Selling expiring baby food, when I went to return it they said it was on sale and therefore couldn't exchange or return it. I told them if I knew it was expire I would have not bought it even if it was $2!!! We went there and was able to exchange only one jar instead of two. So basically I wasted $9. Very disappointed why would you sell expiring BABY food, you want to kill babies or what. My baby got very sick after eating this spoiled food. At first I didn't know why but after investigating I have realized that it was was from that brotten baby cerelac. I will not go back there again!!!!!!!!!

Excellent customer service and friendly staff. Fair pricing. It has products from all over Africa. I took notice that there was a huge variety of West African products. There’s lots of free parking space. Definitely a spot you should check out if you’re looking to try something new or if you want a taste of Africa.

I recently purchased the "Magic Bags" through the "Too Good to Go" app. The app itself is designed to reduce food waste by selling slightly expired or soon to be expiring items for a significant reduction. This place offers three such bags (pantry items, assorted beverages, and snacks). I decided to get one of each and oh boy was I dissappointed. On the surface it looks great. I paid $7.99 for each of the three bags, so basically got away with a buggie full of groceries for under $25 bucks. What could be wrong with that? Well keep reading.. The BEVERAGES bag contained: Sports Shake - Strawberry Banana (325ml) x2 - expired 01 April 2022 Sports Shake - Vanilla (325ml) x2 - expired 01 January 2022 Sports Shake - Strawberry (325ml) x2 - expired 01 January 2022 AK-100 - Vanilla Corn Drink (290ml) x2 - expired 28 December 2021 Nestle Milo - original [can] (240ml) x2 - expired 26 December 2021 Nestle Milo - original [bottle] (225ml) x2 - expired 19 August 2021 Vita Malt - classic (330ml) x1 - expired 10 January 2022 Suda - Mixed Fruit (1L) - expired 22 February 2021 Suda - Tropical Fruit (1L) - expired 22 August 2021 The PANTRY ITEMS bag contained: Titus - sardines tin (125g) - still good until 23 December 2026 Mr. Goudas - Jack Mackared tin (425g) - expired 08 April 2022 Maggi - Tamarina (340ml) - expired 12 February 2022 Shan - Tandoori sauce (350g) - still good until 20 September 2022 Shan - Butter chicken sauce (350g) - expired 19 April 2022 Shan - Achar Gosht sauce (350g) - expired 02 January 2022 Heinz - Ketchup (1L) - expired 15 August 2021 Hellman's - Mayonnaise (890ml) - expired 15 May 2021 Dipitt - Habanero Ketchup (310g) - expired 26 February 2022 Kraft - Shake 'n Bake extra crispy (152g) - expired 07 September 2020 Basak - Broccoli cream soup (60g) x2 - still good until February 2023 Basak - Tomato cream soup (50g) - expired May 2021 Newman's Own - Creamy Caesar dressing (350ml) - expired 17 May 2021 Newman's Own - Balsamic Vinaigrette (350ml) - expired 18 August 2021 Matouk's - West Indian Hot Sauce (300ml) - expired 27 November 2021 Fruit of Life - Lemon Seasoning (750) - unknown expiry French's - Classic Yellow Mustard (400ml) - expired 09 January 2022 The SNACKS bag contained: Cadbury - milk chocolate (110g) - expired 08 January 2021 Halk - Fruit Cake (150g) - expired 04 March 2020 Ghirardelli - Milk Chocolate Chips (326g) - expired 30 November 2021 LambertZ - Balena (125g) - expired 30 July 2021 Papudopoulos - Caprice [vanilla] (115g) - expired 11 May 2022 Amira - Smoked Almonds (200g) - expired 30 June 2021 Tempo - Super Mix (40g) - expired 20 May 2022 Ferrero - Duplo Cocos (18.2g) - expired 06 December 2021 EBM Brands - Click (142g) - expired 24 June 2022 The value is sort-of there, but charging anything for products that are well over a year expired should be a crime. Heck, even giving them away I am sure poses some sort of health and safety violation. It clearly seems that this place is trying to get rid of the stock that expired during COVID-19 closures and they are trying to use the app to do so. I won't ever be going there and I will be telling everyone I know not to shop there.

The store has a good variety of African food items, however, this is not all that makes a store worthy of patronage. The lightskinned man at the meat section is very rude and proud. If your ego is too big to sell meat then get out of there and allow people with good customer ethics work there. I also watched him today at the new lady working with him at the meat section. He is always derogatory when communicating with customers. He was also upset that another customer changed her mind abount buying a particular type of meat. SIR, look around you, people have their rights out here, you are not in your village where you're lord over people! Especially WOMEN!!!!!! Also today, the darker cashier lady working at the inner cashier stand with a head cover was also absolutely rude with an attitude. I gave 2 stars based on customer service. I will continue to shop here to give the store owner a chance to train her staff about the power of great customer service. If I see a positive difference before the end of 2023, I will adjust my review. If not, I will stop shopping here and spread the word. This is not the only African store in Ottawa. I will record any ill manners I notice next time.

Great place to get African food. They have pretty much everything, from fufu (cassava leaves) to goat meat and fish boxes. Fresh meat can be expensive compared to local supermarkets, so my family only goes there to buy specific African foods and goat meat.

So I went to the store today to get brown coconut fruits. It was the worst decision I made. They sell each coconut at $2.99 + taxes, and I paid nine. I needed it for a recipe. So as soon as I got home, I started opening them, and all of them were bad! I took the picture of the really bad ones so you can see the extent of it. I'm incredibly shocked that such a big store will sell rotten aliment like that! It is very disappointing!

Great concept of an international market, and has a decent and wide selection. But Beware and Check the dates before purchasing as they sell very expired products. I realised when I got home that All of the items I purchased had been expired between 1 month and up to 18 months. There's a difference in my books between selling items slightly past their best before dates, and products over a year past explicit expiry dates.

An amazing place. All new to me. I was just driving by and noticed the sign. Took the opportunity to explore. It was quite busy. Very friendly staff asked if they could assist me. Wasn't looking for anything, just wanted to know. Will go back and explore again.

It’s a big store. You can find almost all the major African ingredients you need for local food. However the staffs are not so helpful and feels like they’re understaffed. Otherwise it’s my go to place to get drinks from home, indomie, plantain, halal meat, agege bread, cow skin etc. I always meet a lot of fellow Nigerians. It’s organized but some sections are not so neat. Overall great store with great prices

Most of the items don't have price tag, you'll need to get to the cashier in order to find out. This implies that you can not buy based on prices. Oftentimes you find out when you are paying for items that their prices are sky-high. You can get original African items there but the prices too high even for non-organic items.

Fishy Doughnuts Great place. I always buy the food I miss from back home. But…please extend a reminder to Kam Doughnuts to stop using dirty oil, lately I’ve been buying doughnuts that taste of fish and I have to throw them away. They’ve always been delicious when they’re fresh.

Very pleased with my two boxes from too good to go! I'd suggest the beverage one be labeled whether it should be kept cold, as most bottles don't have english😅😅 the snack box was wonderful and im excited to return for more. Thankful your shop is open to provide a taste of parts of the world that may not be safe or easy to travel to💛💚❤

Reasonable selection of products. Clean store Was looking for dry goods. I did find some of the pricing high for meat and imported items from Africa. I will consider it for the future for specialty goods I don't remember many Ethiopian products mostly central African products.

I thoroughly enjoyed the layout, variety and service I got here, not to mention how reasonable priced many things were. I'm a shopper and I'm used to some variety in large African stores - this impressed me with so many products I've never even heard about like fermented sorghum flour, mini garden eggs, frozen greens and a lot more. I'll definitely be back

It's a one-stop store for Afro-Caribbean foods! The only con is the inefficient price tagging. Some items on the shelves lack price tags and this doesn't help your shopping experience. The store owners need to improve on this.

My first visit here. Staff was helpful. They had the stuff I needed. Store is clean and spacious. Was told it is black owned so perfect because I love to support black business!✊🏾 Giving 4 stars instead of 5 because many of the items are not priced/labelled and that makes it difficult to shop.

This store no doubt has a lot of varieties that caters to the African Community in Ottawa. However, the owners of this shop have no problems selling expired goods. I bought a box of frozen chicken drumstick. I had to store it for it to defrost so I'd be able to cook it. Some hours later, I opened the box and discovered the entire content to be rotten. Immediately, I took the box to the store to complain. I demanded that they acknowledge that what they sold to me was rotten and apologize, I never asked for an exchange nor a refund. They refused my demand and told me it wasn't their fault. What impudence. I have read other reviews on google and most complaints comes down to selling expired/rotten goods. Especially, the comment about selling expired baby foods. That is sheer evil. This is contrary to the Consumer Protection Act of Canada. I will formally lay a complaint to Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Health Canada and Consumer Protection Ontario. I will attach pictures I took of the expired products in the store and negative reviews from Google reviews as my proof. Hope the Government helps to protect the consumers from your horrible acts.
