Family owned place, I really loved their Caesar salad, sweet potato fries and wings ! The Greek wrap needs some garlic… Nice service takes some time , but it’s not an issue since it’s family operated place , have to come back for brunch !

I'll start with two prefaces, one I really wanted to like this place based on the reviews and two they took a call order before taking mine even though I was there first. Everyone was really nice and kind. I ordered the meatloaf special with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes, veggies and a warm bun with coffee. I recieved the dish after a bit of a wait. It was presented well and looked good. But the meatloaf was cold in the center so I had to ask them to warm it up. The waitress said she'll "get them to microwave it again". It came back hot, which is good. The overall flavor was not the best, the gravy had a off taste, the meatloaf was okay and the mashed potatoes were bland. The veggies were definitely frozen and not cooked well, they were not soft at all and were also bland. The bun was a simple warm bun served with butter, it was good. The coffee was ok but my refill instead of warming it back up made it a little cooler. Price wise at just under $11 for the meatloaf it was good value, but I'd pay more for better food. The $3 coffee was ok. So overall the food was not very good, but the people were lovely and the diner has charm. Maybe this was an off night but I don't think I'll go back. Too many other diners in Oshawa that have really good food.

This was our first time at this location. We had been to the other location on King and Thornton a million times and always loved it. That location closed so we went to this one for breakfast and when we got there we were the only people in the restaurant. The server was very polite and a gentleman who I would assume was one of the owners came over and thanked us for coming. We ordered the $2.99 breakfast and that last minute we ordered an order of pancakes to share. The food came quickly but the pancakes were uncooked so after one bite each we left them and decided not to complain because the rest of the breakfast was great. The server and the gentleman both noticed came over asked if everything was okay and we just politely told them that the pancakes were not cooked but that it was fine. They promptly took the pancakes away in the gentleman came over and removed the pancakes from our bill. The service and the food were otherwise phenomenal and will definitely be back ourselves and with our kids. Anybody who lives in the area should definitely hit Johnny's their breakfast and other food on the menu never disappoints!

We happened upon this restaurant by accident (never heard of it before). Environment was a typical diner, a little dated, but clean and charming. Standard menu (we were too late for the Early bird breakfast special"). Waitress was well known by other patrons and friendly enough. Food came quickly, was got and tasty. Coffee was refreshed often enough. The owner even came our and greeted everyone personally. Would recommend this place to friends and would definitely return.

I was a long time customer of Johnny’s, frequented it often for breakfast, and when wanting to eat out it was our go to place. I can tell you with out a doubt, this eatery has gone downhill. Today was the last straw and will not go back. Walking in, we were not acknowledged, even when the waitress came over, there was no smile, we were just asked what we’d like. The booths were dated which was fine, but cutlery was not clean . Because of the dark decor, and the expressionless staff, I was unimpressed. It wasn’t a pleasant place to be. I ordered the club, and my husband ordered the boss burger. The portions were large, but my club which in the past was made with real turkey, was made with turkey lunch meat. Not impressed. My husbands burger was good. Before we were even finished eating, the bill was dropped off at the table, without a word. We weren’t asked if we wanted any dessert, coffee, or how the meal was. Some back info., I had noticed it going downhill, but continued to give them grace, being that I was a huge fan of there’s at one time. Hard times, Covid, I really tried to cut them a break. Today , finished me.

Haven't been here since 07-08 but the food is so good! The food is warm, like a home-cooked meal that warms you up during the wintertime. Just amazing! Bear fish and chips I've had since PB's was family owned!

Sad that I have to post this review as I actually use to really like the place. Yet it has become really out dated and over priced. Not only that.. they seem to not have as much pride in the food or service anymore. We were seated in a booth where the blinds didn't work and so caused the sun to be blinding at our table.. yet we worked with it eager to get some bfast. We ordered our food and waited 30mins before watching them serve the table that walked in AFTER us their food first. So once I asked where our food was.. she began to say she dosnt know it's not her fault. When I ordered.. I specifically asked for well done crispy bacon with my 3 egg bacon n egg bfast that took over 30 mins to get to the table. With undercooked bacon. No toast and my poutine was fit for a 2 year old with maybe a whole 10 fries on the mini plate. She than told me to give her back the bacon on a plate she provided. We said forget it n decided to leave. The lady who served us was another issue. Although she seems to be a nice lady because I have dined there before.. . Her hygiene for a restaurant food server is a big hard to be nice about. Her fingers r yellow and she is sweating like crazy. Sweat sweat sweat it's gross. It's literally dripping off of her. They need to turn the ac up for her as the place is stifling and she's the only waitress probably doing everything. Still... it was not a nice experience and I will never go back. Bye bye Johnny's. We had some good times. FYI.. Wimpys Is up the road with better food and customer service. Jus sayn. Xo

Not the friendliest staff you’ll ever meet but nothing wrong with a $2.99 three-egg breakfast even if the potatoes would not qualify as home fries; frozen discs that were seriously undercooked with no seasoning. It was worth a try anyway. Servers wore masks but one cook did not in the kitchen or when he walked into the dining room.

We were looking for a cheap breakfast special in the Oshawa area. So I Googled cheap breakfast specials and stumbled across this place. The restaurant opened at 9am. We were one of the first customers to come in. There was a strong scent of cigarette smoke in the restaurant. Not a great start. We ordered the breakfast special 3 eggs with homefries and texas toast for $3.99. If you want to add meat, you will need to ante up another $4.50 for 4 strips of bacon, ham, or 2 oven baked sausages. $5.50 for peameal bacon. From a value perspective, the breakfast special is a killer deal if you don't add meat. We got the bacon and sausage for our upgrades. The coffee is $3 with free refills. The coffee was freshly brewed and not watered down. The eggs were cooked perfectly, mine sunny side up, and wife had overeasy. The home fries were crispy and not oily. The ketchup looked kind of old as the colour was dark red. The bacon strips were gigantic and crispy. The sausages were a bit overcooked and dry. I would probably stick with the bacon next time. Overall, if you are looking for a cheap breakfast special, then you should definitely give them a try. Just know that once you upgrade and add a coffee you're looking at $15 per person with tax and tip.

If you come here to eat you can get anything and be comfortable knowing the food will be amazing. The cook has experience and it shows in every plate. They also have a burger challenge which is very interesting. You will love this place.

A nice and homey family restaurant. Very comforting atmosphere, friendly family-like staff keeps us coming back for more! Food is great, and always more than enough for the price!

This is a good mom and pop restaurant. Don't expect anything fancy (and the washrooms could use an overhaul) but they serve a great breakfast at a reasonable price, and the service is always friendly!!!

I love this restaurant. The food and service was good.. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. It was like eating at home. It wasn't fancy, just homestyle. The prices are reasonable.

Got fish n chips and my bf got a cheese burger. His burger was fine, my fish n chips on the other hand looked good but once I cut into it and took a bite the batter was uncooked/wet on the inside and the fish was super soggy and salty. The fries were good tho :)

$15 for 4 pieces of small thin over cooked peameal with fish flavoured scrambled eggs and decent frozen home fries. Rather go to Rainbow. We didnt even ask for the cheque yet and it was given to us without the total and tax. If you assumed we were separate, bring us separate bills. We were already put on the fence about ordering more to bring home for family but rushing us out

The burgers are phenomenal they are homemade! And the staff are so friendly! I gave 3 because of minor things, the bathrooms, and the poutine had shredded cheese instead of curds. But honestly the atmosphere is nice and the food was tasty !

My partner and myself have been twice now. Our first experience was just as lovely as our second. The coffee is delicious, the food is as well. Its not too salty, not at all greasy & absolutely delicious. Both times we left fully satisfied. The pricing is also a major bonus! The breakfast special is delicious & affordable even with an added side of bacon. The remainder of the menu also sounds delicious, is affordable & will leave you wanting to come back just to try everything. Staff are extremely friendly & professional. The atmosphere is very homey & comfortable. Even the location is super accessible!!

May family has been going here for years. A great little place for breakfast or lunch for us. Highly, highly recommended. :) The decor is a little dated... If you care about such things... The food, service and prices are all excellent. :)

Food was excellent and all made fresh.portions are large and staff is great. Been going here since I was young and love to eat here when I'm in the area. Its older, but tried and true <3

The area is a bit closed in and plays into the actual atmosphere. The waitresses will always ask you for a top up. Friendly and smiling. The food is extremely good. The portions for cod may be the best in value. Two medium size cod. Halibut is available as well. You don't have to look for a special. That's it the regular price. If I owned this place I'd extend the building into a corner for at least a third more of the extra room. That way customers feel more comfortable. Unless you can move the kitchen area further north. Use it an the cash area for extra floor space. The sign can use a bit of brightening up. Black and red. Difficult to see and read. From a distance.

Worst service I've ever experienced. Ordered over priced chicken fingers and a side of poutine. The chicken fingers were burnt to a crisp and the poutine was regular cheese. I didnt eat any of my food besides the half order of poutine. The roof of my mouth is cut up from the burnt batter. Was charged a ridiculous amount and was greeted with a bad attitude. I do not recommend at all. Truly disappointed.

Best burger ever and staffs. We ordered challenging menu which is 1.5 lb patty burger and numerous flies. I swear this burger is the most delicious one in this world. Also employees are so nice and friendly. I will definitely visit again from Japan.

Looks like it’s time to shut this place down, I think they have served their time! Just came from Johnnys and left before eating. Why you may ask? ANTS 🐜 All over my food… plenty. I couldn’t get a picture, as the waitress took the plate from me very quickly after I reacted! I will be calling the Canadian Food Inspection Agency or whoever I need to call to put this place to rest. To put the cherry on-top of this unfortunate situation, they made us pay for the drinks we ordered before recovering our bug infested plates! Never EVER again 👎
