This was my first visit to the retreat for the day and it was SO lovely. I started the day with a restorative yoga class that felt like a big hug. I then had the most amazing lunch where I had the egg sandwich and parm fries. It's one of the best meals I've had in a long time. I then went in the hot tub which I had to myself. I had a massge after spending a couple of hours outside reading surrounded by nature. What an incredible experience, I feel so lucky to have spent the whole fay there. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. This place is a hidden gem, can't wait to go back.

It is a dream. This place close to Ottawa is a hidden gem. Quiet, clean, service 10 stars, smile on faces, welcoming. I am amazed on how luxurious this place is with its people and cleanless. Food is simple but so tasty and so filling. 1 Billion BRAVOs!

The venue itself is easy to get to, lots of parking, and the grounds are well taken care of. I had attended a wedding, which was fabulous and the service team were lovely, kind and so very helpful and on top of things all night. The only thing that let this review down a few stars is the room. It was a king size room in the Guest House and I paid $222 for it, which it was certainly not worth that price. The room is severely outdated, bleach stains on the carpet, dusty, dirty and old. I am not worried about the sulphur smell of the water, having lived in the country, and seeing spiders in my room as well is understandable since you're staying in the country. But the rooms really need to be updated better if you're going to be charging Fairmont prices, and maybe include some bottles of water (1 per guest in room).

Attended a wedding in the Garden House and stayed overnight in the guest house. The venue is beautiful and even though it was quite hot on the day of the event, inside the building was air conditioned. The guest house room was a bit on the small side when compared to a hotel, but it was comfortable, air conditioned and had all the amenities you could want.

We stopped in for lunch on a beautiful Sunday and enjoyed sitting outside amongst the trees. The tables could use some fixing up, but this quickly faded from our attention once our meals arrived... Fresh, creative and very delicious!! Staff were very friendly. The menu changes periodically. My friends shared with me that the high quality food we enjoyed is typical. Combined with the long, scenic drive from Ottawa to get there and back, it made for a great afternoon.

I love the idea of doing my nails here and going for lunch at the same time. The massage and facials by Lauren and Julia were amazing today. Ask for them. I wish they had a sauna. Please work on that. Every retreat needs a big sauna. Friendly and happy people work here. We could all use more of that today. Enjoy being treated like the gorgeous awesome woman you are. Wonderful day I spent with my daughter for my Birthday! A big Thank You to Valentina for a relaxing facial/pedicure and Sara for fitting me into her busy schedule for my eyebrow tint. My visit was such a delight. Perfect for a relaxing girls weekend. The room was so clean, and easily accessible to the rest of the grounds. The spa staff were incredibly nice, and I had the best massage ever. The food at the cafe was delicious. I wish I could have those fries every day. The pool is clean, and it wasn't ever crowded when I was there. Highly recommend this place, and hope to go back some day!

The only reason I'm giving this location a 1 star is because of the wedding we attended which was lovely and the service staff were excellent. As for the rooms, I was 100%dissappointed! Strathmere could be so much more. It has the potential to be an elegant and beautiful spa/retreat/Inn but they missed on all the markers. Our rooms were dirty: HUNDREDS of bugs alive and dead gathered all in the window sill, carpets stained and grimy, hair all over the duvet, iron provided was wrapped in a plastic bag melted to the iron and full of old water and mold which poured on to us as we tried to use, these just to name a few. I would expect to have been provided at least 1 water bottle in the room for the guests, especially considering the water from the tap had an overwhelming sulphur smell from the well. There wasn't even a phone provided in the room to call the front desk or to check out (which they requested be done by phone!). We arrived for a wedding during the afternoon and the cafe wasn't open, apparently due to Covid, which makes no sense when you have 2 weddings going on. At the very least, there should have been an area to have a drink and relax to enjoy the surroundings. Nope! I would not recommend staying here, it is not worth the cost. I would recommend that the owners do a little travelling and see what an amazing Inn this could be.

We were there for a wedding, the outdoors space ceremony on the lodge was lovely, and the indoors area very cozy!

Quite simply an excellent place to get married. Staff was helpful and resourceful, although the event planner could have been more decisive on the day. Venue is absolutely gorgeous, food was delicious, the trip out is a bit of a trek but affordable accommodations are available on site if needed. All in all we truly loved getting married at the Farmhouse and would highly recommend it to others.

We held our wedding there in June 2023 and it was absolutely wonderful! The staff and wedding coordinator Lisa were all phenomenal. They made sure everything went as planned on our special day. The venue is beautiful, so many places to take amazing pictures. We held our wedding in the farmhouse and loved it! So many intimate spaces for great conversations and nice memories. We did our first dance outside under the lights which was intimate and then held a fire to do smores at night which was a great way to end the night. Would for sure recommend this venue!

The environment and foods are outstanding. All dishes that we had there have a rich, diverse, but also balanced flavor, color, and texture. We love the fresh salad and edible flowers but the crispy bacon and fries are a must. The chocolate brownie and maple cake are mouthwatering.

This venue was perfect for us! The location is beautiful - the farmhouse itself is stunning and there are so many spots to take pictures inside and out. We wanted an intimate, cozy wedding with an outdoor ceremony and the Farmhouse certainly delivered. One of the benefits of the venue was that it's already so beautiful it really doesn't need much in the way of extra decorations. We also loved how Strathmere is a more all-inclusive venue, coming with catering and bar staff, a getting ready lounge, onsite accommodations, some basic decor items, and a venue coordinator. Communication with Strathmere was very smooth and we never waited long to hear back. Our venue coordinator was Meghan, she was assigned to us a month before our wedding and was with us on the day of to make sure everything ran smoothly behind the scenes - she was fantastic and wonderful to work with.

A great classic wedding venue in Ottawa with good staff too! As a wedding videographer, I was impressed by the maintenance of the grounds - trees, gardens, grass was a good length, etc. The small things that matter when working with a couple. We stayed on the property for couple's photos as there is a variety of options to choose from (highly recommend the tree swing - makes for romantic photos/videos!). We'll be happy to be back!

The food and ambience were first class. Spa reservation however was not as pleasant as there was a mix up with times with no real explanation even after reading email confirmations between us. They did however honour the correct time, but after causing unnecessary stress.

Recently had our wedding in the Garden House with a cocktail reception, and it was amazing! Friendly and helpful staff throughout the entire process, and a beautiful facility. Based on our experience, we would absolutely recommend a fall wedding!

This is an amazing event facility. Whatever event you plan on. The staff here have all you need to pull off a truely first class event. Highly recommend for weddings, business retreats, classes... Seminars.. what ever you hold here, will come off exactly as you hoped

I had my wedding at Strathmere's Garden House in August 2023, and we had a great experience. The venue itself is beautiful, and we had a lovely outdoor ceremony in their garden. The interior itself was bright and airy, and Strathmere provided some decor (a card box, table numbers, and table lanterns). The food and staff were also awesome! We were paired with Lisa as our wedding coordinator and she was super great to work with - really professional, funny, and kept us organized and on track on the days leading up to the wedding and on the day itself. I would definitely recommend any event at Strathmere!

We (young couple) stayed for a night, got a meal at the cafe and had spa services. The staff is very kind and the grounds are quaint and cute. Good overall atmosphere. What we disliked most was the room (stayed in the guesthouse). We had many bugs around the window and on our bed. We called the front desk and were able to switch rooms after speaking to the night staff who was quick and responsive. The water smells like rotten eggs from the sulphur, so we weren't interested in taking a bath or drinking much of it. Would have appreciated a water bottle or two in the mini fridge (it is empty). Beds are comfortable but between the bugs, egg smelling water and very outdated furniture, I can't say we got our money's worth. The cafe was lovely--delicious food and drinks. No complaints there. The spa was nice. We got facials and had booked a couples massage, but we were in separate rooms the entire time, unexpectedly so. Again, the staff was wonderful but I've had better massages at similar prices. Lastly, the pool was well kept and quiet. Many cute spots around the area, including small garden spots. The hiking trails are really just a nice stroll, but are unkept (walking on long grass the entire time). Lots of bugs in the evening as expected. Overall, I don't think that we would return but I'm not mad at our stay.

Grounds and venue are beautiful. The problem was with the staff and food. Nothing offensive, just not what you'd expect from a venue with its stature.

Upon entering the parking area at this country retreat, the relaxation begins with a view of beautiful gardens and a delightful fireside area. A warm welcome from the team is a great start to our stay, followed by the calm gentle nature and expertise of the estheticians and therapists. Treatments can be followed by refreshment in the beautiful, calming cafe while enjoying views of the lovely surrounding grounds. Covid protocols in place for staff and client safety.

I can honestly say that we were really disappointed with our experience at Strathere. We had given them a downpayment and then covid hit in 2020. Many venues at the time were given refunds due to the pandemic, however ours didn't and we actually had to pay them even more for changing the date. Our coordinator (from Strathmere) was nice but did not do the job we were hoping for. I had given her a detailed visual of name placements for each table, and she put them all in the wrong spot. She also kept coming up to myself and the groom throughout the evening (while we were trying to enjoy ourselves) explaining that some of our guests would forget to wear their masks at times. I thought it was really inappropriate to continuously come up to myself and the groom when the venue should have been taking care of that themselves. The coordinator had also explained that she would make sure the servers would hand out our dessert to the guests and they had forgotten to do that. Lastly, our meals were really disappointing .At our taste testing 2 years ago, the dinner was incredibly delicious and filling. On our wedding night, the kitchen must have felt overwhelmed and unprepared because they served such small meals (a small salad) for our dinner which left people very hungry. The plate we were given on our taste testing was not an accurate representation of what we were actually given the night of our wedding. We have heard from multiple people how unsatisfied they were with the meals. We also spent an incredible amount of money on each dinner and expected the meals to represent the taste test. Unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend this venue. However, it was really beautiful and had amazing gardens.

Rooms were very dusty, vent was falling out the ceiling in the bathroom, carpet had not been vacuumed well, rooms smelt terribly humid. The bride called and changed my room reservation without me knowing, and Strathmere changed my room without even consulting me, which I was very shocked. I've never had that happen before where someone other than the reservation holder calls and changes the room. The grounds are beautiful, but the cleanliness and the room change were not acceptable to me.

Incredible attention to detail at our office Christmas party. The catering staff even ran dinner up to our babysitter's upstairs (one of the guests had a small baby) in the hotel. We'll be back and we're so glad we thought of Strathmere, a beautiful wedding venue and a very smart Christmas party option too!

We had our wedding at Strathmere in September at the Lodge, and everything was absolutely amazing! They did a fantastic job and coordinated everything, the venue was breathtaking, the food amazing and all the staff was super friendly and professional. Everyone I spoke to since the wedding has commented on how beautiful and great everything was. Special thanks to Meghan, Chris and Mary for all your help.

Strathmere hosted our corporate workshop event. They were professional, responsive, and provided great communication throughout the entire process from beginning to book the event, to checking out at the end. The facility was perfect for our needs and The Garden House provided exceptional natural light to help aid in the creative thinking that was needed for our workshop. The food was delicious and the rooms comfortable and equipped for our needs. I would highly recommend Strathmere to anyone looking for a unique corporate event space!

Thank you so much Strathmere for making my wedding day truly special. Meghan my coordinator was fantastic! The bartender and Chris at front desk were incredible. The venue itself is nothing short of breathtaking this time of year and the food.....the food is amazing and you get what you pay for. It's not often you get gourmet food in a proper serving but Strathmere do not cheap out. They want you to enjoy the food and not to leave hungry!!! I really cannot say enough about Meghan. She made it honestly! She was so cool, calm and collected. She was totally sweet funny and just great all around.

Lovely grounds and gardens. Beautiful, spacious dining room at the Retreat and abundant outdoor seating in gorgeous landscaped patio areas. Service was very friendly in the restaurant, but unfortunately also very slow. Food was excellent, but portions of some items were meagre. If time is not an issue, these are very pleasant surroundings in which to spend a few hours.

Spa service is good but they β€œinvite” you to buy a coffee from the cafe while you have a $70 pedicure. Most other places offer latte, fruit cocktail, even champagne while you are already a customer. Takes experience from great to good...

My husband and I got married at the Garden House at Strathmere and we had the most perfect day. Our guests loved the food and the service from the Strathmere team. Even with the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, we had a wonderful time. The venue was very accommodating and they helped make our day incredibly special.

What a lovely day! Such a pleasure to be the first guest back for the renew spa retreat package. The staff were really welcoming and professional, the grounds are beautiful and well kept, the food amazing and treatments too. An all around wonderful day of some alone time and needed rest.
