Heartless! I drove from an hour away to come for my appointment even though I didn't have any power after the ice storm. Got there 20 minutes early and the vet wasn't there so I went to pick up some food since I hadn't eaten as I had no electricity and was 15 minutes late coming back after being stuck in line to pay for my food. They cancelled my appointment without considering why I was late! No exception, no understanding. That's disgusting to treat people that way especially since I have never been late for an appointment before!

This review should be very long because of the service that Doctor Sarah Slater gives but I will try and keep it short. Dr Slater has been giving us excellent service for our two dogs for over 3 years now. Her level of service should be the standard for all vets. When a pet is ill you will do anything to make them better. Some vets take advantage of this with unnecessary tests and high charges. Dr Slaters prices are reasonable and she has never done any work that doesn't need to be done. Our dogs will be going to Rideau River Animal Hospital for years to come.

After having poor experience at a previous vet, we decided to switch and best decision we have made. Staff is very friendly, they answer all my questions and give me all the info I request. They do reminder calls and stick to appointment times and sometimes even see patients early! Super impressed! They have been very attentive to all of my needs. Super helpful these past 3 visits with my two cats. I'm glad that they are my vet. 😁

Grateful to have found this team! I was very anxious about our visit because we haven't had the best experience with our dog at the vet, and we were really unsure how she would do alone. She is normally scared, and nippy with the vet, but came out SO HAPPY and tail wagging. They even called her cuddly! Our dog has been battling some allergies for about 2-3 years, and this is the first time we left the vet with a plan of action. The entire team was compassionate, thorough and pleasant! Nothing but good things to say, and highly recommend their services.

the staff was very friendly and nice. they have a very caring approach towards animals. they allowed me to be with my puppy during his shots. also, they gave treats to gain his trust. my puppy was so calm with the staff. even the vet follow up with me to see if my puppy was feeling better. i love this place.

Complete lack of professionalism, sensitivity or courtesy.. I made an appointment to get my dog's vaccinations updated so that he could come to the palliative care hospital for my dying father. My father was a long-standing client and I had taken my dog here previously as well. I detailed the situation and provided my phone number for contact. I travelled with the dog from Nunavut so that he could say goodbye to my father with me as they were quite close. Then Rideau River Animal Hospital cancelled my appointment day of. They called my father's phone to do it. After reiterating the desperation of the situation, they rescheduled for today at 11. It was 8am when I received a second call from Rideau River Animal Hospital (again on my father 's number and not mine) demanding to speak with my father. I told the receptionist I was the one who booked the appointment and she said she has no record of my name and could only discuss the details of the call with my father. Long story short, they cancelled on me again. Long story short, their doctors don't show up, their front of house staff does not document or communicate necessary information amongst themselves, and one receptionist in particular thought it was acceptable to argue with a grieving family. I deeply regret choosing to give this hospital my business.

Our dog has been a patient of Dr. Slater for many years and more recently we have also worked with Dr. Laidlaw during an emergency. Both vets are very knowledgable and excellent at communicating all of your options. They never rush and they take the time to follow up with you. The technicians and assistants are also wonderful and provide lots of support by answering questions, quickly relaying messages, sending test results and even guiding us through how to force our dog take her medications. This is a staff of people who care about animals and their families.

We've been going here for 2.5 years now and have only positive things to say. The staff are kind and very responsive, the care our dog gets is excellent, and we are never upsold or pushed into unnecessary treatments - e.g., for our dog's allergies, the vet laid out the options and was forthright that one of the potential treatments did not have strong evidence behind it.

Highly recommend to bring your furry friend under the care of Dr.Laidlaw. She was wonderful and very compassionate!

This was the only animal hospital that could take us over Christmas. We called multiple vets in our area and they all said no. Our dog had an issue with his eyes but the vet also noticed an issue with his ears that our previous vet told us was normal. After giving him the medicine for his ears and eyes, he was back to normal. Super thankful to the staff here.

Highly recommend Dr. Slater and her team! My dog was diagnosed with diabetes. They have been so kind and helpful with how I can deal with his insulin. Dr. Slater is very knowledgeable and honestly care! Thank you!!

The service here was the worst I have experienced with any vet facility ever. The communication was terrible. The staff was rude on the phone and gave mis matched information. I felt like I was dealing with a pre teenager in the phone.
