Ottawa's Poplar Grove Campground/ RV Park

Campground

🫤 Travelled from Alberta to stay here for a bit and it seemed ok from their website. Having the pool was a nice add on considering it’s $68 a day (family of 4 with a 5th wheel) Which is quite expensive considering. Wifi is not included. $20 for the week and can only connect up to two devices. I found... People often mention pool, campground, Ottawa, water, site, family, night, friendly, staff, great,

Travelled from Alberta to stay here for a bit and it seemed ok from their website. Having the pool was a nice add on considering it’s $68 a day (family of 4 with a 5th wheel) Which is quite expensive considering. Wifi is not included. $20 for the week and can only connect up to two devices. I found it would disconnect and reconnect so often it wasn’t worth it. Could barely stream and at night it was worse. Not sure if maybe it’s just bare minimum wifi to make a buck and too many people were on the same band? The pool is ok. It’s so hot in the pool room like a sauna but the pool is a bit cooler; heated though which is nice for little kids and people who enjoy a bit of warmth. Nothing else in there just some benches and stairs. Showers and change rooms. Very minimal and definitely outdated/stained/rusted but it works. The campsites are TINY! My neighbours are approx 6-8ft away from me on either side. It’s crazy. You could hear all the commotion. Never seen anything like it in my life honestly for what they charge. All guests and people are an extra charge per night. So obviously we paid extra to have our kids here as if that’s a choice… The main complaint I have is the water. The water is supposed to be potable but my god. It’s green… I got it straight from the tap not even from our trailer and it runs with this green hue. I’ve been told it’s perfectly safe yet my daughter and I have had stomach cramps and issues running to the bathroom after drinking it. The cost is not justifiable. Considering I could have parked anywhere else, saved the money and dry camped if needed. They do their best it seems to upkeep the place which for those who truly don’t care; it’s ok but we won’t be staying here again. There are many places that charge the same and provide at least clean drinking water.

Park is remote which makes it quieter at night but 15 to 20 km to stores or attractions. Park is run down but grass cut and neat. Kids playground is rusty so we walked about 5 minutes to library and city playground. Limited biking trails in the area.Road riding. Indoor pool was very good. No need to put on sunscreen. Clean but dated. Open year round and could be enjoyed while extending your RV season.Staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating.

Nice quiet and roomy campground for a pleasant stay. Convenient to downtown Ottawa and there is a grocery, liquor store, pharmacy, dollar store all within a 3 minutes drive. Pool, laundry and bathroom facilities, picnic table and fire pit with wood for sale. (No personal wood because of potential bugs). Office staff is very helpful and super friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights stay!

I really enjoy this campground. It is really well treed and serene, and the sites are all nature and calming. The staff are very friendly too. You do get some noise pollution with planes starting to descend for the Ottawa Airport, but its actually kind of cool seeing the different planes at night when you're hanging out around the campfire. I will definitely come here again.

We stayed here at the Poplar Grove Campground while visiting family in the Ottawa area. The location was great as it was pretty central to everything we needed. The campground is a little dated, but I can't complain at all about the services and the staff. I like the fact that it is somewhat security controlled, however there was a theft on our first night because someone left their car unlocked. The water pressure was a little low due to the fact that it hasn't rained in the Ottawa much this past summer. Guest need to pay $5 to visit. I get it, covers the maintenance somewhat. Overall, a solid 4 out 5.

RV park very well kept & clean. I needed an RV park close to downtown Ottawa & something with a pool if it rained. Loved the indoor pool and used it almost everyday out of the 8 days we were in town. Excellent playground. The water slide has been taken down. We played mini putt. Lots of space for walking your dogs. Very quiet. Suited out two year old and 12 year old. Would come back again. Regarding planes, there will be a handful that will fly by between 8-10pm.

If you are looking for a campground to relax this is it. Stayed there for 9 nights and got some of the best sleep I have ever had while camping. The staff was friendly and pleasant. The indoor pool was awesome to cool down on hot days in the pool without being in the hot sun. You can tell this campground has been there for a while but what you need works and is kept clean. If you are looking for a place to party this place may not be for you, but if you are looking for a place to relax in the evening after spending the day in Ottawa (only minutes away) then this is it.

we stayed here for a week my only complaint and the reason i wont go back it the water that comes into your trailer is all yellow, even if you have a water filter it comes through as dark yellow. Everything else was awesome and the owners are very friendly i just could not get past the water issue

The lady that is at the gatehouse is extremely unpleasant, no visitors after 9 pm and actually shut the gate, the other guy that works there circles the camp site all night in his loud pick up truck when the whole site isn’t that big, the folks that run this place should maybe think about retirement as clearly they don’t enjoy running it anymore! Bathrooms are okay for what it is Was the most expensive camp site across Canada from Quebec to Alberta And would definitely not stay there again

This RV Park was amazing. So close to Ottawa and yet the setting seemed like you were in the country. Definitely a 'diamond in the ruff'!

I was charged 10$ to walk from the parking lot up to my mother's trailer for less than an hour to bring over her groceries. Found out later that my mom had already paid to have visitors on her site anyway. She also told me that she was charged 20$ for a card that allowed her to re-enter the campground, which is outrageous. I have never heard of any campground charging an additional fee to let you leave and come back to your site. The two staff I encountered were interregotive and rude. It was an awful experience as a visitor and I would not recommend staying here.

I stayed here for 2 nights, overall it's a pretty good place. I stayed at a Montreal KOA the night before, and had I known of this place, I would have traveled through to stay at this place a third night. Its an easy drive to downtown tourist attractions, and a casino 9 minutes away..lol. The washrooms and showers are dated, but are ok... otherwise i would have given 5 stars. Our campsite was spaced apart pretty good, not crowded at all. Overall, for price versus value, it's a great deal and a great place. Don't know when, but "I'll be back"

Good location to Ottawa, but under planes flight path. Friendly gal at drive-thru window at checkin but that’s where it ended. Outdated campground & old/dirty/dated bathrooms. Terrible WiFi and located next to loud party 3am neighbors. Asked for full service site, which many were open, didn’t get one & parked in a field…disappointed and this is why campers go to a KOA!

Best feature is it’s proximity to Ottawa. Otherwise the campground is very dated. Appears that owners are looking for sale to developers rather than spending money on necessary maintenance. As noted by other reviewers, there is no inclination to accept responsibility for anything.

We love Poplar Grove Campground! We have camped there and stored our trailer there for a couple of years. We absolutely love Diana and Chris and family! Have made great friends here and had many great times! We are becoming seasonal campers here next year!

Really enjoyed the indoor pool, it was cool to be able to swim when it was cold outside.

Staff was very nice and helpful, I've read reviews about the park being all outdated but that's overrated, cleanliness isn't overrated and the park was clean from the sites to the bathrooms, to the pool area. Loved the pool, indoor and heated the kids had a blast at it. Sites were decent in size and had plenty of room for everything. Theres a grocery store 2 minuted away sonyou dont have tontravel far if you need anything. Thanks for a nice enjoyable week.

Great campground, a lovely pool and walking distance to shops. The staff are great. Coming back next year too. It’s in an excellent location to get to down town. Bank street takes you straight there.

Campground is a little old and needs a bit of love but overall if you need something close to the city where you can relax and chill with family and friends this is a good place to go. Owners are very nice

Primarily seasonal sites, few others with full hookups. Non-seasonal sites were very small and close together and charged $5/person for visitors including a 1 year old infant. Wifi charges as well but low bandwidth and not worth the money. If you don't plan on spending much time at your site (i.e. mainly in Ottawa or elsewhere) it's adequate.

I love this place!!! Me and my family stayed here it's far enough out of the city it's pretty quiet. the owners are extremely friendly. I love the face that looking around there are site in the trees that have power and water as well sewer hook up. I'm pretty sure my family was the loudest here and nobody complained. I'd come back here again with out a second thought. My biggest complaint is that the pool they have is indoors. If you want a quiet family camp ground this is the place to go!

Great stay! Quiet site. They were very busy and I didn’t look far in advance so I wasn’t able to get a site with sewer. Showers could use a little TLC but other than that the campsite was great!
