Friendly staffs, huge quantity, delicious breakfast with a lot of options. Free Parking at rear on weekends, walk-ins accepted. They only accept Debit or Cash. Loved the interior, it has been telling a lot of stories since a little over 6 decades. I truly admire the family for maintaining the legacy for such a long time.

WOW!! We heard good things from friends, which made us excited to stop in and try. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is a true diner experience. The portion sizes are unreal which equal tremendous value. Whatever meal you order, I’m pretty sure you’ll have enough for a take home meal as well. Not just a huge portion, the flavour is there too! They have a unique menu with many items that piqued our interest… we will be back to try more!

UPDATE: I attended this afternoon. I ordered pea meal bacon and eggs. It arrived hot. Fresh. And delicious. Waitress was awesome. Teamwork evident. I watched the chef in the kitchen. I saw skill. I saw attention to detail. I saw someone who cared. This all created an ambiance like being home. Good to be back! Well done! I even got to take some home!! Thank you Rainbow!!I am sorry for my attitude previously. You are right. I apologize. I was very rude and harsh. What you have written is true. Change is hard sometimes. You have done an awesome job. I truly am sorry. Your food is awesome. You have done an amazing turn around with your restaurant. Please accept my sincere apologies.

It's great to know that some of the best places are still around from our past. I recently rediscovered the this amazing restaurant in Downton Oshawa. I used to eat here back in the early 90s when I worked just down the street!! Great food, big portions, friendly service and so nice to hear a " Hello' when you walk in the door.!! I'll be back soon!

Had a fantastic time here with my cousin and our kids. We enjoyed the food and were really impressed with the portions. Never seen such thick peameal bacon ever ! We met the owner and he was very friendly ! Keep up the good work and we can’t wait to visit again.

If you live in or regularly visit oshawa and haven’t been to the Rainbow… shame on you. Popped in today and had an incredible meal. Their portions are monstrous and once dropped in front of you, you will quickly see it’s worth every penny. I wanted to get a hot hamburger sandwich but since it was 16oz I thought I’d go smaller and grab the Benedict burger… well the 8oz burger was topped with pretty much an 8oz slab of Pemeal bacon, a perfectly and I mean perfectly poached egg and of course hollandaise sauce. Tip: the $3 side of fries is huge, share jt, you will thank me later. This restaurant is a local favorite for sure. It has a lot of history and they show it. For me the food was average, the portion were good. The price was too high, as I'm used to being able to get a three egg and bacon breakfast special for $10 or less. You won't find that here. If you like ok food and a lot of nostalgia then this is the place for you. If you want good food at good rates then there are others in Oshawa that are better suited.

I had a specialist appointment with my daughter recently, and decided to look for a breakfast spot nearby. The rainbow restaurant was within a 5 minute walking distance, so we decided to give it a try. I have a somewhat restricted diet, due to an auto immune disorder so breakfast is typically a safe bet when dining out anywhere. I ordered the bacon omelette with cheese. And I was NOT disappointed. My food looked delicious, and after the first bite, I literally did a happy dance in my seat! My daughter ordered French toast and she was just as happy. The prices were phenomenal, as well! I don’t know Oshawa very well, but I was grateful to find this little gem! When I was telling my friends about this place and the BEST BREAKFAST EVER, they seemed to know about it already, and laughed at me that I’ve never been! Great job rainbow restaurant. Your reputation seems to be shining bright! I will be happy to swing by next month when I’m back for a follow up with my daughter!

Ordered through Uber eats. I had to drain the water out of the container with the omelette. Some parts of the cheese were hard, the meat smelt weird and onions were just mush under the mess. It was just disgusting. Wish I could give 0 stars. Complete waste of $25

Our regular place for Sunday breakfast. Great old style diner with supersized portions. Famous eggs Benedict are a must try for breakfast. For lunch challenge yourself to finish the Treehouse sandwich.

We got lucky and were able to snag a table as soon as we arrived. It is a seat yourself breakfast spot that takes you back to the 1960s. The menu was extensive. Prices were extremely reasonable. The staff was super friendly. The portion sizes were huge. The food tastes amazing! I would honestly give this restaurant 10 stars if I could. Will definitely be headed back to this location very soon!

My husband and I absolutely love the food at the Rainbow Restaurant. It's hands down one of our absolute favorite breakfast spots. The peameal bacon is hand cut and literally the size of pork chops! We are big eaters and are never able to finish even half of our plate of food.

Chris’s parents would be proud of him as he carries their legacy and cuisine! Definitely in the gold standard class when it comes to retro/comfort food/atmosphere diner. Amazing! Large breakfasts... You will not leave hungry! This place needs to be on Diners, drive-ins and dives! The breakfast options are endless and the food is amazing. From the time you enter the door, you will bombarded by a series of hellos. The staff will make you feel home.

Super cute place with a low key friendly atmosphere. Locally owned and operated. The portions were large and well presented! My husband got a burger so big he had to split it in half so it would fit in his mouth! They take cash or debit so be prepared.

The best diner in Oshawa! I can't say enough good things about this place. Great food, great service, great memories. Try anything on the breakfast menu -- you won't be disappointed! Been coming here for decades to enjoy their Farmer's breakfast and always left satisfied. Unfortunately with this visit I was not as satisfied. Their sausage is not what it use to be. Needless to say I'm completely heart broken.... On a good note the eggs, toast, home fries and service were great as always. It was good to see that the staff were all wearing masks but the service man that was cleaning the milk machine was not.

I have been coming to Rainbow for probably 20 years. The food & service does not disappoint. Louie was in the kitchen and did an excellent job as did the waitress ( forgot her name). It is very retro as well inside. Definitely a must see in Oshawa. The portions are big so bring your appetite !!

We come in every 2 weeks. Can never get enough of this amazing restaurant. My husband FINALLY finished the "once around the grill" omelet!

It's a great little restaurant with super friendly staff and that old character we love sometimes. Unfortunately for my family of four to have a full breakfast each it was just under $100 with a tip. We'll have to look for something more in our price range going forward.

This spot is so special. My partner and I came for breakfast on a rainy day while we were camping in the area, and it immediately brought me back to being a young person in my hometown breakfast joint. The walls are lined with photos of smiling faces, the staff are fast and kind, the prices are okay but the food is great. If anyone is from Halifax and misses the community energy of the old Mary’s Place cafe, this is a good place to capture that spirit (or at least, I couldn’t help but reminisce!).

Came here today after seeing what great reviews this place had. It didn’t disappoint, food was great, large portions, kind staff and a homey atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good brunch or burger.

Favourite breakfast place, hands down in Durham Region! Historic building, lots of famous bums have sat in those seats, the staff is incredible and it's a very fast table turn over when it's busy. The decor shows their appreciation for their customers with hall of fame walls all over. The food is MASSIVE size and nothing on their menu fit for a king is over $25. Free refills even! The food is amazing, the staff is amazing, the building is amazing, all the patrons are amazing, it's the best! Go with a big empty stomach because their omlettes start at 7 eggs!! Lol

I wish there were more restaurants like this. The prices are fair, and the portions are enormous. Staff are always friendly and service is great. I really like the old-time feeling of this place, I hope they never change a thing. One of my favourite restaurants for Eggs Benedict, the slab of peameal bacon is as thick as a pork chop, I have a hard time finishing my whole plate. Places like this are hard to find nowadays.

Called into the Rainbow today to Order their Amazing Steak and Eggs and Eggs Benny. I have to hand it to them, everything was perfection! The wife and l love the Rainbow! The food is always great and so is the service. I always get the pancakes and peameal for breakfast. Soooo good!! The old school dinner feel is nice. I can not recommend this place enough.

Awesome breakfast Farmers is my favourite with fresh farm raised sausages. My go to place when you want a filling breakfast for reasonable price. Been in Oshawa for years and always loved it.
