Really delicious and fresh food. Decent pricing and quantity. Street parking is available, sucks we have to pay for parking but not an issue. The restaurant itself is cozy, but very tight. I ordered the Meat Thali, it was very filling and came with half a naan.

The food here is just average or below average I would say. Soup was ok but veg biryani completely sucks. So I should say not so good experience with this restaurant and did not meet to the expectations at all.

Used to order from here all the time and the food was good. On the last order, the food containers were half the size but the price remained the same. $15 for a half size butter chicken container?? That's ridiculous. Will not be going back anymore. You can get far better value elsewhere. Silver Spoon for instance; large portions at more reasonable prices and the food is better. Very disappointing.

Been visiting them (dine in or take out) for last 3 years and we love them! Great food, superb quality and good quantity. Their platters - Naan platter and fryer platter are must try! Chicken gravies are great but my favourite is Kabab Lababdar! The flavour is rich. Also you have to try their rice - we tried their Kashmiri pulav and veg biryani. The flavours are again amazing! They are located in Downtown Oshawa. Must try if you are around Oshawa or visiting the location.

What can I say? Major disappointment given the reviews on here. Had to send my order back twice because the chicken was too dry. Even demonstrated to the staff how firm it was. In the end just decided to leave and eat elsewhere. I told them I'd pay half when I'm surprised they'd even accept that I pay at all. Oh well. I can say on a positive note that the sauce and spice was spot on.

We started off our meal with a Naan Platter. The various types of naan were all delicious with the cheese one being my favorite. This was served with a delicious tomato sauce that tasted like the sauce used in Butter Chicken A+++ We had a small group and ordered a variety of dishes. I personally ordered a Meat thali which came with two meat options and one veg option. I opted for Butter Chicken and Tikka Masala. For my veg option I chose Chana Masala. Everything was flavorful and delicious. I tried a few bites of some of my friends dishes and I enjoyed everything I sampled. The ambiance in the restaurant is nice. It's small inside, but lovely. I parked a block away and walked there. There is a public parking lot beside the bank that you can park in though, which I discovered after. Staff were all friendly and my experience was overall a pleasant one. I'll definitely be back!

50 Dollars straight in garbage !!!!! DISAPPOINTING This review is specially for Bowmanville location because they are not on google ! The butter chicken was all sweet orange colored water with big pieces of flavorless chicken and small container size is being sold as medium for 15 dollars, such a rip off , small and medium size same ! Garlic nans were like chewing gum and really sad and to top it all deal makhani with stones like uncooked dal ! God save people who order from here I heard lot of reviews for Oshawa branch and that’s tried to give it a shot !

Authentic flavorful flavors. Fantastic food and the spice wasn't over powering. Literally drove from Toronto to try this place out with a friend and it was worth the road trip.

Underwhelmed. First time eating from Spicy Affairs. As a brown person I’m very underwhelmed. I’ve had far better flavours at cheaper prices. The rice was the downfall, they used traditional spices that I’m used to but the taste was not as intense as i hoped from an Indian restaurant (not talking about spicyness). The chicken is okay, decent portion size. It also came with chickpeas and a naan. All of it is okay, if i had to choose one word it’s underwhelmed. As much as i love Indian food i definitely will be going to other spots even though they’re farther from home. Service was great, i was greeted by every employee and they were nice. Store was clean and tidy, i pass by the store multiple times daily and it’s always nice inside. I do not recommend this place if you’re looking for the best desi food, they should take notes from PakHalal’s flavours, it’s a world of difference (authentic flavours)

Very very disappointed as I ordered 3 things, samosas , 1 veg thali and 1 non veg thali. It took 40 minutes. It was not with only my order, it was with every customer. The management should value their customers time. Only after paying for the food they mentioned that it will take 25-30 minutes but it took more than that. It’s not employees fault as they were trying their best but Management should take action against wait time

This used to be our go to Indian spot in Durham. Was always so good. Lately it's as if everytime we order there's a different chef preparing the dishes. Extremely inconsistent. Sometimes it's amazing and sometimes it's very disappointing, especially when you're buying $100+ worth of food. We've given many chances, not sure we will give any more.

It was my first time trying this restaurant and I am very displeased with the food and the service. I ordered a veg thali and went to pick it up; once I got back home and opened it, it was a non veg thali. After calling the restaurant and explaining it, their customer service was terrible, but they still managed to deliver a veg thali and pick the non veg thali which they gave me incorrectly to begin with. When I ate the food, it felt stale and bad in taste, and I was very disappointed with it. Overall, my experience was terrible - from the food standpoint and moreover from a service perspective.

We were in Oshawa for a night and looking for a good place for dinner. We went to Spicy Affairs Indian Cuisine and had the best East Indian food I have had. The Chicken Shahjahani was incredible! The service was fantastic! If in Oshawa, this is a must try.

This review is for the Oshawa location. Have gotten take out twice from this location and so far am not disappointed! The food is authentic and absolutely delicious! I especially love the mango curry and coconut chicken curry. I always order extra naan (because its delicious) and for dessert I make sure to grab an order of gulab jamun. I've heard mixed reviews about the new Bowmanville location, so I've chosen to keep ordering from the Oshawa location (as I'm in Courtice). Oshawa Spicy Affairs does not disappoint!

My boyfriend and I have been here a handful of times! The food is always hot and tastes really great! The portions are great, it's small and cozy! They will ask how spicy you might like your food. The customer service is very professional as well!

I called and wanted to place an order for a pick up, the lady politely mentioned that they are closing early. It’s 8 pm on Saturday evening for god sake. With the same politeness I asked of the reason of them closing early, the answer very politely was that they are not busy. Now it took me 5 minutes to get my head around this ; probably you are not busy because you are not accepting orders at 8:00 pm which is prime time action for any restaurant worth its salt. Probably if you start accepting orders and keep open at least your mentioned times , then there are good chances that you will be busy at some point. Try to come up with some good reason guys.. restaurants are not run like that. You got to keep the shop open even the registers are going dry even for days. May be you are new in the business, I will still try your food at some point for sure. Hope that it would not be as bland as the reason given today.

The lunch special menu has good price and the food is great. The Mango Chicken tastes very good. It is very creamy and it taste very appetizing. We also try Saag Paneer, Butter Chicken and they taste very good. The lunch special also come with chick pea salad as appetizers. Portion is great.

Without doubt some of the best Indian food I’ve eaten since moving to Canada from London. Consistently high quality food and service. Eat here and you won’t regret it. Also, it’s called Spicy Affairs for a reason, so maybe try the medium heat before you get too adventurous! 🤣

The good: servers are quick and polite. The bad: No parking. Parkjng available across the street. The ugly: we ordered the lamb jalfrezi. They served beef and then when i asked the server to check with chef, then insisted it lamb. I dont know if this was intentional or mistake. Either or they were not willing to admit mistake that it was beef that they served. We could even hear the chef from The kitchen being loud and defensive. Avoid the aloo paratha. Its dry and terrible.

Absolutely loved this hidden gem in Durham region with great flavours bursting into your mouth. Great cozy place with good ambiance. Parking could be a concern but overall food taste quality was great.

It is amazing. This tiny tiny little restaurant. It always feel warm and welcoming. The food is lovely. I adore the Chana Masala true street food. Delicious with buttered Naan as a dipper a little yogurt. The samosa are incredible. I could go on and on. Best to try it for yourself ! Lucky you

I had entered the restaurant very excitedly but my spirits were crushed with the lacklustre vibes ( both in Oshawa and Bowmanville ) and in fact, I felt everyone around was being greeted nicely except me and I don’t know why. Food is decent but not authentic Indian ( biryani rice is not genuine Indian style rice and naan is not Indian style). A positive vibe, equal greetings to all customers and improved food experience can make this a good fare, so I hope they take the feedback positively. I love Indian food take out every weekend but will be exploring other options in Durham region for now.

Worst experience ever !!! Worst quality of food , worst service! We ordered 4 curries, 2 starters and 15 naans , none of them was good taste , nor quality of food! Taste was yuck 🤮, naan wasn’t chewable at all❌ , never going to this place again not even recommending anyone!

Always super happy with the food I've had here (both takeout and when it was open for dining). Gluten free items clearly marked, so many delicious vegetarian options, good portion sizes and I love being able to customize spice level! :)

  • 4/5 Hannah R. 4 months ago on Google
Their butter chicken and mango chicken is really good. I would suggest you go for lunch and not dinner; you get rice, naan, and salad included when you order lunch. When you order for dinner you have to order all items separately which costs quite a bit more.
