Disappointed. We wanted to try a new place. First impressions, it's a small, 20 seat restaurant. It was quite loud with people talking. The food did not meet expectations. There are better and more authentic tasting restaurants in the area for the same price. The veg biryani (my Fave dish) had no sauce; was so dry and lacking vegetables. The other dishes were lackluster, without the typical full flavour of Indian cooking. Sadly, I won't be going again.

This is my spot for when I want Butter Chicken. Best Butter Chicken in town. The flavour and consistency every time we go is always on point. Paired that with the garlic naan and it hits the spot for sure. It’s been a few years since we have had Little India Cafe but anytime we ask friends or family what there favorite Indian restaurant is it is Little India Cafe. We got to try Alo Gobi which is a vegetarian dish that I really enjoyed. Lots of flavour. Absolutely recommend you try it. It’s delicious What I like most about Little India Cafe is that you can select what kind of heat you would like, mild medium or hot. Another thing I can appreciate is during these uncertain times ordering is done online with a time slot. And only one person is allowed in the door where a member of the staff will great you at the window and ask for your name. The system is great as they make sure that the staff and customers are stay safe. Food 5 Customer Service 5 Overall experience 5 Chef Ram and Server Divya get high regards from me. My experience was amazing. Keep being again and I hope for another 30 years of amazing food. Thank you

We have eaten at the Little India Cafe for more than 25 years. My entire extended family are believers too. Hubby raised in England so Chicken Vindaloo was his go to, here he gets it "Tony Hot". He Loves Ramji's lamb Bhuna too (No Green Peppers Please ;) ). I like the Chicken Bhuna, Chicken Tikka Dry or Chicken Pakoras. Always with Raita and Nann. We pretty much have a "Ramji" once a week. ABSOLUTELY BEST in Ottawa. Good size servings , I usually have lunch later in week from leftovers. Food always marvelous. P.S. Dont be frightened of hot food, Ramji can make mild with flavours and aroma to tantalize any taste. Jill

The best Indian food ever! My husband is Indian and we've tried so many other places and we honestly have never found better. We literally drive from Orleans to get take out here and even when we lived in Alberta we used to bring left overs home on the plane when we'd visit Ottawa. Their food is always super fresh and consistent and the owners are such wonderful, humble people. Could not recommend them more! 1000% best Indian food in Ottawa hands down

My family and I have been enjoying Little India Cafe food for over 20 years now. We highly recommend it!!! We have hosted many parties and have brought home Little India dishes and have never been disappointed on the taste and quantity. We’ve brought many family and friends from Europe, America, Africa and India to dine in at the restaurant and everyone still remembers the great food by Ramji. Thank you for the great food and great service from the family and staff at Little India Cafe!!!

World Famous Butter Chicken & Garlic Naan Bread. Get the butter chicken. It is creamy, buttery, and royal. The chicken is perfectly cooked. Juicy. Large quantity of meat. Garlic naan. One for each person. Super yummy. Nice sesame seeds. Ordered the veg samosas. I’ve had better ones from there before. The okra dish was good. But we kept on going for dipping the naan into the butter chicken sauce. Curious to know the other dishes everyone likes. Also great value. They didn’t sky rocket their food prices like everyone else. Friendly staff. Good service.

The people at Little India Cafe are wonderful! I have an 17 month old and have been out of power and no stores around had milk for my son. They gave me their last bag of milk completely free of charge to help me and my son. Thank you sincerely from our hearts-we will always remember this!

Little shop with amazing food. Some of the best Indian dishes I've ever had. Well worth the price point. Everything tastes unique and it all is presented very appealingly. The staff is curtious and friendly. Even though it's a small cafe, I was able to call ahead and book a table for my large party. If you love Indian, you must check this place out.

Little India Cafe has been my all time favourite since my dad took me the first time when I was 13 (I'm 28 now, for reference). I feel the need to rebuttal any review less than 5 stars. Is the dining room small? Sure, but in my experience some of the best places can be a diamond in the rough. The food is incredibly flavourful, everything I have tried on the menu is clearly made with love from a family ran business. It will be a sad day when I move out of Ottawa because I will be thinking of leaving this restaurant, that's how much it has a hold on me lol.

Amazing experience at Little India Care. The staff were so kind and so professional. Our (20 month old) daughter loved the saffron rice. Amazing quality food, we will for sure keep coming back! Catalina, Anthony & Milania

The quality and quantity of the food has gone down significantly over the years. Their prices are among the highest in Ottawa for Indian food. Their portions are the smallest and the taste is below par. Will no longer be visiting them. East India Company in Bells Corner is far better, reasonably priced, with adequate portions and exceptional flavour.

Little India is one of the best Indian restaurants in ottawa. I have been there several times and their butter chicken is super amazing. The chef makes everything by himself and serves it with love. If you are looking for an authentic Indian food, don’t miss out this place.

Had a great lunch with a colleague there a of couple weeks ago (September 2022). It is a bit of a dive/hole in the wall, but the food was VERY tasty, and the chef/owner gave us a free extra order of rice to take with us for the leftovers. The chef/owner also asked us to post a review, so that people know that the Little India Cafe is open again. Which I am happy to do.

It's so disappointing how this place isn't consistent. I order the same thing every time... some days its great and some days its fine. Today, it's unbearably spicy I literally cannot eat it and there's TONS of ginger. All I can taste is intolerable spice and ginger. An absolute waste of $100. I don't think their cook knows what they're doing or, they just don't care.

This is the best authentic Indian food in Ottawa. It is definitely worth the ranking it was given in the Ottawa Citizen!!! I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Indian food or wishes to try it for the first time. It's my favorite place to have butter chicken, garlic Naan bread, also Gobi, and plenty more

Small halal authentic Indian restaurant with variety of food options. We ordered butter chicken with garlic Nan, Sekh Kebab and Samosa. I would say butter chicken was delicious and amazing with the bread and sekh kebab was not bad. Their service was excellent and the server was quite nice and helpful. Highly recommended and it’s worth trying out.

Good food but service was not at par. Had to wait and ask several times before getting food. Also clean environment should also be considered. It was good previously but now with new restaurants opening in Ottawa, they could go out of market very shortly if dont improve.

We have been coming to Little India Cafe for over a decade, we pass many other Indian restaurants to get here. We are always pleased with the quality of the ingredients, the flavours are spot on. We started coming here for lunch and while it’s not buffet style, you order from the menu two main choices, rice, naan, chick peas come along. It’s served in an oversized 3 section take out container, because you are guaranteed to have leftovers. We generally get two meals out of one lunch. So it’s great value! We love Little India Cafe for lunch, takeout and date nights! We are so pleased to see this place survive Covid and thrive! Keep up the great food and see you soon!

We had lunch Friday afternoon, was really good! Highly recommend. The bad: We went for the buffet, which was still listed on the website, but they are not having it. (Not enough customers due to people working from home I think) The good: I think the chef heard that’s what we came for, and came out to talk to us. Really nice guy. (All staff is great) recommended their combo meal instead, which is what we got. We got Butter Chicken, and Lamb Curry. The combo also comes with rice and chickpea, and all the Naan bread you want. I’d not had Lamb before, but really enjoyed it. The star was the butter chicken though, it was amazing! The sauce was just so rich and creamy, perfect for dipping the Naan, which was also really good. All in all, highly recommend!

Such nice folks running this place. Today I asked for my butter chicken to be a little customized (I like the meat bone-in), and they were so kind. As usual their butter chicken gets 5 stars for the smooth taste but extra points for cooking it the way we love. I order atleast twice a month and the quality stays the same! Great job ya'll!

Little Indian Cafe has good food and services for customers. If you try it once, I promise you are going to go again and again. I can say that the chief has the best experience in food.

It was my first time visiting and unfortunately it will be my last. I didn't find the food, service and atmosphere particularly enjoyable. The wait was quite long and staff didn't seem to be professional (from my perspective). I recommend to take your hard earned money elsewhere, if I could I would give 0 stars.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Little India Cafe with a large group, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience from start to finish. This family-run establishment truly captures the essence of Indian cuisine, and every aspect of our visit left us delighted. First and foremost, the service at Little India Cafe was exceptional. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our big group, ensuring that everyone was comfortable and well taken care of. Their attentiveness and genuine warmth made us feel like part of their extended family, and it was evident that they take great pride in their business. Now, let's talk about the food! Oh my, where do I even begin? The flavors bursting from each dish were simply incredible. From the aromatic spices to the perfectly balanced curries, every bite was a celebration of Indian cuisine. The menu offered a wide variety of options, catering to both vegetarians and meat lovers. Our group sampled a range of dishes, and each one surpassed our expectations. The quality of the ingredients was evident, and the presentation was impeccable. What truly sets Little India Cafe apart is the authenticity they bring to the table. You can sense the passion and love that goes into each dish. The recipes they use must have been passed down through generations, as the flavors transported us to the vibrant streets of India. The ambiance of the restaurant also adds to the overall experience, with its charming decor and cozy atmosphere. In addition to the exceptional food and service, the affordability of the meals at Little India Cafe was a pleasant surprise. Despite the high quality of the cuisine, the prices were reasonable and provided great value for money. It's refreshing to find a place that offers such a fantastic dining experience without breaking the bank. If you're a fan of Indian cuisine or simply looking to try something new, I wholeheartedly recommend Little India Cafe. The combination of their authentic dishes, accommodating service, and warm atmosphere make it an ideal destination for both small gatherings and larger groups. Pay them a visit, and you'll understand why this place has become a hidden gem in our community. I can't wait to return and explore more of their delectable menu.

Went here for the buffet on Father's day. Food was good here but this place is way too small for buffet's. It was very hard to squeeze past people to get food. For some reason there was a line of people just standing and waiting for a table in front of the steamline where the food was making it very hard for people to go up to get food. Not sure why the staff didn't tell them to wait outside because there was no space there.

This is the BEST little hole in the wall you will ever find for Indian food in Ottawa! Small restaurant, come early or be patient to be seated. You could do take out and it's all Awesome! Butter chicken, garlic naan (get enough for everyone otherwise you'll fight over it :>), chicken pakora are all family and friend favourites. We come from the other end of town for this place.

The service was friendly and efficient, and the food was very good. We got the butter chicken and the lamb korma, and I probably wouldn't change the order. The dishes were creamy, soft, and full of flavor. The quality of the food was definitely the winner and the main reason for the 4 stars. The price is on the higher end, and neither meal came with rice or naan bread. I got a single piece of naan bread for $6.50. For over $22 per dish, I feel like it should at least come with rice since it costs very little to make white rice and it's kind of necessary for the meal. I don't know when it became commonplace for Indian restaurants to not supply rice with a dish. The parking situation can be pretty tricky, as the lot doesn't seem to accommodate cars well (at least in the winter). There is some street parking as well.

Amazing food! This is a family run business that has been operating for over two decades and is, in my opinion, the best Indian food in Ottawa. My husband and I have been going here for years and years (my husband is orginally from The Punjab and will only eat here). It is a small restaurant but that is what makes it so special. The owners want to keep the quality high and that wouldn't be possible if they expanded. Everything they make is from scratch (even the yogurt) and their naan is the best I have ever had. We have tried so many of their dishes and have never been disappointed. They have such a good depth of flavour and are made with such care and attention. The lunch buffet is wonderful as is dining-in at night. My husband and I got married in 2010 and we had our meal catered from Little India. It was perfect. Please support this local business - it is a real gem in Ottawa, we are lucky to have this restaurant in our city. With lots of love to all the staff at Little India!!! See you again soon... Anna & Newton

Lunch buffet is back!! I’ve been waiting years (since Covid) for this! Food was amazing, quality and plentiful. Ram was there being welcoming as always. BY far best Indian food in the city.

Little India Cafe lunch buffet is finally back!!! Best Indian cuisine in Ottawa. Ram is not only an amazing chef, he's also a great host! So grateful this restaurant was able to survive the Covid crisis!!! Thank you Little India Cafe!!!

The food is always outstanding here. It's consistent, delicious and well done. We usually get some Onion Bhajis (which are always perfectly seasoned, crispy and never oily or wet), as well as a variety of curries with rice an naan. I have never had a bad dish here. The pickup time is always later than they say it will be (for takeout), but we're used to that and plan accordingly. Whenever we have eaten in restaurant, the service is pleasant. This is likely the restaurant we order from most consistently and it is a delicious treat that lets us enjoy leftovers for days.

Easily the best Indian food in Ottawa, maybe Canada, and I'm not exaggerating. My family hss come to this restaurant for over 25 years and the food has remained consistently good for that period of time. The owners are a hard working family who always have smiles on their faces. We know people who drive 45 minutes to grab food from here. Don't go anywhere else for Indian food in Ottawa. This is the best place hands down.

Although I am not Indian myself I grew up eating Indian cuisine and I could not be happier with Little Indian Cafe. The food is phenomenal! I primarily order the lamb Korma and I am always over the moon with the quality and taste of the food. I am one of those people who coriander taste like soap(unfortunately) but they always graciously omit it in my dishes. The onion bhajis are delicious. The Naan fabulous. I honestly can not recommend this restaurant enough.

  • 4/5 Igor G. 1 year ago on Google
I will start by saying this place has THE BEST butter chicken in Ottawa. And I have tried a lot here. Next to Banjara in Toronto this place probably is my second favorite butter chicken. The garlic naan is also excellent. And the veggie pakoras are good. My one major complaint is that its pretty expensive. I think like almost 8$ for rice alone. Over $23 for the butter chicken, but you do get a good portion. Then again a lot of things are going up in price these days. Still excellent and I highly recommend.

It has been nearly more than 3 weeks now that we have not heard any response from the restaurant. Still waiting. Really disheartening. Not sure why we were charged 23.95 for paneer bhuna and 9.90 dollars for two tandoori rotis which is insane amount for two rotis. Their dine in menu lists the price of paneer bhuna as 17.95 and one tandoori roti is 2.95 cad which means 5.90 cad for two rotis. I did not look at the bill and paid it believing in the restaurant that they will charge me the correct amount as per the menu shared to us when we went to dine in at the restaurant. The price looked at the higher side for us but we paid it because we trusted the restaurant for the bill however when we came back home and checked the prices again then we got to know about this thing. We were overcharged by the restaurant and it was our first time experiencing the food there. Really not happy with this behaviour of the restaurant for overcharging us the bill here for our hard earned dollars.I have attached the bill here as well for more reference to show how much we got charged for the food and people can compare the prices from the dine in menu and our bill. I am hoping a response from the restaurant here.
