The reasons for my low rating is that I requested an early check in and late check out. Never heard back from the hotel. When we arrived we were greeted by a less than friendly front desk staff. Very dry and non-personal. She did not even tell me what my room number was and when I asked her she just said "it's on the case", referring to the little paper sleeve that holds the room keys. Seriously? First time I've never been told my room number. At 11:20 the next morning she's calling my room to inform of the 11 o'clock checkout. I forgot to mention to her I requested a late check-out of Noon. Five minutes later the maid is knocking at the door. Then the front desk calls again to say we have 10 minutes or we'll be charged a fee. Upon checking out I waited at the front desk for several minutes even after saying HELLO, a couple of times. The same girl approached the desk and took the keys and said NOTHING.. .didn't even ask if we enjoyed the room or our stay etc. Worst customer service I've experienced at a hotel. If you actually want to be treated like family, I suggest the new Hyatt Hotel on Moodie drive. Besides all this, the bed was very comfortable and the bedding also nice. The Holiday Inn in Bells Corners, no fee for checking in early and checking out at noon wasn't a problem, they also have a friendly front desk staff.

Lots of possibilities to make the breakfast COVID safe! Wrap any bagels or food that is exposed, so people with out masked aren’t preparing there breakfast over other peoples food. Provide a proper line, so that people without masks aren’t standing beside those who are eating… and when review said it was super clean when there is pink mold in the corners of the showers!!!

Came in for a hockey tournament for my kid, booked the group block rate. Check in was handled by Dimitris who viscerally dislikes his job. I tried being friendly and asked how his day was going, to which he replied that I'd need to insert my credit card twice. They split our team up on different floors which is weird. Rest of the team checked in and had a similar unwelcoming experience. We appeared to be the only ones at the hotel. About an hour later some the kids are playing mini sticks with a foam puck in the hallway (a timeless tradition). Dimitris tells them to stop, informs them that this is their first warning and after three warnings he can kick the entire team out of the hotel. I wasn't aware that the entire team could be held responsible for the actions of a few. Doesn't really make sense. We asked if we could maybe set the kids up in the conference room so that they had an area to play and were told no. One of our kids spilled some milk so we asked for some Napkins to clean it up, smiling we said "don't worry they'll clean up their mess" to which the unsmiling concierge replied "yeah they better". Wouldn't recommend staying here based on the service.

Poor front desk service and extremely the staff was not interested in taking care of the customer . Breakfast area staff looks sad and not interested in working . Price is high with less facilities. In the night time , 10 boys were playing hockey in the lobby and the staff was least interested in stopping them . Was so inconvenient. In short , worst experience in a hotel stay and never coming back

2023-06-10 I had arrived by train to go to a funeral reception the afternoon I had arrived. By luck I decided I had just enough time to check in before leaving for the reception. The fellow at the reception told me that I had to use my credit card and PIN to access my room. I had already reserved my room with my credit card online, days earlier. He said that didn't matter, their system required using my credit card with PIN. I didn't have a PIN set up on my credit card. The Manager was not in, there was no one I could talk to other than the guy at the reception desk. I asked if I could cancel my reservation, I was told I could contact headquarters, and they could not tell me if I would be charged for the room the next day, as my reservation was with Best Western, not with this individual hotel. I called headquarters, they said they couldn't cancel (I believe the reason may have been not enough notice), and they would contact the manager and get back to me. The result was that Best Western couldn't cancel my reservation made online, the Manager of this particular hotel would neither access their computer nor appoint someone authority to handle the situation. There was room at the hotel nearby, but taking it would mean I might end up paying for the Best Western anyway, no one could tell me what would happen. I decided to get my PIN, and I was lucky I had this option as it was the weekend, and I didn't have many hours to get this resolved. I spent money on cabs, and was late for the funeral reception. For placing customers in a situation where they believe they have a room ready for them and then telling them when they arrive that they cannot get in without spending more time and money, I give this hotel a low rating. If I had gone to the funeral reception first, I don't believe I would have had the option of setting up a PIN. I was late to a funeral reception because of the manager's choices. For the sake of being fair/thorough, the bathroom barn door closed until the door handle hit the frame. The finish on the frame showed some minor wear at the location where they collide. This must result in some crushed fingers. When closed the barn door leaves an estimated 1 cm gap between it and the wall, which may leave a privacy concern for some customers. The included breakfast was pleasant, I enjoyed the turkey sausage, eggs, fruit salad, and hash browns. For those wishing to take public transportation, this hotel is in a great location for the bus system.

WOW!! Exceeded my expectations! Amazing rooms, cleanliness is excellent, good breakfast and highly knowledgable, friendly staff. Very modern ! I would definitely recommend and will definitely stay there again ! I have stayed at many Ottawa hotels but this one was definitely one of my favourites ! Safety features of this hotel are definitely a notable feature ! Tap cards do not dis activate and are needed for the elevators and will only bring you to your designated floor !!

Couldn’t have asked for a better hotel for our Ottawa concert. Our first time at the hotel and we will definitely return. Front desk staff were friendly and very helpful, rooms were spotless and a great location for restaurants. A breeze from start to finish, thank you!

Beautiful hotel with very modern features. We didn’t love the barn door style, bathroom door. (Very loud when sliding). Also very little storage space as there wasn't really any dresser. Staff service was amazing!

Room: bed ok but nowhere to sit other than weird bus bench furniture. Water pressure in shower is dismal. Hobbit-like weird 2 foot cable on hair dryer. Breakfast: provided but horrible. Service: slow, confused, and unhelpful. Lots of other hotels in the area. Don't recommend this one.

Although the hotel and rooms were very clean and recently renovated, the rest of the stay was poor. First, there is a $150 security deposit, on top of 2 nights pre-paid in advance. You then have to wait for that charge to come off your credit card in about 3-5 days. Second, TV didn't work in our room. Contacted front desk who promised to send someone next morning, didn't happen. Called back 2nd night and front desk clerk attempted to resolve herself but could not. As well, she seemed to be working alone. Third, breakfast was rough; ie sausages re-heated day to day. Overall, I wouldn't have been too concerned about the TV had they not charged a damage deposit. If the hotel thinks 60+ year old couple is going to damage a room, they should at least make sure the room and amenities are 100%. For a self-serve hotel with no additional amenities, $215 a night seems excessive.

New, clean, I like the nice simple and minimalist decor. I would have given the service zero stars because the night time front desk person who checked me in was rude and obtuse, and needs to be trained in hospitality The day time front desk person (Spencer David) was very polite, professional, friendly and helpful

A very nice hotel. The room was very comfortable and clean. The furniture all looked new. The all-day complimentary coffee was a really nice thing. Staff was super polite and helpful. There was plenty of parking right in front of the entrance.

For the most part this is a nice hotel. The room was modern and clean. Large bathroom with big shower. Staff was friendly. We traveled as a group to this hotel 6+ rooms. Some had problems with their TVs not working. The Continental breakfast was terrible. Dried out "hot food" all 3 days we were there. Same items every day.

I normally stay at a competitor hotel nearby but it was booked. Having never stayed at a Glo Best Western I thought i would give it a try. Reception was unfriendly and apathetic. The hotel reception area was clean and bright as were the hallways and workout room. The decor was colourful. My room was well appointed but the colour scheme was weird. The whole place felt and looked like a dorm for Google employees. Canary yellows and blues. Very cartoony. In the big picture that doesn’t mean much i guess but i just felt the whole place was unremarkable. Coupled with that, the hotel has few amenities and the location leaves a lot to be desired. Its on the highway and there is nothing close by as far as restaurants etc All in all, not bad but not great. The only way i could see myself returning is if nothing else is available.

This is a nice, new, quiet, basic hotel. It is just off the highway and is about a 15 minute drive into Ottawa and to shopping. There is a grocery store on the same street and it is only about a 5 minute drive to lots of restaurants. The beds and pillows were a little too soft for me but some people like that. The free breakfast was great. Our group was able to use the dining area near the lobby at night to watch TV and socialize. I also took advantage of the modern work out room that included apps and TV's on each machine. There is a great restaurant called Tommy's just 2 doors down from the hotel that is worth a visit to as well. I would recommend this hotel.

Got a cold response from the front reception especially Mr. Dimitri while checking in. Not at all welcoming. Not sure if it was a language problem or attitude problem or anything else. Good reception is very much required for travellers on entering accommodation after a long trip/drive. The rooms were good and the hotel was well located.

The only good thing was the breakfast, and the wonderful lady restocking it and cleaning the tables. We were on the other side, away from the hwy but heard the trucks ALL night long in between the drunk people yelling through the hallway, closing doors shook the floor, 2nd set of drinks trying to open every door, and that's all before 2am! Horrible place to stay!!!! Worst hotel ever! Couldn't even have a nice relaxing bath, NONE of the bathrooms have tubs, and all rooms are not truly accessible.

Booked a room on line and realized after the fact that the price was in US Dollars??!! I don't know why that is when I am in Canada booking a hotel in Canada. Very deceiving! The concierge was never present and very unfriendly when they were. The hotel seems new enough; however, I found on checking out that the door to my room did not latch and opens just by pushing....a little unsettling! There was also no cold water in the washroom sink. I notified the concierge upon checking out...I had to drag him out of the office, and they did not seem to understand the magnitude and just wished me a great day. Will never go back!

Great hotel, pricey in my opinion. The breakfast wS awful. I'm sure the fried potatoes were reheated a couple of times as was the sausage. Extremely clean modern rooms. I would consider staying here again if the price wS better.

Great and affordable hotel in a little suburb which seems odd at first but the hotel is modern and clean and staff is friendly. Our only complaint was the walls are thin as you can hear the loud sound of doors closing from the hall which woke us up a few times during the night. Otherwise, a great place to stay in Kanata which is a short drive from downtown Ottawa.

Zero stars if possible. Imagine try to reach a hotel of all places on their listed phone number to get an invalid signal/line. I called the corporate number and they just kept telling me to call the hotel. Visiting from Out of town and couldnt not get the common courtesy of an answer. Avoid this terrible eatablishment at all cost.

We really enjoyed our stay here! Everything was very modern and renovated, the rooms were great! We came with a volleyball team, the lobby had a great seating area for the team to hang out, and the breakfast was really suitable for athletes.

Neat tidy hotel, well situated. Front desk not the most helpful, breakfast really dreary and not worth the effort, the not palatable.. They do hold $150, for what I am not sure as you cannot charge anything to the room, and eight days later I am still awaiting the return of the $150. Zero water pressure in the shower as well. Sort just ruins the whole thing and will not return.

Clean, modern room, comfortable pillow choices. I hate the pillows that are so big that you can't sleep comfortable as a stomach sleeper. When the breakfast area is open and you can toast bagels etc...love that too. Around the corner is a Foodland i believe and within 2-3 minutes is Fat Boy Burritos. I travel a lot for work and this was my 2nd stay here.

Best hotel I have ever stayed at. Amazing staff, the beds were like fluffy clouds, and the decor was tasteful and lovely.

I don’t know why people are complaining about the highway. There is no high way issue, we stayed 3 nights with kids. No highway issues at all. Very nice and clean breakfast area with fresh food and coffee. I would definitely recommend to my family and friends.

I booked one night online, September 4. I called the Best Western reservation line to change it to the 4th and 5th. We were to attend our nephew's wedding and celebrate my wife's birthday with a friend in Ottawa. The reservation agent said she had canceled our first reservation (fine) and made a new one for the 3rd and 4th. I corrected her, saying we wanted the 4th and 5th and she told me she fixed it. The reservation confirmation email came through correctly. We arrived at the desk of the hotel just after 4 pm on the 4th (first night we booked) after a 5 hour drive. No room. It took them 30 minutes to figure out the problem: the reservation had gone through at their end for the 3rd and 4th. They showed me their paperwork. I showed them my confirmation email (the desk clerk asked to take my phone back into the office to show the manager). Because we didn't show on the 3rd they billed us for the night and canceled the second night. There was no room for us even for the second night of the reservation. However two FedEx pilots checked in while we were waiting who had called 30 minutes before. Eventually the front desk located a room for us at another hotel on the other side of Ottawa for an additional $100/night. I asked about a refund, and was told I would have to take it up with their finance person after the long weekend. I called after we got home and left a message, she wasn't available. The next day she called and left a message saying they would not refund the night because we were no-shows. I called back, she wasn't available, so I asked for a call back so we could discuss this. I called and left messages repeatedly in the last two weeks on her voicemail and have yet to receive a call back. We're out one night's reservation cost and an additional $200 for two nights at the other hotel.

It was clean, bed and room was very comfortable. Friendly staff and very polite. I would have loved a hot tub or pool but with covid still might not have been open.

  • 5/5 Barb R. 2 years ago on Google
This hotel was clean and modern. The bed was comfy and the big tv was great. I was on the 3rd floor facing the highway and I didn't hear the traffic at all. The Grab and Go breakfast was stocked very well in this covid time. I would recommend this place to everyone.

It is definitely a different hotel. Best Western tried some funky designs here that is nice but a bit strange. The room was good. The check in was ridiculous. One transition for a room deposit and a second for the room. We have two rooms books so had to do it twice and the guy at the counter was not very sharp so it took 15 minutes to check in two rooms. The proximity to the highway is not good. The windows do not block out a lot of noise. Their solution is white noise generators in the room which work BUT if you need silence to sleep, find another hotel.

The first night I noticed there wasn’t a hair dryer and they bring me a broken one and when I said can you take one from an unused room, they wouldn’t. I eventually got one but i don’t know why it wasn’t easy getting one. Then the rooms have bad windows - I was in a room by the highway and I may be slept for 1 hour due to the super loud highway noise. I called the front desk at 2 am and they said they don’t have any rooms to switch me which I know is a lie when you see the stickers on the doors indicating that they’ve cleaned and the room hasn’t been occupied yet. They said to check with them the next day. I checked the next day and the poor front desk worker had no authority to even cancel the booking and give me a refund or to change my rooms. The manager doesn’t work all the time but doesn’t give the staff any authority to do more than checking ppl in and out nor answers the phone. Oh someone burnt the bagel too so we had to evacuate the building for an hour or more. It was not a pleasant experience. I will not come back. The front desk worker was so nice I felt bad how limited authority he has with no support.

Enjoyed our stay at Glo. We enjoyed the free water, tea, and coffee. The room was clean and enough to sleep in. Since the room was a little tight for playing games or eating, we made good use of the lounge area. Great overall experience with a good location just outside Ottawa, with easy highway access.

Will not stay here again. Front desk Nadia was incredibly rude. Check in took forever. My bathroom smelled like cigarettes. It is so incredibly noisy at night because the highway is right there and there’s no sound proofing. Definitely find somewhere else to stay.

My wife and I stayed here for 1 night. She made the reservation. The price is way overpriced for the location and what you get. There is no pool. The complimentary breakfast is below par unless you really like eggs and toast. For the price you'd expect a full hot breakfast. We've had many full hot breakfasts at places that cost a 60$ a night less. They also didn't check anyones proof of vaccine or id's when we did breakfast. Which is whatever, but all the food is just sitting in the open free for everyone to touch and with the number of kids and people not wearing face masks throughout the hotel, you'd just expect more precautions in place. The rooms are very clean and nice. Bed was comfy but the rest of the furniture was not. TV service offered in the room is also mediocre compared to other cheaper hotels.

One of the best hotel experiences I’ve had. We’ve stayed here twice & had The most comfy bed both times & very clean rooms. We were by the highway & didn’t have any troubles sleeping at night, had an amazing sleep in-fact! Only deduction of a star because the breakfast could be better, but I never expect much from hotel breakfasts! Would give 4.5 starts if I could.

We had issues with noise and a number of men loitering outside in the parking lot with bongs and drinks. We did not realize at the time they were guests in the hotel, and we did not know they would be right beside us! I called down to tell Nadia at front desk and she told me there was nothing she could do . I told her that was unacceptable, and she said we could leave if we wanted to .for the rest of the night the guys came and went banging their doors and playing music all night . Now the walls in this hotel are paper thin . We did not complain to Nadia ( awful woman ) because she would have done nothing . So we were up the whole night , with the horrible neighbours -right next to us and across from us . Nadia’s attitude is unacceptable , she was rude and dismissive, and has no idea what customer service is . I spoke the Arif .. owner ? Manager ? Who did apologize, but also Made excuses .he also gave us 200 $ back after I asked for it . He did say she will be reprimanded. We stay at alot of hotels , this cheaply made , horrible service hotel is not worth the price . I won’t even mention how we heard the highway all night as well . When we checked out there was another smug woman at front desk who had attitude ( I guess she didn’t like that we complained ) there needs to be an overhaul here. Maybe re training ? Although you can’t change how cheap the place is 🥴

Nice and clean newer hotel. Loved fact room didn't have carpet. Bed comfy. Room spacious with coffee maker, mini fridge, desk and little couch. Only complaints is that if your room faces highway, wakes you up at 4am and breakfast could have be better. Love all day coffee though. 24 hr gym. Close to walking trails as well that are lit up at night. I'd stay here again, just want other wise of hotel.

Nadia and the rest of the team were great. People need to understand their reviews have an impact. And unfortunately the reviews left negatively speaking about staff only reflect poorly on those who've left the comments. Nadia was extremely professional and when I presented my passport it was explained to my why they no longer accept passports as ID. She was kind and sweet during my whole visit. She even met me in the hall when my key wouldn't work. The rest of the staff and the room were excellent. I'd definitely stay again!!

Nice hotel with complimentary breakfast, which is satisfactory but nothing great. Hotel is close to Hwy 417 but the rooms have the most amazing White Noise machines and we never heard a thing at night. The blinds are amazing dark for night time and the washroom is very over sized. Good experience overall with a very cozy bed.

We were happy with the room & the beds were quiet comfortable. The washroom was spacious which was great. They did not have a microwave which was a surprise & annoying to go down in the lobby & warm food. The breakfast was not great. They had limited options & the eggs were uncooked & tasteless. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Staff was welcoming.

Disco room decor in team Sweden colours was a nice surprise. Excellent bed and the service was good getting me in before check in time after many hours on the road. Breakfast was basic and the coffee serviceable. You're right next to the highway so there is noise, but it's also convenient.

I'm open to changing this, but so far, my experience has been terrible. My best friend is getting married this weekend. My partner and I have been calling for days now. We were told it was 179 and my friend confirmed with the manager that that would be the rate for anyone booking for her wedding. Nobody got back to us until today and now they're saying it's 280, they don't offer military discount, despite it being policy.. and they're also saying there are no more rooms now... Absolutely horrible and disgusting customer service. This is wild. Upon further investigation, I confirmed through the best Western website they DO offer the discount as per best western policies and the manager refused my husband. I don't know how to post screenshots to this but 10/10 do not recommend.
