Pretty authentic spot for Chinese food! So far one of the better places in Ottawa. We come here whenever when we miss Chinese food. This time we got the dried fish and chicken fried rice, which was very good, and the beef ribs was also delicious.

The food was hot and fresh, the staff were friendly and spoke Chinese Mandarin, Chinese Cantonese and English. I love it when staff can speak multiple languages because communication is easier and for me it gives me an opportunity to be immersed in the languages and I can practice my Mandarin and Cantonese. Highly recommend Sea King for dim sum and Chinese food. 🥰

Visited in June 2023: It was our first time visiting this restaurant and we were impressed by the clearness of this place. Staff was very attentive, and they would approach you once eye contact was made. We tried the dim sum menu plus some few items off their regular menu. Food was brought out quickly after ordering (on Saturday, around 1 pm). Flavour wise, some dishes were a bit bland to our taste, but overall it was still tasty. Will definitely visit again to try other dishes!

My second time @ Seaking! The first time was a takeout on Christmas eve 2020. Due to high volumes of takeouts, we did have to wait an unexpected 2 hours for a pickup. However, the food was still delicious and we looked forward to dining in the future. Few weeks ago, we finally got to dine in and 😱 it was amazing 😋🤤🤤 Our fave was the shrimp rice roll! Eating at Seaking made me think ‘Now I’m not gonna enjoy eating at other Chinese restaurants as much’ because Seaking up’ed my Chinese food taste bud 😂 All food was very very good, but I would say the fried rice was typical and similar to other Chinese restaurants. I would dine here again and again! + another time @ Seaking with food and friendly staffs. I feel the taste of certain food were decent this time, while I really enjoyed the rice with seafood!

I've have numerous amazing experience with dimsum in Toronto and Montreal. This is the first dimsum I've tried in Ottawa after reading the reviews. I was skeptical, and I was right. No idea why people complimented on the dimsum here so much, because they are honestly very sub par to every dimsum I've had. Probably the most disappointing dimsum I've had in life, and I've been to many. Everything is great, the atmosphere, the service.. BUT Food QUALITY is a legit 2.5 stars. Asian fail. We ordered about 10 dishes. 4 of them are not even lukewarm but room temperature, including fried calamari (i make better than these rip off fried squid), fried taro, steamed (but cold?) soy ribs, and stuffed eggplant. They're all in the pic. Cold fried food is just disgusting, I'm sorry. On top of that, I'm a person who eats very little salt with a bland palette. Yet half the dish here has no taste. I cannot taste the taro, it just tastes like flour and deep fried oil. There is no salt in the calamari. Stuffed eggplant tastes super healthy, the most organic flavor of the eggplant and nothing else. Maybe the chef burnt his tongue today? I don't know, but T&T's got better and cheaper dimsum than this. The soup dumpling is also dried and stiff. It tastes like 3 day old leftover, Ive been there so I know what leftovers are like. I thought we come to restaurants to eat 'fresh' food, not some microwaved leftovers. Absolutely disappointed in these ratings. Maybe their dinner combos are better. I am willing to try again, I always give restaurants another chance if I can. I just wish there is something I can tell all my friends across Canada that we have in Ottawa worth coming for. Seriously. Up the standards a little bit. At least make your food worth the $7/ tiny soy sauce dish. More expensive and less quality - definitely not the deal any foodie appreciates.

Cantonese cuisine. Good portions. A medium place. The food was pretty good. Notable mention are the soft shell crab and gulou yuk (aka sweet and sour pork) was pretty good. Only downside to note was that some of the garnishment on the plate were very clear added afterwards and/or raw. (For example the sweet and sour pork had green peppers as garnishment but you could clearly taste the difference between the pork w the sauce vs the veggies) Didn't try any dessert so I didn't rate it. Caution for those that have trouble walking stairs because the store is located in the basement. I would come back again to this store.

Nothing really spectacular, doesn’t do anything different from all the other restaurants. It’s incredibly crowded with servers constantly rushing back and forth. They didn’t have any more glasses and took forever to get us our water. The fish was undercooked and they were out of a lot of dishes.

I have had takeout a couple times from here. There’s a 10% off coupon for takeout if you order from their website. -Lobster - good but maybe over cooked -BBQ pork - amazing -Salt and pepper shrimp - hit or miss. Oil seemed old. Will avoid in the future. -Soft shell crab - avoid. Seemed burnt and cooked in very old oil. -black bean clams - black bean sauce tastes like the one from mediocre Chinese restaurants (the one that is thick and sweet). Perhaps the recipe has changed over the years. -eggplant and deep fried tofu- good! Will probably return for other dishes.

Wow! Seriously thr best Chinese I had since 2015, and before that, 2012. We ordered a cabbage type vegetable that are in season for a few months, S&S pork ribs, fried rice, beef and broccoli and Kung pao chicken. Not greasy or fast food type. My family loved it as well. We will definitely return.

Went here to dine with some friends and family the other night. Their servers were nice, the food was okay and came out fast - almost too fast, which was probably due to the fact that we were one of the only tables there at that time (9:00pm). Some of the dishes we ordered came out undercooked, which made the texture more “chewy” than how it should taste and is usually prepared. We did have a little difficulty placing our order due to a language barrier, so we pulled out our phones to google images to use as references. I don’t know if it was because it was late and everyone was trying to quickly finish and go home but I was definitely a little disappointed with the quality of how everything was done that night, especially because our bill was over $200.00 - which I have no problem paying for, when the food is done right.

Typical Cantonese style cuisine in a family style setting. Generous portions, lots of sauce, pretty decently priced, and a good selection of seafood - (listed in Chinese on a whiteboard) Their bird’s nest is a little different - kinda like a giant fried wonton wrapper instead of the weaved fried taro basket. It’s not as impressive but lighter and tastier. We also love the beef on the sizzling plate.

My family and i have been dining at this establishment for over a decade. One of the best places in ottawa for authentic chinese-cantonese food. Service is relatively fast and food is great

Several friendly staff members greeted and sat us immediately after we entered. They took our order quickly and confirmed each item. The food was excellent as were the prices. They were also very helpful in packing up left-overs. This is going to be a new go-to spot!

I had the deep fried shrimp roll and it was really good. I also got the seafood fried rice, I didn’t enjoy it as much but it was a very generous portion.

5 stars food! Good and fast service! I hope the environment would get better, like more lighting to make it bright. Overall, good experience and I’ll definitely revisit

Really good dim sum, including some dishes I have not eaten before. There was a line up to get in on the weekend - which is always a good sign! After a 15 minute wait, we enjoyed our meal and plan to go back the next time we are in the mood for dim sum.

This restaurant has by far the best soft shell crab in the entire city! I honestly don't know how much the dish costs, but it's worth every cent. 🙂

Decent quality for Ottawa standard. The dimsim choices are decent. But the scallion pancake is very thick and doesn’t have much scallion in there. We ordered some stir fry to go for others, but they said the takeouts were mediocre. In general, before there is better options, this is a good choice.

Accessibility: Not accessible - down a steep flight of stairs, not a lot of space in restaurant, bathrooms through double doors. Absolutely amazing Dim Sum and extremely fast. June/23 5★ -All food was amazing. -Food was extremely fast - first few items within 2 minutes and whole meal out within about 7 minutes. -Service was very attentive and polite. -Despite needing our table almost immediately when we were finished due to a huge line, staff was very courteous and professional about it. -Washrooms needed attention, out of toilet paper and extremely dusty with big dust particles floating around. -Gets EXTREMELY busy but they are fast. Show up early otherwise expect a line. -Every dish was expertly made, huge menu to choose from along with condensed paper menu for common items. -I recommend looking up the menu beforehand and having an idea before you go, even the order taking was slightly rushed since they get so busy. Expect to only be able to order once. I've always heard excellent things about this restaurant and I'm so happy I've finally gotten the chance to try it. I cannot wait to return again for more Dim Sum.

Tasty Dim Sum, that you can order from the menu or pick off the carts! Haven't seen dim sum carts for a while. All Asian clientele this day, and that's a good sign. Food was tasty and mostly hot, good wok hei, but some was on the carts a little too long maybe. Not cheap but not crazy. An enjoyable YumCha experience!

I ordered some garlic shrimp and garlic chicken fried rice along with Hunan chicken. Didn't really enjoy the taste. I had neither salt nor soy sauce. The other comment on the fried rice left below makes me feel that my observation is genuine. The dishes are pricy

Went there last night for dinner. The shrimp shui mai are great. Hearty and tender. The eggplant in garlic sauce was also good, though it couldve used a touch less cornstarch and a touch more salt. The 1/2 fried chicken was excellent. My only complaint is that it retains a bit of a chicken “smell.” Maybe a more pungent marinade could eliminate this. The sesame beef was also very good, albeit prepare yourself for a perfumey orange bomb. All in all a good meal. Not my first time at this restaurant and not my last.

They took the wrong order and didn't take responsibility and blame the customer. They gave us shrimp, and we have really bad food allergy and they won't do anything about it. We would never order shrimp. It looks like left over from someone else's and they recooked it. There's shrimp tails, someone ate this before we did. It's not the first time they got the order wrong, this is their 3rd time. So see you never again!

We always go there for the food but their service needs to be improved. They gave us burnt noodles and we could not eat it because of the burnt smell.. I showed them and the manager still did not exchange the item neither said even sorry. Paid almost $20 for an item which we could not eat at all
