Come here and visit an ancient fort which is more than 1000 years old situated in the scenic and beautiful Hunza valley. Altit Fort has also received UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Award. Serena Hotels is now managing and maintaining this fort admirably and one may enjoy staying there at Serena Altit Fort Residence.

Well maintained historical fort. The guide explained its history and all the aspects of Altit Fort. Must visit if interested in the ancient silk route history. I would suggest some printed history and facts about this fort to be available for visitors.

Altit Fort in Hunza Gilgit Baltistan! It's a historical fort that offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Altit Fort is known for its stunning beauty and rich history. It is located in the Hunza Valley of Gilgit Baltistan. Exploring the fort allows you to step back in time and learn about the region's fascinating heritage. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend visiting Altit Fort! It's worth a visit if you're in the area!

The fort is very unique and differently designed than the other forts I've been to in GB.. It's so high and away from the valley.. The view of the River Indus looks magical from here.. It carries an interesting tale of two brothers, one who lived at Altit and the other on Baltit.. The guide inside Altit fort will tell you the whole history and you'll enjoy it! The entrance ticket is 600 per pax!

Wonderful experience visiting the altit fort during the cherry blossom season..beautiful place..but ticket prices were 600 per person which are not justified at all which is looting the tourists..tickets prices should be reasonable like other government tourist places in Pakistan..

Altit fort is such a lovely and historical place to visit. The architecture and design of concepting the defense back in days can be witness through everything they have in there. Not to forget about the garden they have to the way. It's nothing but a hopeful green with young vibes all around.

It represents the history of people living in hunza valley. There is ticket and a guide there tells you the whole story regarding different sections of the fort and their purpose. Fort is a thoughtful ancient construction by its location and usage. The local history is preserved there presented by pictures and things.

What an amazing experience. Not your regular fort, if you re from the plain areas. Very small but rich with history. Good tour guides as well. Renovation work is laudable. Had a great time there.

There are two forts in that area. Altit and baltit fort. The king was the same for both forts. Altit is relatively smaller but there's an interesting story behind everything kept there. The ticket was priced at 600rs per person. The closing time was around 4-4:30pm. The ticket also includes a free guide who tells you the story behind everything. It will take around 30-60mins inside if there is no rush. Car parking: there's a paid parking ground (charged at 100rs) for the fort outside the narrow streets. There is also a Serena hotel with also the facilities inside the fort ground if someone wants to stay there. We only visited altit fort as we didn't know which one to choose; altit or baltit. Baltit is apparently bigger and has more museum items moved/taken from altit fort. People are generally very polite, educated and friendly.

The fort itself is very well managed with guides explaining the history of every room and giving a proper tour of the place. The ticket prices however have far exceeded Rs. 250, back in June 2022 it was around Rs. 650. The fort has a beautiful view to offer of the river and the valley. The fort is accessible by road.

The Altit fort is one of the oldest fort standing in the world, that was erected around 1100 years back. It is still one of the beautiful structures in the stunning Hunza valley. Overseeing the new KKH and the old Silk Road, the views from this fort is mesmerising.

This is an amazing Cultural heritage of Hunza Gilgit Baltistan Pakistan. Its like any other ancient fort , the garden next to it is beautiful .That is worth the visit. Other than that how the people in the fort lived is still how the people around hunza live. The fort / palace is over 700 years old. An insight into medieval Baltit history and the lives of their royalty. Eye-opening facts and spine-tingling rugged mountain views. The gardens at the base deserve a special mention as do the confident young local women participating equally in all activities.

Altit Fort: a place which is quite different from other though its fort but not a very typical type of fort in terms of its unique architecture, ambiance and location. The fort was built many centuries ago but it still has its royal charm, and strength. Very dynamic in shape and the surrounding of this placyis very interesting. For entering this place you have to cross a beautiful pathway of local streets where you can see the local culture and beauty and a beautiful pool too. At the entrance there is huge beautiful lush green garden (summer) and a Cafe with beautiful scenic location and views of mountains and river. The fort is built on a giant rock's top on the other side of the Rock there is a huge fall and shouting river flowing all the way to South. And besides the river you can also see the Karakoram Highway. The fort is beautiful and different with its small doors and tiny rooms. The fort is located at a cliff of a mountain so you can keep eye on the entire city and as well all the possible entrance of the valley.

Khabasi residence Altit Fort (Urdu: قلعہ التیت‎) is an ancient fort at Altit town in the Hunza valley in Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. It was originally home to the hereditary rulers of the Hunza state who carried the title Mir, although they moved to the somewhat younger Baltit fort nearby three centuries later. Altit Fort and in particular the Shikari tower is around 1100 years old,[1] which makes it the oldest monument in the Gilgit–Baltistan. The fort has received the UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation in 2011.

A good place to visit when you're in Hunza. Situated at a height of about 1000 m, it gives you a wide ariel view of the ancient colony of local people still residing in the historical style houses safeguarding their heritage. You can also enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the majestic landscape and that of Indus river flowing quietly, from atop. This place requires an entry ticket of Rs 600/- per person which may conjugate into quite much for a big family but the good thing is a tour guide shall escorts you for a well detailed tour of the whole place briefing you about the ancient history of this fort.

Eye catching Royal Garden welcomes you at the fort after buying a ticket for 600rs per person. Washroom facility is also available near the royal garden. Fort is somewhat kept in its origional form and architecture by the Agha khan foundation. Inshort, it is a place worth visiting.

I wasn't that impressed with the main fort, but the area around altit fort and the bazar was fascinating. We had food there and roamed around the small streets. The locals were all sitting under shady trees, and the kids were playing in the water. It is a lovely place to roam around

A world heritage site, and rightfully so. A tour guide who knew more than any history books could teach us. Transported back into time of mughals, kings and warriors who lived daily, and died bravely. Please do go here and capture sites, smells of dungeon, the tomb of the prince, and many other surprises hidden inside this fort. Get to see the famous mount lady finger! See the gorgeous crystal clear river mix with the Indus. That is a romantic story on its own! Strongly recommend

Its stunning architecture, sweeping vistas, and role as a cultural hub make it an absolute must-visit destination for anyone exploring the wonders of Hunza Valley. Altit Fort is much better than Baltit Fort, if someone tells you that you should skip Altit and just visit Baltit, ignore them. It's easy access, less crowded and without the guide. You can walk freely and explore as per your wish rather being shepherd. It's a lot smaller than Baltit Fort but offers much better value for your money and time! A must visit place in Hunza!

A beautifully preserved 1000 year old settlement. Our guide Shabir Hussain walked us through the history of the place and brought it to life with his words. The wood work on the few remaining buildings is of ionian greek style. It's interesting to see signs of buddhism, Hinduism, italian and greek civilisations carved into the wood work of the 500 year old mosques. The place is a blast from the past.

A very famous fort roughly 1100 years old situated right in middle of a historical village called altit village. It is situated in karimabad, cultural capital of Hinza district in Gilgit Baltistan region. This fort is not very big but shahi gardens adjacent to the fort are really beautiful having sky high snow covered peaks in the background. Highly recommended as ticket price is only Rs 600 for local tourists and guided tour is included in the price!

Ticket is for 600 ruppees.A must visit if you are on a hunza tour.Altit Fort a product of an architectural virtuoso is not only the fact that it sits atop a cliff; about 1000 feet above the Hunza River, it is in its foundation that was laid more than a millennia ago and is still intact.Altit Fort is the oldest monument of Gilgit-Baltistan and is known as the ‘birthplace’ of the Hunza kingdom.word Altit is derived from a Tibetan word that means ‘this side down’. The village lore states that the fort was built by craftsmen from Gilgit-Baltistan who came all the way here to construct it on their Princess’s command who was a Balti and married to then Mir of Hunza. The fort was built for defense purposes but it also served as Hunza’s capital until the seat of power was shifted to Baltit Fort 3 centuries later. It is said that the fort was constructed in 6 different phases while using different natural levels of rock.

I am writing the review of Altit fort here as Google maps not allowing so on Altit fort. Altit fort was built around 1100 years by the king of Hunza. They are from hunzu tribe and migrated from China through silk route. It is mainly built for military strategic purpose. It contain different rooms like security room, storage room, living room, death penalty execution point and royal army selection area. Visit charges is 600 PKR which includes guide support.
