I don’t venture often to a PetSmart store because of my location but when I need something specific I can always find it there. They have everything you need for your furry family member or slithery or wet one as well 😂. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. 👍😎

I had to sign in under my husbands account since I’ve already left a previous review for this location years ago. (Proud Nana) We’ve found a true artist in Leah in the salon! She’s always so happy to see my Bob and he loves seeing her. She’s patient and meticulous in her art and it shows. My fella was in 3 days ago and still looks like he just left! This is the store that I usually shop, but unfortunately for the past few weeks I was told that a specific cat food was coming in soon. After my fourth trip in a month still no food. I found a very helpful woman Jen, who took the time to check the system and found that they are no longer receiving it. I asked Jen if she could please call the other Pet smart on Merivale road to see if they have the food. She did and I was so appreciative of her service and to be able to purchase my babies their food at another store. Thank you so much Jen, for your time, great service and excellent customer care. I am so grateful.

I love bringing my cat Lexi here to be groomed. She is loved on and cared for as if it were their own pet. The atmosphere is welcoming and Kristen my groomer is fantastic. She is knowledgeable and Patient and always happy to answer any questions or concerns I may have had. I strongly recommend bringing your pet here for thier grooming needs. If you’re looking for a cat groomer, I highly recommend stopping at this PetSmart. I’ve been looking for a cat groomer for months, but many other PetSmarts did not have one and other places put me on the waitlist. After calling this location, I was given an appointment right away which surprised me completely. I thought I would have to wait weeks for a spot, but the kind groomer scheduled me right away and worked with my schedule. I live all the way in Orleans in the east side, but it was worth the long trip. I think the groomers name was Julie, she handled the whole process very well and took great care of my kitten. She was very kind and understanding and we were more than happy with her service. She handled everything very well. This is for sure going to be our regular grooming stop.

Usually the staff is fantastic but yesterday I was dealing with a new employee who was very misinformed about the tank size requirements for fish. Said I could only put 3 neon tetras in a 30 gal tank, because the label says they need 10 gals she thought that meant each. Very frustrating and she would not listen to reason.

This PetSmart is amazing! It has pretty much everything your pet could be asking for. It's really clean too! They have a variety of animals and cater to a variety of animals. The staff is friendly as well as extremely knowledgeable. If you are looking for something for a pet or looking for a pet come here they'll look after you!

Kudos to the cashier who suggested to me that I could use my points to purchase one of these super cute stuffies and donate to kids on the cancer ward at CHEO at Christmas. Wow. A great idea always needs a promoter. Without her, I would have not noticed the displays explaining what I could do, and I would not have made that donation. You are a rock star! ⭐️

Overall the associates are amazing! However, there's one dog trainer who is the worst. I went there for puppy training classes for my now 13 week puppy. He seems nice when you first meet him, but then true colours start to show. First of all, he's racist. He started talking about "my culture" based on the colour of my skin and not knowing what it actually is. He then continued to talk casually about how the traits that come with "my culture" prohibit me from following through with the training. Based on observations and personal experience, he criticizes and nit picks all mistakes instead of correcting them politely or explaining them beforehand. There's been many times where there's uncomfortable tension in the group because he's singling out an individual for their mistakes. There's a thousand dog trainers out there, don't pick Paul E as yours.

The trainer Paul, was not a good trainer, and my dog did not learn anything from him. I used Youtube and was much better, and the service was not professional. Paul made my dog miss her graduation class because he decided to change the date and forgot to contact me! He just gave me her certificate and told me she is good and she does not need an exam! Even throughout the class, when he was talking, his speech was not clear and kept forgetting what was coming next. The class was supposed to be 6 weeks, and we "finished" in 10 weeks as he kept cancelling and postponing the classes. VERY disappointed with the training and service we received

We were looking for wet food of a very specific type that wouldn't contain chicken, rice, lentils, or lamb, this because as you might have guessed it, my furry boy, Arlo suffers of allergies, but he's a very happy boy. Anyhow, the good people of PetSmart, went out of their way to help us find precisely what we were looking for and then some, the very nice lady read label after label until we found the precise ingredients and moisture contents and on top of that we profited from a promotion that was set to start next day, so, most definitely we'll be coming back to this PetSmart and their wonderful personnel. BTW, our boy, being an older puppy, is very picky about his food, and loved the brand that was chosen for him. Kudos and thanks a lot!

One of the better pet smarts in the Ottawa area. Lots of toy choices and great selection for different food and litter brands. They also have a lot of cute cat trees. I only give 4 stars as they still sell many unsafe pet products. And the staff are not well educated on pet care for rodents, so make sure to do your own research, don't ask for their advice. I asked for hamster food and was given a bag of treats.

Very kind and knowledgeable staff, however the product I was looking for has been recalled I found it on the shelf with no price and was surprised to find out it was no longer possible to buy that product due to health risks. I am glad they did not allow me to buy the potentially dangerous product.

One of your workers was too busy giving their rehearsed lectures on fish and lost the fish I was buying. The fish literally disappeared after she pulled out and chucked the tank ornaments aside. We spent 15 minutes searching for it. We believe he slipped behind the tank and died. What great service.

Great big box pet store with easy navigation through the well marked aisles. Friendly and informative staff as well especially John. He helped me find and recommend exactly what I was looking for. I will be back again when I need more food for my moms pup.

Ro and Paul are excellent dog trainers. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. They know how to make your puppy comfortable. They are very patient. They're amazing at what they do.

Always clean, great sales and prices. Kittens were adorable. Think i passed by there 3 times while in the store. Lol I would have adopted one right then in there if i didn't already have 2 cats and a dog already 😅🤣

Always everything I need. I know there's a massive problem with orders and what comes in (been working at petstores for about 3 years) but there was really nothing today when I went to visit; in the cat section at least. There weren't many healthy options in terms of canned cat food nor many safe and reliable options for cat collars; then again the latter has been pretty consistent in their designs, they've had the same ones for the past 5+ years. So yeah an update on cat collars is very much a necessity

The grooming is mainly the service I use. I find the staff turnover rate is fairly high. It's so nice to have people who recognize my dog and know his personality and quirks. Overall our experiences have been good.

They actually give their animals fresh food and clean habitats, more than most petsmarts do. They also make sure people know the needs and the responsibilities of small and large pets. They carry a lot of higher quality pet foods. My dog loves visiting and always looks for the blue shirts for some attention, the employees are always very kind to me and my dog.

Clean and well stocked. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Definitely shop here again. Great selection of budgies!

Kristen did an amazing job with my Morkie Honey Mel ♥️ Honey was traumatized because she went to the Kanata location where this girl Trinity shaved her unnecessarily and called me within 5 min to get her. Steve the manager took matter in his hands when I called and complained about this ridiculous situation. Let’s just say I wasn’t nice on the phone, to me shaving a puppy on her first visit is completely out of the books on a Vet 101 book! Back to this Merivale location I was super impressed with the professionalism of Kristen and recommend her 💯 Thank you for making this a much much better experience for Honey!🤍🥹

my dog is getting up in age and has developed some allergies to regular food. I asked the cashier about something more belly friendly and she suggested the best option. Made me feel better about what i am feeding him. Last night gave him some kibbles and he literally ran around like a puppy, guess he liked the taste as well. Happy that she knew what products are best for him.

I did a full grooming with cut, bath and shave, including dog nails. It was a student who did it but they did a wonderful job. Definitely would go back again

Love buying my pet supplies here, wouldn't recommend buying fish, they die pretty fast. Everything else like supplies and treats amazing.. (haven't bought rodents or birds)

We took our dog for bath and brush and they did a very poor job. Our dog’s face wasn’t even cleaned nor touched. When we complained to the bather they said we can buy special wipes to clean his face. Why did we pay for the service then if they ask us to do it ourselves? We requested to talk to a manager and left our number and never got a call back. Horrible service.

Taking Intermediate Obedience class with my pup, and Paul is excellent teacher. Also love the selection of products available.

I found the selections to limited. It has it all but not much of it. Like sweaters or coats for dogs. Plenty of parking, which is nice.

Grooming Salon - When we initially arrived for our first Grooming appointment, we were extremely disappointed. The Groomers were rude and made it known that they were annoyed. We were unsure of returning although decided to give it one more try but this time with a Groomer named Marianne R. We love Marianne R! She has a ton of patience with our Husky and gives great care. We highly Recommend her and have not booked with anyone else since. She is the reason that we keep returning to the Grooming Salon.

When for grooming, and I'm not sure if I should tell everyone's this or keep the secret to myself but Taylor is the best!!! Friendly, professional, caring and all, the overall experience was great for both our Chippie and ourselves!

We took our puppy for puppy training. Instructor was nice gentleman and seemed to know his job. Some of the tips given for training your puppy are good but you have to unlearn everything you do with your puppy and implement his teaching. Only then it would work.

Cute little PetSmart. Well stocked shelves, could have used some front facing though lol. I was in the store for like 20 minutes before someone offered me assistance. Not a good or bad thing but something I noticed.

Great place, the staff at the Merivale road location are awesome, always friendly and always ready to give Apollo a pat on the head and some attention when his butt's wiggling like crazy. Would be a great place to work!

The curbside pickup was painless and the person I spoke to on the phone when we arrived was really kind and helpful when I asked about a coupon I was having trouble applying. She had no problem finding us in their pickup area, and putting the items in our trunk. I will be coming back here for any other pet-related needs during the pandemic. Highly recommend.

It's a PetSmart. It has all the things PetSmart is known for. Slightly odd that Merivale has two of these within a few miles (the one here and the bigger one by Costco), but the Lansdowne one got closed. Selection smaller than bigger shop by Costco but otherwise they are all pretty much clones as far as I can make out. Expensive and with the pandemic very few discounts as they are doing a roaring business...

The fish person scooped a dead fish out of a tank, then used the same unsterilized net to catch another fish for a customer. She then put a fish with fin fungus in a 'hospital tank' while leaving the other fish in the tank for sale to unsuspecting customers. Frightful hygiene.

I have never heard a trainer say, - I hear alot of people calling their dogs name to get their attention, this won't work, a dog will not come to it's name. That was the first read flag. That is literally one of FIRST thing you should be training your puppy . It's a very BASIC piece and a very important piece of their training. Second red flag was when when asked if my 12w old puppy jumps up on people, to which I replied no! Our puppy had never jumped up on anyone at a greeting or out of excitement. The trainer then proceeded to use my dog as an example. The trainer invited her to jump up on him and then show the class what to do to correct their behavior. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! You never teach a dog bad behavior just to correct it. That was red flag number two! Red flag number three, was telling me that the treats I had were two small and did not have a strong enough scent. Let me just say, first I'm not going to feed my puppy a ton of large treats, that would be an unhealthy part of their diet. Second, dogs noses are 40x better then a humans, so if I can smell the treats while holding it in my hand away from my face, the dog can absolutely smell it! I'm not sure if the trainer has issues with smell and couldn't smell the treats properly but the treats were absolutely potent enough. The final straw was when the trainer told those in the class having issues with potty training, that they were using the wrong training pad and they should buy the brand petsmart buys. Not one single tip on how they can get the dog to pee outside(example using a bell). Only to change the training pads they were using. Our family has had number of dogs, all very well trained. This was our first and last try with Petsmart puppy training. I would not reccomend to anyone!!

Generally I have good experiences at PetSmart, especially this location. The only improvement I will suggest is with your curbside pickup system. I called the number displayed in the window and waited close to 10 minutes to get through to someone while having to navigate menus on the phone. I believe this can be streamlined significantly. Other than that, I’m usually happy with my experiences at this store.

They don't have every brand of dog food that I need (Stella & Chewies). I was lucky they had the Royal Canin cat food I wanted; in this case the brand wasn't the problem, it was that the shelves were empty of some sizes of some varieties of that brand. This stuff is very expensive, and I wanted 2 different sizes of 2 different varieties, so I was lucky they had them. So were they; I would have went elsewhere if they didn't. The people are forcibly pleasant.

My dog Lilly went in for nail trimming, ear, & teeth cleaning plus the furminater shampoo and brushing. She came back well groomed and with nice soft fur. I liked the service my dog recieved.
