Price is absolutely incredible for 4 halibut and chips which feeds the whole family. Big pieces and tastes great. Note that they take cash only. The store itself needs a major facelift but who cares if the food is good, clean environment and we're eating it at home anyway. I love supporting family run businesses who truly have tasty food and prices.

$5.99 for popcorn fish and chips was an amazing deal! I didn’t have the time to sit and dine in, but I hope to in the future. The two ladies (one took the order and the other was cooking) were incredibly kind and friendly. I just moved to Oshawa and am really impressed by people’s kindness here. In terms of the food, the portion and temperature were great. The taste was amazing. I loved how crispy the fish and chips were. I am looking forward to coming back and trying their other menu items :) PS, cash only. They have an ATM inside if needed.

We visited Churchills again and I have to say the service was excellent as usual. We didn't have to wait long at all for the food and the servings were much more than we expected. We will definitely come back again. The restaurant was very clean and the ataff were so warm and welcoming. Honestly. I love fish and chips and so if you do too I highly recommend this place. You can see in my photo that the portions are AMAZING. Thank you!!!! We both had two pieces of fish and a truck load of fries. You'll be full when you leave and I'm a big guy.

I have been eating here for years, I have done both dine and take out. The food is great, you get good portions and the service is amazing. They are so genuinely friendly. Highly recommend this place, they have the best halibut fish in Durham.

Ant the fries are nothing like any other fish and chips places Anyways I was short .88 cents and still gave it to me!!!! They only accept cash. We called today after seeing this post ordered a large poutine . My brother goes in to pay , unfortunately we didn’t have cash on us, the atm was down ; we went to use the atm at giant tiger and it wasn’t dispensing cash either. I called and let the guy know and he got very rude over the phone and started raising his voice and talking over me. I apologized and suggested that he let customers know that they only accept cash. He repeatedly told me not to ever call them again for food. I’m sure the poutine is great however, with his poor customer service skills, rude mouth etc I def won’t be attempting to try them again.

Let me start positive these people are really nice working family. I loved the vibe there prices are great and the variety is good too. In my opinion and according to my taste the fish and chips were not great. Everyone has different tastes and needs this is only my opinion. I found the batter to thick and tasteless. There was absolutely no seasoning not even salt in the batter or fish. Haddock and white fish aren’t that tasty so everything was bland. The chips also no salt tasteless. They fry with shortening so when it gets cold it goes hard. The wings weren’t bad a bit too much sauce but tasty. I’m very particular about my fish and chips I ate the British Churchill’s fish and chips and this isn’t it. But Koodos to them there are lots of other people that love their fish and chips.

OMG! This is THE BEST fish & chip take-out restaurant !! ALWAYS EXCELLENT! HUGE portions & EXCELLENT food!!! Absolutely get your bang for your buck! You will NOT be disappointed!!

I think I may have found my go to English style fish and chips store in Durham region. Great fresh fish , lightly battered halibut fish and fresh cut fries and an amazing coleslaw, I am coming back here, Wonderful friendly and caring service, no wonder the reviews are all good.

OMG... we ordered fish and chips for takeout tonight from here and I am INCREDIBLY happy with our order. Not only was the staff so friendly but everything was amazing. From the fish, the chips and even the gravy. Usually we aren't very satisfied with how greasy the fish is, how bad the fries are or how salty the gravy is but at this place... THEY HAVE IT ALL!! I would highly recommend this place for your fish and chip cravings. And don't forget the gravy. Wow!

wanted to try this mom and pop shop as there are not many around now a days. went in the place was busy which was a great sign. ordered 1 halibut and chips for take out. price was understandable. came time to pay and to my surprise they didn't even accept any form of payment except for cash. server was rude as ever and said if i wanted the food i had to use their own atm to pay for it. i started laughing and said where is the bank i will go there instead of paying the ridiously fees of the atm. i asked them why isn't it stated anywhere that they are cash only. they just smirked and said they don't have to let anyone know. i again said you know what forget it and left the food there and advised that i would never come back, i'm sure the food would have been fantastic, but the lack of customer service just ruined the entire night for me. I would have not had a problem if they just stated from the start it is cash only but to wait till the end is just a waste of food and customers time.

Peter, Thank you! It was good seeing you after more than 20 years. You kept me nourished when I was in high school with your Halibut on a bun and chips! I remember you used to always make the food with lots of love and care back then and it is the same now! My mom also enjoyed the halibut and chips. All the best! I've read all the great reviews here and thought I'd try. Got the 2 halibut and chips, cost was almost $25. But that is normal these days. Place was empty at 5pm on a Tuesday. Well it was the worse I've ever had, 1 fish was raw, unbelievable. And half of the first was raw. It's not like they were extremely busy or anything, like I said place was empty. People where very nice, but like I said, the worse halibut I've ever had. Threw it out. Never again, I DO NOT recommend this place. Best is still Captain George in Bowmanville.

Food was good ....HUGE DOWN FALL THEY DONT ADVERTISE ANYWHERE ITS CASH ONLY!!!!Sorry work to hard for my money to pay it out in ATM fees and bank fees.....being held hostage as my son and father in law hunt down a bank...NOT cool!!!

I took my mom here for dinner. At first the prices seemed a bit high. The water though was excellent. Peter I believe his name was. Once the food came out I realized that price was not a problem. The best fish and chips I have had since old pat and Mike's. Crispy fish. Perfect cooked fries. Even the coleslaw that I rarely eat was delicious. I will be back. Keep up the good work

Very good halibut and chips, fish was cooked properly and the chips were as well. Christine our server asked for proof we were vaccinated and my wife and I showed same..Not a problem and she was pleasant. Food came quickly. Would recommend

I have always enjoyed Churchills halibut nchips. Jan 3rd today was the first day I have eaten a solid meal since Christmas day. I have been in bed sick. Let me tell you, I am so happy we chose Churchills for dinner today. Amazing as always! The best in town!!

Very fresh food, really nice chips, generous portion for the fish. Make sure you bring cash, it's the only thing they accept. They do have a ATM on site if you need it

This is your typical hole in the wall, mom and pop shop. It is far from fancy. It's dated and rundown but the fish, haddock and halibut were pretty good. I can see what the rave is all about. You can dine in or take out. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because they only take cash! Not very convenient at all since most people don't carry cash nowadays. I am annoyed that they make their customers pay $1.50 to use an ATM machine and they don't tell you that until after you have placed your order. A sign would be nice giving customers advance notice. Other than that small annoyance, they were friendly and appear to be very hard working people. I noticed a much older lady in the kitchen who looks like she needs to retire.

The best fish and chips restaurant in Oshawa. The only downside is they are cash only but it is worth the inconvenience of bringing cash. So mouth watering good. Fish is fresh and the fries are hot. The service was also stellar. Definitely going here again.
