(A
DETAILED
REVIEW)
Jaz
Banda
is
a
place
when
it
reveals
its
full
face
to
you
after
you
come
up,
for
a
moment,
you
might
not
believe
that
you
are
actually
here.
Since
we
hiked
through
the
night,
it
astounded
us
in
the
morning
when
we
woke
up
and
unzipped
our
tent.
This
is
one
of
the
many
heavens
in
the
north
of
Pakistan.
It
is
an
all-in-one
spot.
Fresh
water
lakes,
plenty
waterfalls,
snow-dotted
mountains,
enthralling
meadows,
chilling
cold
in
the
middle
of
summer,
opportunity
of
extensive
hikes,
clear
streams,
thick
forests,
grazing
grounds,
light
rains
(fortunately
or
unfortunately),
and
a
chance
to
witness
milkyway
at
night
(if
you
are
lucky).
All
at
a
height
of
3100m.
Every
nook
and
corner
pleases
your
sight.
Literally
every
nook
and
corner.
How
do
you
come
here?
It
is
in
Dir
Kohistan.
From
Thal
you
take
left
to
Kumrat.
But
don't
take
left,
come
straight
and
take
a
right
and
you
will
reach
here.
A
point,
Takki
Banda,
Jandri,
comes
where
your
vehicle,
even
4x4,
loses
it
and
you
will
have
to
fend
for
yourself.
From
that
point,
there
is
3-5
hours
hike,
depending
upon
you.
Locals
do
it
in
1-2
hours.
Jaz
Banda
itself
is
an
attraction.
But
from
here,
there
are
sites
you
must
not
miss.
From
the
Jaz
Bands
top,
there
is
another
2-4
hours
hike
to
Kathora
Lake.
If
you
go
to
Jaz
Banda
and
don't
go
there,
your
trip
would
be
terribly
incomplete.
Somehow
go
there,
and
behold
what
lies
at
the
end.
Fascinating
scenery.
Also,
don't
miss
the
waterfall.
You
will
go
downhill
and
it
is
easy.
Takes
probably
1.5
hours
overall.
But
again,
a
mesmerising
spot.
The
people
of
Kohistan
are
very
welcoming;
their
hearts
brim
with
purity,
thier
outlooks
with
innocence.
But
they
dread
that
this
influx
of
tourists
may
erode
their
local
customs
and
culture.
But
they
have
accepted
this
cost
in
a
hope
to
see
their
region
developed,
with
varying
business
and
job
opportunities.
