It is one of my favorite places, the courtyard garden in the summer is incredible, it is a child-friendly place. The food, service and ambience were very good, I just found the prices a little high.

What a great place to eat. Even the building is awesome. The Restaurant is located in a very historical building called West Indies House who was responsible for conceptualizing NYC. The company built a Fort in Manhattan and they used alot of inspiration for it from Amsterdam. Anyway the restaurant was a great recommendation from a friend and we literally ate there about 4x when we visited last week. The food was great and the staff even better. I highly recommend to try this out when you find yourself in Amsterdam.

The place had a great ambiance. It was a cold day and this place is really cozy and the decorations was also very comfortable to dine in. We didn't make reservations and was able to get a table for 2 around 8pm. We had duck breast and mussels. Both were good. Didn't try starters and desserts but the menu looked good 👍 Service was also good. Overall nothing to complain. It was a pleasant experience.

The lunch menu is very limited. I ordered the beetroot salad. Its listed under lunch but more like a starter. Very small portion. Not sure if I totally understood the dish and the flavours. Other than sandwiches, there wasn't much on the menu. Could be a Dutch thing.

First stop in Amsterdam. Absolutely will be returning! Top notch quality food. We tried the Mushroom, Mussels, Cod, and Pork Belly. Each flavorful and cooked to perfection. Great value! The bread/butter and fries are also to die for. The staff are wonderfully kind, passionate, and helpful as well. And no reservation? No problem. Bravo!

Cafe Nieuw Amsterdam is one of our favorite restaurants in Amsterdam. The environment of both the inner and outer spaces of the restaurant are exquisite. The dinner menu is limited but exceptional. Lunch menu could be developed except steak tartar which is my favorite course. Besides that, they have a huge cocktail menu that includes new recipes but sometimes it is better to stick with traditional ones. E.g.; dry martini is better when it is served with green olives :) Update: This was our maybe 15th time in Cafe Nieuw Amsterdam. We were there today for dinner and we realized the portions are getting smaller and smaller.. The same dish came in half amount comparing with our previous orders. That is why I am changing my review rate from 5 stars to 3.

Simple but VERY tasty food, loved the atmosphere and decor. HIGHLY recommend for people who appreciate quality food. My favorite was the ravioli.

Despite the decent food the waiters were so unpleasant that they ruined the experience and make you feel not welcome. Not recommended. There are so many much better places in this street.

Excellent restaurant in Amsterdam Centrum. We’re recommended by a friend and it didn’t disappoint. Friendly service and would visit again on our next trip. Definitely recommended.

Newly opened place just 3 months old. Great ambience and a very friendly and attentive staff. The food and drinks were excellent and the price is medium range and affordable. Old style decor like a train station and old lamps with a full fledge bar. Our last main course took 30-40 minutes but they offered free coffee after to make up for the delay.

We chose this restaurant for our ex-pat Thanksgiving dinner as they had whole roasted chicken for two in the menu. It was a wonderful meal, accompanied by good wine. It was windy and rainy outside but warm and comfy inside.

The food is very good. Especially chicken liver pate. It was 10 of 10. The lamb sausage 7 out of 10, because it wasn’t juicy enough. Mussels was 9/10. Very nice sauce and mussels were good too. French fries without score. Just good. Overall atmosphere quite nice. It is very historical place. But inside the garden is quite hot in warm weather because there was no even slightest breeze. About service. One of the beer glasses wasn’t clean enough, maybe not properly cleaned of soap after cleaning. It wasn’t a problem, we cleaned it with a tissue.

Stopped here for a drink. One of the best espresso Martinis I've ever had (it was the bar tenders first time making it, she did a marvelous job!) Gorgeous venue and the perfect place for a drink to watch the world go by!

Great place to eat. Main courses are very good and a good selection of drinks. Service can be quite slow outside, unfortunately.

Really liked this place. Food was good, service excellent and the location superb. It's an old VOC office with a nice walled garden. Little quiet oasis in the touristy hustle and bustle on Haarlemmerdijk.

The chicken free range was undercooked (it is a huge problem serving raw chicken to a toddler). I told and show this to the waitress but she forgot(to be polite)😊 to do something about it. We barely took 3 bites from that Big dissapointing! Avoid this place!

We dined at this adorable restaurant on our lay over back home. We found it on our stroll in the city center and we were quite happy with our choice. The atmosphere takes you back to the Glided age, and the food is exceptionally tasty. We tried to the chicken, the veggie dish, the beef and the duck, and we were all happy with our dishes.

This was a random walk past on a Friday evening. The courtyard looked inviting and we decided to have a drink and perhaps some snacks…. So glad we decided to stay. Started with oysters and they were the best any of us had tasted for a long time. The pate was also delicious. Moved on to the short rib and there are no words to describe the balance of flavors on this plate. Simple to eat but every bite was an explosion of deliciousness. The ravioli was truly a masterpiece.. my silky and perfect. Wines matched well, service was friendly and just the right amount of attention. The only fault (and I use this lightly) would be the courtyard furniture. Not particularly comfortable or all that stable, but this didn’t really distract from a truly wonderful, serendipitous evening. What a find. Well done. Can highly recommend.

Neighborhood bar and restaurant with excellent tasting menus for groups. We enjoyed every course. From steak tartare and burrata to halibut, mushroom risotto, steak, and creme brulee. Each dish was perfectly executed. Decent wine list. Helpful service.

Good seafood and steak located in the center of Amsterdam. Food can be a little bit pricey but the quality holds up!

beautiful cafe, interesting menu, delicious food, but VERY slow service, we waited an hour, fries and sliced Dutch cheeses .... the waiter apologized and promised beer at the expense of the establishment ... but when they brought the bill, the beer was counted and we paid full amount ... unpleasant

We went to Café Nieuw Amsterdam for a friend's lunch. The atmosphere of the building is undeniably impressive. The staff is amiable even though they are all over the place running up and down, while the staff ratio to guests was perfectly fine. Most of us ordered a sandwich with the expectation of receiving a proper sandwich. Unfortunately, the size was relatively small, too small for a lunch dish. It would have been great if the staff had informed us as we would have ordered two each—a missed opportunity to make some profit for the restaurant. The food was delicious and would definitely be a reason to come back if it wasn't for the poor, poor, poor furniture. The furniture was horrific and should not be in any restaurant as it was impossible to sit on it properly. Furthermore, the tables had a bar at the bottom, making it impossible to stretch your legs. No restaurant should have this quality of furniture! The wine we ordered was great, and we would have ordered another bottle, but as mentioned staff was all over the place—another missed opportunity. We'll give it some time before we return in the hope there will be improvements to the furniture and the waiting qualities of the staff even though they were very friendly.

Top experience. Restaurant seems to be relatively newly opened; staff were having a photo session when we visited. Food was great - standard Dutch fare done super well. Fried stuff like bitterballen didn't taste like it was fried in 2 day old oil; it was light and oh so crunchy. Ambiance is also super cute. Lots of (rather attractive) couples on dates when we visited

Great location in an old historical building. Service was really friendly and professional. Overall I would not recommend this place as 1) the food is not great, 2) there are no proper brunch options and 3) it’s full of tourists. Better to go somewhere else in the neighbourhood. It definitely has great potential.

Absolutely delicious food. We went for lunch and had the dry aged rib eye steak - meat cooked to perfection (medium) and sides tasty and fresh. Good salad and good selection of good drinks. Croquettes with shrimp tasty too. Very lovely staff, we will be back for more!

Got the takeaway stampot - unreal! Perfect comfort food. We shared the meatball and steak, both were amazing. The rosemary potato wedges were also excellent. Will definitely be reordering from here.

Really nice setting for drinks but I wished the dinner menu was a bit more inventive for such an upscale looking place.

Very nice atmosphere and decor. Great staff and good food. Vegetarian menu option (ravioli) was a bit disappointing, but the meat was apparently excellent.
