This place holds some of the most important documents of the Brazilian history. It always keeps the bodies of the first men to think about an independent Brasil: there's a small Pantheon inside the museum. It's important to understand that the episode remembered by this museum happened pretty much in line with the US independence and the french revolution and the industrial revolution. Minas Gerais was already economically and politically linked to the world by 1750+. #libertasquæseratamem

Audio guides weren't available, which probably made it a lot less enjoyable. Translations are in Portuguese and English, but the English doesn't provide much context and it's difficult to follow the history of the conspiracy or the story of the Vila Rica. Staff were very helpful, however, and lots of security. No photos allowed!

It was great to learn so much about a slice of Brasilian history and the staff were very friendly and accommodating of our requirements. Wish we could have taken photos but it was still an awesome day out nonetheless.

A shame that photos are not allowed, but it is a great place! I enjoyed the museum and the glimpse it gives into the history of Ouro Preto and Brazil. The staff was super friendly and worked hard to accommodate the disability on one of the people in our party.

Highly recommend. Compelling story-telling about early colonial and revolution history. Signs have English translations which are a bit archaic, and hard to understand, but give a basic story.

(Translated by Google) Collection of rare beauty, the museum houses pieces from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. The memorial of the inconfidence, objects of religiosity, clothing, works by Aleijadinho, master Athayde, extremely rich furniture of the time, litters, carts, the sentence that condemned Tiradentes, the gallows wood, the martyr's pocket watch of the inconfidence as well as his professional material (boticoes, scissors, pliers, extractors etc). The building's architecture reveals curiosities about safety, culture, engineering and even bizarre fe6 hygiene habits of the time. The visit is a journey into the past, which reveals ideals of freedom, the strength of women in the revolution, the literary figures of romanticism, bucolism. Finally, a Brazilian history class that does not allow you to leave the museum without a new vision of the time that the objects portray (Original) Acervo de rara beleza, o museu abriga peças dos séculos XVI, XVII, XVIII. (Translated by Google) Museum very well organized: in addition to a team of well-trained guides, you accompany the environments and exhibitions with audio equipment with rich and detailed description, with content in Portuguese and English. There are beautiful works of art, some very peculiar - it is worth talking to the guides to dig deeper stories. The building itself is already a curious walk. You will leave with a very detailed view of how the movement of Inconfidência Mineira happened. (Translated by Google) Today, facing the Museum of Inconfidência, anyone who passes through Praça Tiradentes does not even imagine how much history is contained in it. Built to be, at the time of the glorious Empire, simultaneously although on different floors, the City Hall and the Jail in one of its dependencies is the homage to the Inconfidentes; headstones name each of them with the Tiradentes memorial and the Minas Gerais State flag in the center. On its façade is the Emperor's Fountain, erected in celebration of Dom Pedro II's birthday. For many decades there, as well as in all 19 Fountains of Ouro Preto, the pure, clear water of the Serra de Ouro Preto no longer flows. With our backs to the Museum, we see in front of the obelisk with the statue of Tiradentes as if it were walking towards the execution gallows. In this place, after being hanged and quartered at Largo da Lampadosa (nowadays Tiradentes Square in Rio de Janeiro) Tiradentes had its head raised on a "pole of shame" displayed there for the population of Arraial de Antônio Dias and Arraial de Ouro Preto. The first tribute in this place was the Coluna Saldsnha Marinho, today close to the Railway Station. Already behind the statue is the Governors' Palace.

Excelent museum housed in Ouro Preto's old municipal building and jail. An attractive building built between 1784 and 1854 on the south side of Praça Tiradentes. It contains the tomb of historical hero Tiradentes, documents of the Inconfidencia Mineira revolt, also some artistic works of Aleijadinho and Manuel da Costa Ataíde.
