The facilities themselves are nice. Lots of equipment and good variety. Staff however are terrible. They could not care less if they tried. Constantly 3-4 staff just sitting at the front desk doing nothing. Movati claims to have a club atmosphere which is a total lie. No rules are enforced, people walk around without shoes on and the supposed dress code is non existent. Gym patrons are the typical gym bros. Not cleaning the weights/machines after use, blocking walkways and equipment, no respect for anyone else's space. This wouldn't be a problem if staff cared, but again, they do not. The weights are normally in a status of disarray as no one cares to put things back. Bars on constantly full of plates with no one using them. Fixed Bars and dumbells in random spots, staff doesn't care to have them cleaned up. The only saving grace about this place is the facility itself. The pool is nice, and when open the steam room and sauna are nice to have. Can't comment on the women only areas as I obviously cannot experience them. Good if you are looking for a women's only experience. 2023 edit: all of the problem above are now way worse. Gym is always crazy busy which is just amplifies the lack of cleanliness and disarray of the equipment. More people constantly with no shoes on the gym floor, constantly finding chalk all over the floor and plates at every squat rack. It's disgusting. Loses the one bonus star for the facilities as they are never clean or where they are supposed to be.

Admittedly a new member but so far my experience has been great. Staff have been super personable and I can usually get any equipment I want (even during the post work rush) My only con is that there are never enough classes at times that I'd want to go. Feels like more evening classes are necessary at this point.

I have been a loyal member of Movati for a long time. It's understandable that maintenance costs may have increased, but the overcapacity enrollment issue has truly become unbearable!!!!! The lack of consideration from many members for proper use of a public facility these days is causing frustration for me and my family. What's interesting is that the parking capacity, which is often full, serves as evidence for this claim. I have decided to avoid renewing my membership. Perhaps if there is a better branch available in another neighborhood, I may consider rejoining this club.

The hours are still reduced, presumably because of covid. Closing at 10pm is very early. What makes it even worse is they shut down the sauna, steam room, hot tub and pool at 9:30. If I don’t make it to the gym by 8:00 pm I don’t have enough time for a full workout and a sauna+shower. All facilities should remain open until closing time. If I’m paying nearly $80 a month for a membership I expect to be able to have full access to the club during operating hours. I reached out to the gym via email, I received an auto reply that someone would be in touch but there was never any follow up.

I’ve been a member at this gym for over two years. I had personal training for over one year. Now I have an elbow injury and I brought a note from my doctor with the Physio treatment, and the doctors signature is right on the Physio referral. I asked to put my membership on hold for medical reasons until I did my Physio. I was told this is not acceptable And I need to go back to my doctor wait to see him again get a doctors note and bring that back. I told him I am a busy lawyer, I do not have time for that and they should be accepting the Physio Referral with my doctors info and if they don’t believe me they can call my doctor. The guy in the front said wait a minute I’ll go talk to my manager. He came back and said sorry my manager said that’s not acceptable. I said I’m going to cancel my membership if you don’t put my membership on hold. He said let me go back and talk to my manager. He came back and said here is the Form for cancelling your membership. I want to tell you to think very hard before signing up for this gym. Customer service is absolutely horrible if this is how you’re going to be treating your client after all of this business I’ve given you. Too bad that you’re going to be losing my business And I will be sure to share my negative experience widely with my community. Your managers should also have some real training if they’re going to be turning away clients like this!

Movati is a dishonest business and their sales staff lie to you when you sign up. When I signed up, I was told by the salesperson that I could get one week free membership for any friend whose name and number I included in my profile. I was assured that under no circumstances would movati contact any of those people, and that their information was purely to sign in if they chose to come along. I went as far as giving the name and phone number of a few friends with one digit changed. They have since contacted every person whose information I gave (changing one digit doesn't seem to be enough to stop them). Never join this gym. A dishonest business is not worth supporting, when there are tons of better gyms in the city. Update to my earlier review. One of the contacts was called once again today, and the cleanliness of the gym has gone downhill. Lockers are damaged and filthy, the area between the showers and the pool smell of sewer. Aside from a handful of excellent staff that are nothing but friendly, this gym is not worth the money.

****PLEASE READ*** Extremely disappointed with Movati's hours of operation. A Bank even has better hours than you guys! The capacity limits have been lifted, masks have been dropped and QR codes are no longer required. What is the excuse now for not putting the hours back to midnight? $15 minimum wage you don't want to pay employees to work those 2 extra hours? When The Athletic Club (Movati) first opened in Ottawa they were 24 hrs and stated because they wanted to "go green" and save the environment they went to midnight. Now open only till 10pm? Not all of us work government jobs 9-5pm, a lot of members work shift. The majority of gyms in the city are 24hrs. Plus you have Movati giving out 100s of memberships recently so you have a Royal Rumble upstairs for equipment. It's not 2003 anymore, the year is 2022....with social media, Instagram, fitness and working out has become a lot more popular, everyone and their grandma is working out now. With all these new members you need to extend the hours back how they were pre-pandemic! We need a few LA fitness locations to open up in Ottawa, maybe then you guys with smarten up

The hours of operation are ridiculous. They close at 7pm on weekends, 10pm on weekdays, and 5pm on holiday/long weekends. Ive also been asked to stop and leave the gym 5-10mins before closing on numerous occasions. Paying $75-100+ or paying $35 for a day pass is pretty ridiculous for a gym where you constantly feel rushed to leave. Yes, there’s a swimming pool and lots of equipment but overall it feels more like money grabbing than good service. I used to love this gym but overtime prices have gone up and service/hours have been reduced.

It’s actually a bit disheartening reading all of the negative reviews because I love this place so much! I always feel amazing walking in and leave feeling better than when I arrived. I mostly go for the classes, pool and sauna - but do sometimes use the equipment. I don’t find it expensive at all for all of the amenities and options at your disposal. The issues that I’ve encountered (I.e. sauna not operating, heat not working in the hot yoga studio, rowing machine not working) have been quickly dealt with and are not something common I encounter. I’ve never found it unclean and often see staff constantly cleaning. I wish I had even more time to spend here, because you could easily spend 4+ hours here and it’s like a mini spa escape. I don’t have much experience with staff other than instructors but the ones I have encountered have been great. The parking lot does often overflow but there is lots of excess parking around and walking across the parking lot isn’t an issue. I will keep attending and recommending this place to others if things keep going as they are. As someone who would never otherwise consider joining a regular gym, I SO appreciate what this place does for my well being.

I recently received a promotion from Movati - $0 enrollment fee until Feb 23, 2022. I was excited to join them again given their amazing amenities. Spoke with Delilah and at first, she seemed great. She explained that I would receive $99 off the enrollment fee and would simply pay $29.95 (one time) for a "facility fee" + the bi-weekly cost of the gym membership. So far, so good. Due to my schedule, I wasn't able to visit the facility and she suggested I go online to redeem my offer. I clicked the link from my email; however, to my surprise the website has a promo at 50% off the enrollment fee. I went on to see if I could get my offer but the enrollment fee is listed at $24.95 After the discount -meaning the REAL enrollment fee is $49.90 NOT $99. I sent her an email asking for a promo code and if they would be willing to honor the $99 discount she said I would get. Of course she asked me to call her -she wouldn't want any "paper trail". When we got on the phone she denied telling me the enrollment fee was $99 just to fumble on her words and restate the enrollment fee is $99 lol. When I asked for a promo code that would honor the $99 saving she claimed I would receive, she declined. In reality, I was just saving less than $50 to sign up and NOT $99. I immediately lost trust in her word-play and scamming ways. I'm completely disappointed. I cannot do business with a company who can't honor their words and are trying to con me into a 12 month contract just to save $50! Make sure you read the small print with these people. They like to say one thing but their contract states something else.

My experience was severely downgraded thanks to a particularly greedy sales rep, Valerie. Not only did she inappropriately push me to sign up, but she was blatantly tactless with the guest I brought as well. She asked to view my guest’s personal banking app and then when they refused, she became rude and suggested that they call a family member right then to use their bank account. I felt embarrassed for bringing my guest. They don’t accept credit cards, citing that their expiry dates makes it inconvenient for Movati. Sauna has exposed screws that brand you when you accidentally lean back. It smells old and unclean. Shower area smells like raw sewage. After numerous complaints, nothing has been resolved. Movati only cares about setting up automatic withdrawals from your bank account and locking you into a one year contract.

We just joined Movati for our New Year’s resolution, like many other new members! Our experience has been very positive so far. I believe it is the busiest time of the year, so it can get pretty busy, but except for the peak hours (5-7p), I don’t find it crowded at all. At least in Women’s. The facilities are clean. Lots of space, and options for different workouts. The place is big, so I think it takes a bit of time to get used to, but It’s really worth every penny. We’re enjoying a variety of group classes - awesome instructors and easy booking on the app. Also had my machine orientation and GPS with Michael S. today, and he was very attentive, professional, and knowledgeable. I’m glad I found this place after struggling to do workouts alone. It is motivating to be around people who share goals. Hopefully we can keep it up and achieve our goals in 2024 :)

Kirsten J - instructor of anti gravity fitness should be fired from her job. She is not meant to be in the fitness industry. I go to the gym to relieve stress and feel good about my health. She wouldn’t start the class until I moved to the front even though I told her I was comfortable where I was as I’m claustrophobic and choose the spots that are empty. Also, I know my own strength and I can still clearly see her so there shouldn’t have been an issue. Not to mention she degraded me in the microphone in a full class. I’m disgusted as this behaviour and I hope no one ever has to experience what I went through.

I went in to cancel my membership because I didn’t feel safe working out with people who spit in the showers and change rooms. Movati insisted that they HAD to charge me for another month even though I haven’t used used the gym for the past several weeks and wasn’t planning to use the facility any longer. I didn’t feel safe working out there, and shouldn’t be forced to pay for something that I won’t be using. Putting your long time members in this type of situation is just unethical. Anyways, you can keep my 80$. I won’t be returning to this poorly managed gym when the pandemic is over. And the only way to cancel your membership is to visit the gym? Sounds like another money grab to me.

After coming here for ~4 years I’ve got to say this place has gotten the worst management ever now. If their goal is to scam people, have double-faced customer service, and honestly losing members left and right, they’re doing great. Understandably, the employees are scared, they now need to double check everything with the manager, and you can just tell they’ve given their power away. The employees are fine, they’re doing what they are told. The manager Daniel unfortunately seems to abuse of his power, always refers to the policy, and has no empathy. In short, what they’re doing is gaining $20 to lose a member who would’ve come back and paid for another year had many situations not gone so sour. It took us 40 minutes to cancel our membership in person, and that was really the last straw that broke the camel’s back. A few bad experiences we’ve had additionally: - the person who referred me never got their referral bonus, - I also never got my referral bonus from referring a friend, - A personal trainer that I was genuinely interested in working with treated a free assessment with little to no importance to them, - I had a day pass for a friend who wanted to try out gyms as they recently moved here, turns out you can’t use them anymore and now they charge $26 for a day pass... So really they lost out on someone paying a year of membership for the sake of gaining $26 (see a reoccurring theme here?) Anyways, be warned, this gym is not what it used to be. Most of the staff is super nice, but you can tell they’re not their true self anymore due to the manager. I’ve attached my previous review to this one, just so you can see what a contrast a single management team member can do. He’s really ruined our experience (mine and many friends who attended the club who have since cancelled their membership as well) Farewell Movati, you’ve got a hefty amount of competition. ✌🏼

Honestly never had a problem with the members or staff of this gym (Movati) compared to others. Don't believe the bad reviews. I believe a lot of bad reviews are either complaining about COVID restrictions, or the cost which is inevitable for a gym that has water fountains, a pool, hot yoga, a sauna, unlimited classes for members, two floors of equipment, and equipment you wouldn't find at other gyms. Best of luck

This facility is awesome! I switched over from Planet Fitness and couldn't be happier. I've been training with Ellen, one of their Performance Coaches, since December, and I can't sing her praises enough! When I first started, I couldn't even do a proper squat. Fast forward to now, and I'm rocking all the basic movements and actually building some muscle. Ellen's knack for tailoring programs to fit my physical needs and personal preferences is seriously impressive. She makes working out feel less like a chore and more like a customized, enjoyable experience. Plus, her positive vibes are infectious—always leaving the gym with a smile. If you're looking for a personal trainer who knows their stuff, keeps it fun, and genuinely cares about your progress, I highly recommend Ellen!

I was dedicated to a smaller more private gym for three years but I decided to give Movati a try primarily because of the playroom and class schedules. BIGGEST SCAM!! First my husband signed up and then I did. Subsequently, we recommended four other people. Between my husband and I, we received $150.00 through referrals. But one day when I tried to use my gift card for the playroom, I was told that they expire after 3 months, which no one told us. I spoke to a manager who was not willing to help at all. I have met 4 other people who have had the same issue and management gives the lamest excuses claiming we were all told about this stipulation (which is a lie) and its apparently written in microscopic writing on the back. Seems like once they have you on a contract and your money, they could care less about their clients. Customer service definitely lacking! I will not be referring any one else to this gym again and probably will go back to my old gym where you’re not just another number !

It’s a nice gym, I’m give it that much. I was impressed when I first joined; But lately I’ve been disappointed and frustrated. The equipment is always broken and the selection of cable attachments and kettle bells seem to be dwindling away and not being replaced yet the membership fees continue to rise. For almost $800/year, I expect much more. Update - they are often late in opening the gym in the mornings, and people are left outside waiting for a long time. Very unprofessional.

I'm sorry but quite frankly this place is a joke. signed up and had them rob me blind for a whole year they charge almost $100 a month but they don't say it like that they say about $40 biweekly with tax that gets up to be about almost $100 a month which is a lot but you'd assume with prices like that that you'd get pretty much unrestricted access to the gym but you'd be wrong because they periodically shut down parts of the gym and turn them into class only areas so if you were previously using equipment that is found in those areas you're out of luck because now the only way you can use the equipment you were previously using at the gym which already charges an exorbitant amount is by signing up for a class and probably paying more. But youd think that they'd at least be clean and well-maintained I mean with the amount of money they charge they could easily pay someone to clean the place right wrong if you go to any of the cardio equipments chances are you'll find chewed gum in the cup holders (3 had gum for the hole year I was there) go to any of the weight lifting equipment you'll find tared cushion and often enough snapped cable which seems to stay that way for up to a week. Just go to planet fitness its better 15$ a month open 24/7 and the equipment is well maintained and clean + they have more equipment and they dont randomly make you pay extra to use the equipment you already paid for

The club is taking away its best feature: the multipurpose room, with no indication that it will be replaced with a suitable safe space for dancing and yoga. I have asked the manager to contact me about this but no one has so far. A little corner of a gymnasium with no mirror, inappropriate flooring and dominated by body builders is not an acceptable replacement. By taking away the multipurpose room, Movati has also dismantled a nice community of members who met and encouraged each other there. I miss that a lot. The room was taken away with no warning notice to members, so we didn't have a chance to exchange contact. I agree with the previous commenter that opeining up unused studios would be an easy solution, making everybody happy. That, or removing a machine or two upstairs that are occupying space in front of mirrors at the very least. For the moment, the value of my membership has greatly diminished. EDIT: 8 months later, still no replacement for the multipurpose room from Movati.

They do NOT listen to complaints or recommendations! The music in the women change room is so depressing to listen to after a stimulating workout and definitely not conducive to a gym!! Has not always been this way but for past 6 months has gone from bad to worse. And to make matters worse it does not apply to the men's change room - they get to have a more upbeat playlist!!! AT LEAST PLAY SOME CHRISTMAS MUSIC !!!!!!

The gym space itself is fantastic, its clean, the machine uptime is great and the general experience is good. What holds this space back from being great as a whole is the attitude of the space- its advertised as a fitness club, not just a gym but a little while after it opened, the management seemed to stop caring about anyone not paying for personal training. Personal trainers dominate the space in the most inconvenient ways possible (yes i'm looking at you personal trainers super setting across three pieces of equipment at 5:30pm peak hours) and expect you to accommodate. The moderation of their rules is completely nonexistent (there are constantly people filming in their space, sometimes with full camera gear and the staff do nothing.) Peak hours are a mess of people who don't put their weights away and in general have horrible manners. It should not be the job of the members paying upwards of 70 dollars per month to moderate the space. Staff needs to be out on the floor in a more consistent manner enforcing the rules and paying attention. The above issues really hold the gym back from being a truly great fitness club.

Gym has a really nice atmosphere to it! Enjoyed every minute of having a membership for 2 weeks. Kind of a weird time to join the gym, but it was a good choice. I had to cancel my membership over transphobic behaviour from guests over an incident happening yesterday. Meaning, I couldn’t fully use the gym. It’s a good place to work, if your really wanna hide who you are. Unfortunately management couldn’t do much to help me out.

They should have named this place Moneris Payment Club. The managers do not care about your health and safety and really only care about if your payment is going to go through. If you were to tell movati that you lost your job, they would recommend that you go and pan handle so that you don’t miss your next payment. If you have a broken leg and cannot work out, they don’t care either. Instead of saying get better soon, they will say “get our payment soon”. It’s ridiculous that the people who are in charge are so penny wise and dollar foolish. If they weren’t so cheap towards their members, they would do much better.and wouldn’t have so many cancellations. They’ve even trained their staff to tell members that they will pay for the towel for you out of their own pocket if you ask to use one if you’ve forgot yours. Like what the?

Not a bad gym, but for the price very badly maintained , lots of equipment with neglect and rust, most cable machines or hooked workout bars/etc have rust all located around bolts built up into a powder from friction inside the bolts causing rust dust to stain clothing as well as get in eyes. It’s a gym after all so not the end of the world but just kind of a bummer sometimes , as well as not enough benches or equipment at the meadowlands one to support the gym rush ,

Friendliness and Cleanliness are really noted at this location. Compared to their facilities in the east end, this location has a separate spot for yogis, which allows them to enjoy their workout without any other noises from the gym. Like all their other, you have high-quality equipment and feels like a club.

I am writing this review to express my frustration and disappointment with the service provided by Movati Athletic in Ottawa, specifically General Manager Samantha and Andrew front desk representative. My experience with this club has been extremely unsatisfactory, and I would not recommend it to anyone. My membership was unexpectedly terminated without my knowledge last year in London when all the gyms unexpectedly shut down, and I have been trying to resolve this issue for almost a year. Despite my numerous attempts to contact the club, I have received no response. Andrew, the front desk person, claims to have spoken to the manager on my behalf today but I have not been given the opportunity to explain my side of the story. Furthermore, during our meeting a few weeks ago, a General Manager promised to respond to my issues but failed to do so, leaving me feeling frustrated and ignored. This lack of communication and customer service is unacceptable, and I hope that this review will prompt Movati Athletic to take action and improve their services. In summary, I would not recommend Movati Athletic in Ottawa to anyone based on my experience with their poor customer service and lack of response to my complaints. I’ll be sticking with GoodLife Fitness from now on movati athletic staff members can careless about there members.

I have been a longstanding member of Movati Athletic and the Merivale location staff as a whole are great to deal with. Friendly courteous and helpful. I had an issue that stemmed from a simple oversight at another location, but Joe went above and beyond to resolve the issue. His gesture was greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work everyone!

Love this gym! I feel like I’m walking into a comfortable welcoming community! The staff is always friendly and welcoming! It is sooooo clean!!! Workers are constantly cleaning the change rooms! The classes are all super high quality with fabulous energetic motivating instructors! Busy before work and after work but quiet during the day! Not a problem trying to find an open machine or parking spot! Love this place! 💕👌🏻

MOVATI has excellent group class instructors. Celina has helped me incorporate Range of Motion (ROM) into my fitness routine to work on my frozen shoulder. I’m thrilled to say that my shoulder is beginning to thaw… Yeay 🤩

Big, beautiful, modern, and clean. Friendly staff. New equipment. A fairly new company only established in 1997. Comparable to LA Fitness but more expensive. More locations to come.

Been a member for 2 years now, and my friend wanted to come with me for a workout to see the club and potential get a membership but they did not let him in. The only way they would let him in is by paying $30 for one day pass. Complete disaster do not value their clients. Just too ignorant. Absolutely dissapointed.

Clean facility upstairs. Cannot speak to the classes or pool areas. Good luck getting internet with their Wi-Fi. It's an ongoing issue. And when you let them know each time they reply 'We're aware with internet issues and we're trying to get it addressed." How long does it take? None of the other Movati's in Ottawa have that issue. Not a deal breaker but just be aware if you're trying to get connect. Overall, a good gym has its relatively new so the weights and equipment are still in good condition.

2 stars only because they opened. The timings are a piece of joke only open until 930 pm when other gyms in gatineau are open 24/7.. saunas and steam rooms are closed !! Thats the only reason why me and thousands of others joined this gym. My request is to the cheif to open all steam rooms and saunas ASAP and go back to regular hours.

Since this covid stage was brought back in effect, they are deliberately trying to get people to not go. The reservation system is booked up constantly. It was even booked to capacity at 5:30 in the morning. There is absolutely no reason for them to be saying only fifty in the entire facility when they can easily fit fifty in their workout areas alone. They also pick and choose who to allow in, if you dont have a reservation at the exact time and they don't like you, they won't let you in. I've counted the vehicles in the lot before when they said they were at capacity and forced me to wait 30 minutes, there were 27 cars. Its all nonsense. Prolly canceling my membership soon.

Charged me months after I stopped going they say they sent a renew email in February never got one. also due to covid they have been closed. They charged me 2 1/2months Later for 2 months 50 by weekly I didn't notice right away. I asked for it back bc I never got a renewal email. They literally said no thats you fault. For not canceling but they not open should they be charging when they're closed?

I seem to be unusually fussy about having nice change rooms - Movati provides this. They also have a specific exercise machine I want to use that I cannot find elsewhere - recumbent elliptical. Unfortunately they have only two, and one of them has been broken for the past week. The only progress at the end of one week is that it now bears an Out-Of-Order sign. Disappointing since I go with a friend and we both use the two machines together, at the same time.

The bald guy in the front always giving me a hard time asking me 21 questions . Also the only reason why I signed up is because of the spa WHICH HAS BEEN CLOSED FOR THE PAST YEAR! And why are the timings 9:30 pm ! Why do we have to pay the same amount with less to offer ! ?

I am highly impressed by the individuals I train with; however, I am compelled to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the customer service at Movati. The reception staff's behavior is consistently impolite, often engaged in gossiping rather than fulfilling their duties. Furthermore, I have experienced the unfortunate occurrence of my water bottles being forgotten overnight on two occasions, only to have them disappear within a mere 24-hour span. Given the substantial monthly fee I pay, one would expect the safekeeping of forgotten items or, at the very least, respectful treatment towards customers. Regrettably, when I sought assistance regarding a class cancellation, I encountered a staff member who displayed a discourteous demeanor, speaking down to me with a rude tone. I must remind them that their employment is sustained through our financial contributions, and as such, it is unacceptable to communicate with customers in such a manner. I am left perplexed by the state of interpersonal interactions these days. My disappointment is profound. While I acknowledge the presence of commendable individuals at Movati, it is imperative that the organization address the issue of haphazard front-line hiring practices. Prioritizing proper treatment of clients is paramount. Moreover, it is imperative for Movati to investigate the recurring incidents of lost forgotten items, as it appears to be a pervasive problem affecting numerous individuals. Such occurrences are far from ordinary and demand immediate attention.

This a beautiful and clean gym. They even have child care and 2 pools. The change rooms have saunas and steam rooms. Even the women’s section is well equipped (which is not the experience I’ve had in many other gyms) with squat racks and weights. The spin classes are so much fun and you can follow your progress on a giant screen or race with other class mates. Enjoy yoga? Try aerial, hot, yin, power…. So many options.

Tried to rejoin a year ago at my old rate, employee was very rude about it and basically told me to go somewhere else. I was a member for 4 years and referred at least 5 people, extremely disappointed in this gym.

I just spoke with the Chief of Operations who explained the reasons why they reduced the hours, pre-pandemic and I have to admit that I agree with them. I also appreciate the strong stance they have on why a women’s only area is necessary. My take-away from my conversation is that this is a company that both respects their members and their employees. As far as I can tell this is also a Canadian company and one that, on principle, I’d like to see come through this pandemic.

I regularly go to the Trainyards Movati location, but decided to check out a class at this location the other day. It’s a step up from Trainyards in terms of esthetics- everything is so much newer! Although it’s further away for me, I’ll definitely return.

While ensuring the gym is running smoothly for early risers, they are a true asset for a smooth operation.

The facility itself is beautiful. But there is no one upstairs enforcing any rules at all. It's very disappointing because at one time it was the absolute best facility in the city in my opinion (compared to the other Movatis that is). But for the price I would expect the staff to be on top of things.

I cancelled my account with Movati in April 2019. I had no payments come out of my account from April 2019 onward, naturally because I cancelled my account. Makes sense right? Then in October of 2020, Movati began taking inconsistent payments from my chequings account. This is not an authorized payment. When I called they tried to tell me it was because I hadn't cancelled my account. If I hadn't cancelled my membership as Movati is claiming, there would have been payments taken out of my chequings account on a bi-weekly basis between April 2019 and today. But there weren't. There were no payments taken out of my accounts since April 2019, until they began fraudulently charging my chequings account in October 2020. When they began taking payments out of my account they didn't even follow their biweekly membership payment cycle, the payments withdrawn were sporadic: once in October, twice in November and then twice again in December. The representative who I spoke to tried to say it was because the gym was closed due to COVID. But I did not have a membership since April 2019 nor any payments taken out of my account at any point between April 2019, into 2020. This is criminal behaviour from a corporation, trying to sneak money out of non-members account because they are hurting as a business due to COVID... I had to call my bank and report Movati - a reputable corporation to begin the process of getting my money refunded. While also having to push forward a stop-payments form which doesn't even make sense because the payment in the first place (form October 2020) were not authorized. This behaviour from Movati is ludicrous, unacceptable and absolutely despicable.

The staff here are so professional, caring, proactive and patient! I had some questions about the app and logging into my Movati account and Shanna was so helpful and took the time to walk me through everything on a busy night. I have never had any issues with using their facilities, the area is always well kept, tidy and very clean!

I really appreciate Movati. The place is cleaned constantly. Bright and spacious Very conducive to workout or take a class . I also enjoy the lovely music in the change Rooms and pool. Blast your ear buds if you want to rock out but the rest of us like the calmness and relaxed feeling it brings. It is well designed and a pleasure to go to .

The DIRTIEST Movati ever!!!!!!!!! I am repulsed every time I enter the women's change room at this gym. I pay a substantial amount to have a dirty floor full of garbage, puddles, etc. It's absolutely repulsive. Along with the dirty change rooms, the machines are ALWAYS dirty, whether its dust/dirt or simply garabage left behind. I attend the gym almost everyday and for 4 days straight, a piece of gum was in the cup holder of a treadmill. IT WAS THERE FOR 4 DAYS!!! On top of that, the blonde cleaning lady in the women's section is rude. She was cleaning the carpet in the women's section and I said to her "oh sorry I feel bad walking on the carpet you just cleaned" and she replied with "well yeah, you should". I had no choice but to walk where she had cleaned and she was extremely rude. At least I had the decency to apologize for stepping on the floor.

I LOVE this place!! The staff are professional and super friendly, the facility is spotless and spacious and my toddler loves the daycare. I get a sense that they genuinely care for him. The negatives are that the steam room smells funny, there aren’t enough classes offered in the early afternoon, a time when a lot of parents are free, and I HATE having to bring my own lock. Having your membership card double as a lock was one of the leading reasons why I joined this gym in the first place. Punishing everyone because some members couldn’t remember their combo is silly. The less you have to bring with you to the gym and carry around the better. But here is a positive little story.. Not too long ago I started to feel lightheaded in physique class. (I was still nursing, did not eat enough that day, and the instructor Kristine Norris is a power house :) Anyway, I left class a few minutes before it ended and found a seat on the bench outside and closed my eyes. Right away, an employee saw me and immediately came over. She asked if I was okay and though I didn’t recognize my symptoms she told me that I needed to eat something. She gave me a choice of an apple or banana, brought me fruit juice and a power bar. She sat with me until my blood sugar was restored (despite me telling her that she could go). I asked her how she knew something was wrong with me and she said that they are trained to recognize health hazard signs. The manager even called me the next day to check on me. In my experience, the membership is worth every penny. If they were to increase afternoon group classes, get to the bottom of the steam room smell and bring back card locks, they’d get 5 stars from me.

Wow! Soo happy with my time here, amazing gym. The bench presses with the self lift off was so cool. Squat racks were tidy and high quality. Plenty of spaces for deadlifts. Had every machine under the sun.The only thing i could say is the nurling on the barbells are getting smooth so they are tough to grip but other than that best gym I've ever signed up at.

Can people please stop spraying stuff in the steam rooms. There is a sign consisting of steam room rules posted right beside the room, one of them being you are not allowed to use any sprays. I believe it damages the steam output and it leaves an annoying smell. Other than that the gym is clean for how many people use it and employees work hard to resolve any problems.

  • 4/5 Jacqueline D. 4 years ago on Google
Clean, lots of space, lots of equipment and equipment duplication. Access to some uncommon equipment for stretching. Nice to have regular gym space, a large separate space for cardio, as well as an area for powerlifting and more dynamic conditioning. Some cons for me are that the Fuel area isn't large enough (for my liking). I love tire flipping and sled work so for me the Fuel area really could never be large enough!! Would love if this whole area could be expanded as there really isn't anywhere else to perform conditioning work. Only other con, and what's keeping me from joining, is distance from my work and home but a great facility overall.

I've been a member since this location opened. Cleanliness, excellent amenities (steam room is my favourite), lots of yoga classes......all good things. But the best part is my trainer, I've been with him for over two years now and he's top notch. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Yes, it's more expensive than other gyms but cleaner, brighter and more spacious than most.

It's the best gym in town. Unfortunately, they don't operate as same as Goodlife 24/7 plus they close at 8 on weekends

  • 4/5 Jeff B. 4 years ago on Google
Great gym, facility and amenities are top tier. If they could adjust the pricing slightly lower due to competitive pricing of local gyms that would earn the final star. But I guess you do get what you pay for in a sense. A big drawback is wanting to go to the gym on the weekends during night hours. 8pm seems too early to close, especially on a saturday.

It's a very nice gym but it's getting way too busy now. Always a wait for things and now I can't even find a parking spot. Far from the enjoyable luxury this used to be. Staff is OK but don't really do anything other than say hello, machines are broken for far too long, I know parts take time to come in but man it's ridiculous. GET MORE THAN 3 BENCHES JEEZ

  • 4/5 Michael M. 11 months ago on Google
It's expensive, but is it worth it?Its clean, spacious but has a few design flaws. The entrance to the pool is useless, multiple times I have sat there for 5min+ buzzing. Where I have to go out in my swim suite to the lobby and ask them to open the door. The people at the front get real busy at times, I get that but this has happened more than five times in 2 months. It needs to change! Equipment is is quickly repaired from all the minor times I've seen them breakdown. Sauna and steam room, after a work out, feels like a mini spa after a workout.

Horrible gym. I’m currently a student and I joined the gym and was told I could cancel at any time without any consequences. I tried to cancel my membership today and they told me I could not and I had to give 1 month notice. Now I’m stuck paying for a membership for an extra month. I called and spoke to a supervisor and he told me he couldn’t do anything about it. Go with any other gym that allows you to cancel at any point.
