with an exclusive lion head stamp which was awesome. Loved it, one of my favorite parts of Osaka.

One of the most original shrines or temples I’ve been. Went at the morning and almost no one was there. Not much else to do close by.

Main attraction was the lion head temple! Quite a small temple 20min should be more than enough Unless you want to buy some lucky chain

Its a little shrine in a middle of the city. Very unique shrine as the main attraction. Few people visit this one. Nothing much to see.

One of my go-to shrines in Namba Area. This used to be not touristy in 2019 until the pandemic happened and lots of instagram stories featured this and became a hot spot for people who'd only take photos. I mean, try paying respect :) This shrine made me wishes in 2019 come true. I'd definitely go back to pay respect and pray again.

Good place for a sincere prayer with a good holiday trip in Osaka. Realistically and thankfully, my perfect trip in Osaka ends with a divine visit to this famous temple before flying home the following day. God bless indeed.

1 of the special shrine in terms of the building structure compare to other you see around the region. Not crowded and you can experience how some local people doing the prayer.

I think this was one of the more popular shrines in that city l at least tourist wise). The shrine/ place is quite big but it can get busy. I did like the shrine and if I am not wrong there are english sign that explain te place. I am not sure anymore but never the less. Do visit the place if you're there

Not a big temple, spend 15-20 min. look around, but too many tourists. Please avoid during the rush time. Can walk up 10 min. from Namba station

It's a cool shrine. I would recommend briefly stopping by. It's not something you can spend hours upon hours at, but it's definitely worth seeing.

It is not a dragon head! This lion head stage is awesome. Not as crowded as other shrines because it is off the beaten path. Still worth the walk, and the noodle shops around the shrine are superb. If you are lucky you can try one of the plums from the Yew Plum Pine tree.

Very small but interesting shrine. Worth a visit if you happen to be in the area and it's not that touristy. You need to see it in person and admire the craftsmanship but other than that nothing much to explore. They do have a decent selection of charms as well

It’s located in a quiet block ( mainly residential) but easy access to train stations. The shrine is not big. You can easily walk every building in it within a few minutes, but I recommend stopping at a corner of the garden or simply stand by the lion temple to enjoy the quiet moments of a beautiful shrine. The gift shop is selling a very cute pair of amulets. If you’re interested in small souvenir, you should stop by and take a look.

One of my favourite shrine, definitely a must-visit. They also so handwritten goushin, so make sure to grab one.

Very interesting place for pictures and seeing awesome craftsmanship. Entrance is free and the place closes promptly every day so make sure to be there on time before it closes.

One of the most distinctive and iconic sights in Osaka for its gigantic lion head stage. I would call it an absolute must visit in the city. They also offer a variety of lucky omamori charms with images of the lion on them. Located roughly 10 minutes walk from Namba station

A nice little shrine close to Namba station. It is not a huge shrine but the giant gargoyle head is worth the visit.

This place is very beautiful and has a quiet earthy atmosphere. If you are visiting for a photo like we were please be quiet and respectful. Everyone there was friendly and kind. Recommend to anyone wanting to see something beautiful.

This Namba Yasaka Shrine is the coolest i've encountered! The Enormous Lion stature is impressive. The shine location isn't large on it's own, but it's very easy to commute to. The neighborhood is quiet and has 24hr supermarket next to it.

  • 5/5 Sutirtha D. 1 year ago on Google
A truly different shrine experience. The giant lion head is huge, and pretty cool. Short walk from Namba station. There is a digital board nearby with audio explanations about the place in English as well. You can notice dual crests of the Yasaka shrine on the surrounding statues, tombs & shrines.

Unique design, but not many things to do here besides taking pictures.

Instagramable shrine with huge face gate. Just 5min walk from Nanba station.

Such an impressive shrine 😍 the grounds are small, but the main building and the stage are both worth checking out. It was a great opportunity to get some cool photos.

  • 5/5 Alex A. 1 year ago on Google
A beautiful shrine with a majestic architecture, you can get amulets in the unattended boxes or in the counter. There's also a digital kiosk with information on the shrine, general information on Shinto and it has a quick tutorial on how to pray at a shrine. Remember it's a place of worship, be respectful and mindful of others.

Little shrine with a huge personality. Great spot for photos and small local events held at the shrine

I can easily find the temple when getting off the train, walking about 15 minutes from the train, the temple is small and strangely peaceful. You should come early, can see many beautiful things! I'm late so everything is closed!

  • 4/5 Jane Z. 1 year ago on Google
Very small and quite shrine that was free to visit. We saw a baby blessing when we were there, which was pretty cool. The lion head was why we made the extra 10min walk to check it out, and made for some fun photos.

Super cool little shrine in Osaka. It's not that big, bit it's got a giant head with an open mouth that is for sure the main drawn. It also has several walkways, some cherry trees, and a lil temple as well. It's very accessible and not too crowded (then again, I did go on a rainy day in February). Overall would recommend.

Unique shrine. Among all the shrines I visited , this was different. Shrine shaped of lions head. It’s not crowded. So you can take nice pictures. Walkable distance from Namba station.

A local shrine with its signature lion head. It is close to Namba station and within 10-15mins walking distance from the famous Dotonburi. It is worth a pay a visit as it is very unique when comparing to other local shine.
