I
joined
Valeo
in
October
2019.
I
had
no
idea
what
CrossFit
was.
None.
I
quickly
came
to
realize
that
lifting
heavy
things
is
addictive.
But
there's
no
pressure
to
be
a
superstar.
The
coaches
take
care
to
offer
scaling
options
until
you
can
do
more.
You
slowly
learn
how
to
do
all
the
movements,
while
simultaneously
staying
in
your
comfort
zone
AND
being
encouraged
to
do
more.
And
you'll
want
to.
Trust
me.
The
community
at
Valeo
is
incredible.
You'll
find
that
you're
eyeing
other
people
with
similar
abilities
to
you
(that
you
come
to
know
as
friends
with
whom
you
can
share
victories
and
war
stories).
And
it
bolsters
you
with
this
strange
sense
of
what
I'll
call
"comfortable
peer
pressure"
to
try
out
new
things
and
go
beyond
what
you
thought
you
could
do.
And
the
amazing
thing
is
that
you're
frequently
made
happy
when
you
see
that
the
person
next
to
you
has
achieved
something
you
know
they
were
working
on.
Not
even
your
own
stuff!
I
don't
think
that
happens
very
often
elsewhere.
The
messaging
from
all
the
Valeo
coaches
also
spills
into
the
other
parts
of
your
life:
work,
home,
spending
time
with
your
kids
or
pets,
time
with
friends.
What
you
work
on
at
Valeo
has
an
impact
on
your
life
outside
of
the
gym.
And
that
gets
talked
about
a
lot,
_in_
the
gym.
It's
not
compartmentalized:
what
you
put
in
at
Valeo
reaches
beyond
your
gym
hour.
I
think
that
kind
of
dynamic
is
rare.
Owner/coach
Joe
says
"Motion
is
lotion."
You
need
to
keep
moving.
My
opinion
is
that
this
is
the
most
fun
and
fulfilling
way
to
do
it.
