This is a very lovely park. One of the busier parks that I have been to for the provincial parks this year. Lots of signage to warn people of the ticks in the area, but surprisingly didn't see any and went on a few paths that were off trail. Great place to bring the kids for a day of fishing or swimming at the public beach. Nice variety of camp spots. Lots of great spots to fish. For an added treat, the pizza place in Fitzroy Harbour will deliver to you camp site.

Park is small but unique. It has two camp grounds, two beaches. No visitor center. Small park store is very organized and it has Coffee, milk, egg, pancake mixture and all the other standard items such ice, firewood etc. Park store supervisor lady M.Hicks is efficient and dealing with long lineup while training two new hires. Canoe rentals start at 8AM and $ 50 for 24 hrs. Can rent for 12 hrs and min 4hrs. All the camp sites are different to each other. We had a non electric site(pine grove) and all the site have adequate privacy. Beach area has a large public area there is lots of room without it feeling crowded. The only wish is that the roped off section is small and feeling congested.

Relaxing and close by Ottawa. 1 hour drive at most. Renovated brand new facilities $43/ tax in per night. None electric campsite. Save réservation of $10 if not use reservation system. But you are taking a chance especially on high season. However campsites are far from recreational areas. There are a few hiking trails but nothing special or long. Dog friendly but mush be on leash the whole time. Water not clear and beach area is small. But again, facilities clean and new.

Fitzroy Provincial Park is a serene camping destination situated at the confluence of the Carp River and the Ottawa River. The campgrounds, Pine Grove and Two Rivers, welcome visitors from Spring to Fall on a first-come, first-served reservation basis. This park is truly exceptional! Our spacious Electric RV site provided ample room. The nature trails are fantastic, including a shorter one suitable for young children. The Terrace Trail, a delightful 1.9-km loop, offered us a thoroughly enjoyable walking experience. While the beach is on the smaller side, it's conveniently within walking distance of the trails, rivers, The washroom facilities are impressive – the best we've encountered in the region. The calm water is perfect for those interested in exploring various water sports. Don't miss the excellent park store, and be sure to treat yourself to some ice cream at the campground store. Overall, this park is an excellent choice for a family picnic, camping trip, or a leisurely hike along the flowing water stream. The restrooms is very clean, the park is well-maintained with clear signage, and our experience was undeniably positive.

Clean and well organized provincial park, just 35 minutes away from Kanata. The sites are big with a fireplace on each spot. Showers and restrooms are clean with hot water and baby changing tables. No lights in the park, only near the showers. In the park you can find a convenient store with the most popular items and Kawartha ice cream (for 2.5/4.5 cad). It is highly recommended to visit the beach on a sunny hot day. Well organized picnic area with tables and even a playground for kids.

Amazing park, not crowded, it got all the amenities for a one day trip, family friendly place. It has beach, trails, children's park, camp ground etc. Note that there is no life guard in the beach so mindful about that. It has two trails, take bug spray if you walking it. The ticket is $18 per vehicle. We will definitely go again.

Great park in proximity to the city. We come to this campground every year. There’s lots to do for everyone. They have a great beach (there’s also a second smaller one) and a boat launch. You can rent canoes and kayaks. There are also a couple of decent paths to walk. The campground is fairly large so also great for walking around. There is a great selection of lots ranging in sizes, privacy, and location (woodsy, by either rivers - the Ottawa or the carp rivers). We prefer the lots by the Carp river since they are quite huge. Book early for the best lots though. The latrines can get a bit gross but this is mostly due to the human factor i.e. gross people leave toilet paper all over the floor and toilet. The comfort stations are extremely clean. In fact the park employees are quite busy going around cleaning the park on a continuous basis. The park store has a good selection of items in case of a pinch and has great opening hours. We enjoy coming back year after year.

I took a two day camping trip. Check-in was less than 5 minutes. The site was exactly as described in the website with pictures. The walk to the beach is short and the little hiking trails are nice. Convenience store was... Convenient. I would suggest there to be a sidewalk or paint line painted along the main road for a designated pedestrian/bike path

My favorite provincial park. It has everything. Lovely hiking trails, beach to swim or 2 rivers to boat in. Very picturesque with a mixture of old hard wood and White Pine trees. Camp sites are more spacious than most other parks. Clean and well kept.

Spent 3 nights at Fitzroy. Very pleased with our experience. Bark chips everywhere was a pleasant surprise instead of mud. Gravelly area for trailer and car. Social distancing was good, and everyone adhered to masks in washrooms.

I didn't camp there yet but I usually go for the day use picnic area and beach and we always have a blast there. Day-use costs $18 that you need to pay at the front desk (if you have the disability permit you get 50% discount) The picnic area has those stand up grills so you can do charcoal BBQ and you may bring your own grill . You can rent a canoe or a kayak (around $20 for a couple of hour, pretty decent !) Or bring your own. There is a beach volleyball court and a nice little play structure. They got a fairly maintained washrooms and a lot of parking spots. The staff is super nice. Overall, it is an amazing place for the whole family. Enjoy !

Great place to take the family for an outing. Free from Monday-thursday. Water is clean and not too deep. Washrooms could be a bit cleaner. There are two trails to hike as well. Overall decent beach.

We had campsite #2 at the Pinegrove campground. I liked that it led down to the water. Keep in mind, it’s more of a swampy stream. But kids still had fun walking in it and we saw deer crossing twice in our 3 days there. There are 2 nice beaches nearby. Both stay shallow a ways out, so great for young kids. One was walking distance and the other a short drive. There are a couple walking trails and you can rent a canoe for 4 hours min for $35 (wish you could do less time bc kids only lasted 1 hour and also the river is super rocky, so you can’t really go far w/out getting stuck in rocks and having to keep a constant eye out). Bathrooms could be more clean (they were cleaned once in our 3 days there). Liked that there were lots of showers and free to use. There’s A LOT of wildlife, including seeing a skunk in our campsite and we had raccoons open our closed storage totes and steal bags of chips at night. Suggest keeping all containers/coolers with food in your car at night! I truly wish there were more electrical sites available. It was high 80’s-90°F when we were there and it didn’t cool down very much at night. Was definitely wishing for a fan and also had to ask other ppl to use their electrical to put air in our air mattress. Came home with poison ivy, so definitely be careful of that. All in all, I would still recommend for a family vacation with a 2 year old and 8 month old. There’s a Tim Hortons & Dairy Queen 15 mins away, if you want to grab a treat away from the campground.

We've went camping here twice now. Would liked to have went more but just didn't work out due to the pandemic. This is a nice park to camp at. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The park has a store on site where you can buy all sorts of goodies, firewood, gifts/memorabilia and they even sell different flavors of ice cream. There are two beaches, the main beach has a park with play structure, multiple new washrooms, picnic tables and charcoal BBQs. The beach is large enough and the water is generally free of weeds and muck. All in all a decent beach. The second beach is smaller and not as good. There is a slightly older comfort station but I believe they have a newer one built on the other side of the campground. The campsites themselves come in all sizes from small tents with no electricity to large site for RVs with electricity.

Beautiful park, pretty quiet. The only downside is a lot of the campsites are pretty open. Only a handful really have any privacy, so if you want a good one, book in advance and look at site pictures. Otherwise a lovely park!

Nicest staff you can expect in a provincial park. There were no organized kids activities during the week we visited but kids enjoyed lot. Enough space in the beach to play and nearby play area. Kayaks can be rented in parks store. Camping areas were busy during the weekend but was not loud.

We went to Fitzroy Provincial Park with no expectations. It was lovely. We walked the trails and checked out the beach area. We got there early so it wasn't very busy and as we were leaving, the crowds were gathering. You can launch a kayak from the beach, swim, picnic, play volleyball. The families were having a great time. We will definitely go back now that we have found this gem.

Fitzroy provincial park campground is a great camping area especially in groups, with tents and pre planned events. I had the chance to participate as a scouter in Camporee 2022 with scouts Canada, 3rd Kanata group, Beavers colony and Coubs Pack. I strongly recommend Fitzroy provincial park campground, Hoffner, be prepared against mosquitos and ticks, and any other insects. We have recorded visits to tents by small frogs and spiders. Please make sure you're tent is clean before you sleep, and never leave a zipper door open when you're out. Update: I had the chance to participate to Camporee 2023 with all my family and with hundreds of other amazing people from scouts Canada and their guests (parents and siblings). The attendance had doubled, the pleasure has been multiplied. Thank you ❤️ Reviewed by Tarek Belghith, RZ Network Kanata ON, Canada.

Lovely campground close to Ottawa. During the summer, you can rent canoes and paddle around on the Ottawa river. Some of the campsites can be packed side by side without a lot of forest cover between each other so you don’t really get a lot of privacy. Other sites are better - so have a peek around. Thanks Ontario Paris for allowing no-fee reservations, changes and cancellations this year due to Covid.

The water quality here is very clear because many people swim in it; and there are many dining chairs for tourists, which is convenient for tourists to play on the beach. Meanwhile, it is also convenient for some friends who love charcoal. LoL.

I will give 3.5. The park is small and the river view is so so. But the shining parts are the trails and the amenity. I love the Mulch on the trails, which makes my walking comfortable and pleasing. The toilets are maintained well during this COVID-19 period.

Not gonna lie, I thought this park was horrible when my friends were nasty commenting about it, but the truth is it’s awesome. The water was clear and the family loved it. We found nice paths we were able to walk through and found very beautiful and quiet places. The park is very great, lots of tables enough for lots. The park has a small store where you can find fireworks, drinks, ice cream, chocolate and more things... It’s not next to the park directly, we walked for a maximum of 10 minutes. You can have a barbecue there and swim! The only thing we didn’t like about it, is that dogs are allowed and the maximum of people is 150 CARS! The bathrooms are very clean, every hour or so they clean them. And there’s a small playground with swings, slides and nice entertainment for little kids. Totally recommend it. We had lots of fun and were going there again.

Stayed Thursday until Monday. The site was good and clean. Lots of well kept trails. Everything is within walking distance. Cell phone service is spotty, but that's not why I came here. I've been here before, and will definitely come again.

Close enough to a town to pick up groceries or camping equipment because things were forgotten at home, yet feels remote. Nice staff, great selection of sites from secluded to partially secluded for privacy and non secluded to join up with friends and family for big get together on neighboring lots. Nicely groomed beach, seaweeds beyond the buoys, lots of picnic tables. Facilities have some age to them and could use a good renovation. Most of the showers at the lower site gad grout missing and cracked tiles. Hot water was available though.

Beach - Lots of picnic tables ,plenty of shade, and large sandy beach. Unfortunately there’s limited parking. Two Rivers Beach - not a great view ( hydro station) Boat launch- good size and good amount of parking Camp sites- range from very poor privacy and bald sun, to very nice shade and private. Clean bathrooms

Beautiful park. Would be better if sites had water hook up and if power were closer on sites. Some sites it's close but some sites the pole is 50 ft from where your trailer goes and you may need a 30 Amp extension cord.

We visited for a walk through the falls trail. There are not many to offer, but they are very nice and not difficult. However, I recommend you keep your eyes on the trails while moving due to the roots that can catch the unsuspecting toe. There are areas that are steep, but only a few and very short. The trail took us about an hour to complete at a leisurely pace, stopping to watch squirrels and birds along the way. Visiting in late August, the waterfalls were just mud with no trickle of water to be seen. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the scenery and the walk.

A great camping option not far from Ottawa. The sites are fairly close, and there is little privacy, but that's to expected at a provincial park campground. The came store has the essentials, and a large Metro is only 20 minutes away in Arnprior.

We are back for our second camping trip and having a blast. We did Carp trail and the Terraces trail. Both great trails for young kids. Make sure you stop and grab a guide to the trail at the registration hut as it has some really great facts about the trail and the rocks you are viewing.

Very cute park to do several different activities like swimming, having a picnic, hiking, camping and more. Daily fee is $20 and it is very nice and clean. The view is amazing during sunset. Be careful as you are driving as the roads are very bumpy and curved. Lots of mosquitoes so you should bring a spray.

Went camping here last weekend and had a great experience. The bathrooms and showers were very clean, the staff was helpful and pleasant. The Park store was reasonably priced and had ice cream. The beach had a lot of goose poop (I think that’s what it was) in some areas which was not ideal with small kids running around. But otherwise the beach was in good condition for play and swim.

Great place to camp! Beautiful campground. Walking trails, power dam, beaches, lots of sites, lots of water fill locations and washrooms. One downside for us, it was hard to find a site that fit our trailer with hook ups and firepit on correct side. I've never had this problem at KOA. Took an hour of switchihg sites to find one that worked. Luckily it was September and lots of sites to choose from.

Poor, staff rude, bathroom dirty, the set up of campsites are small and cramped, boat launched had no docks nor places to lock small or store small boats. Worst provincial park after nearly 40 years in them. Beach no parking, it goes on..

  • 3/5 kay e. 3 years ago on Google
I wish that the water front sites had electricity. I also wish there was not a hydro plant across the lake, soiling the beautiful view and limiting boating. If you have small children theres a playground and the water is great for kids swimming. If you prefer boating while you camp, I do not recommend. However, theres a couple great trails, well maintained and a volleyball court!

Fitzroy is one of the better provincial parks we've camped at. There's a good variety of sites but if you want privacy you'll have to settle for a non-electric site. With a large public area there is lots of room without it feeling crowded. The only small wish is that the roped off section of beach could be larger. Much of it is shallow but it's enough to cool off in. It's on a river so I expect that there is a current further out and might have led to the shallow beach. Facilities are clean and didn't feel over used. We stayed the very end of August.

Great location, beautiful beach. Canoe/kayak/paddle board rentals available. One of the top provincial parks I've stayed, well run and maintained, even had 30 amp extensions available to rent which we almost needed. Worth a visit and very well priced. Wish there was 50 amp and water/sewer available, but this is standard for provincial parks. Will definitely go again!
