On
a
hot
day
in
late
May,
three
friends
and
I
searched
out
this
'superette'
--
a
little
grocery
store
below
the
hotel
--
to
have
a
cold
beer.
(More
on
the
hotel
itself
in
the
last
paragraph.)
We
found
very
tasty
local
beers,
deliciously
chilled,
and
we're
even
offered
glasses
by
the
owner,
despite
the
signs
advising
us
that
we'd
have
to
drink
from
the
bottle,
sitting
on
the
friendly
terrasse.
We
also
picked
up
a
few
pastries
that
were
very
yummy.
The
store
was
well
stocked
with
regional
products
and
food
essentials.
The
beer
was
so
good
that
we
went
back
in
to
buy
some
to
take
home,
and
were
offered
(free)
the
last
of
the
day's
croissants
et
pains
au
chocolat,
since
the
store
would
be
closing
soon.
The
young
man
and
his
wife
bought
the
hotel
a
few
years
ago,
renovated
it,
and
opened
the
grocery
store
in
full
pandemic.
They
are
a
lovely
couple,
friendly,
energetic,
full
of
ideas.
They
source
local
products
from
other
young
people
who've
set
up
businesses
in
the
Dévoluy
and
beyond.
It's
a
very
dynamic
little
area.
Friends
of
mine
stayed
in
the
hotel
a
year
ago
and
said
it
was
very
comfortable;
they'd
love
to
return.
They
said
there's
a
shared
kitchen
outside
the
room
which
they
greatly
appreciated.
