Visited there last summer and it was spectacular. A true natural beauty in Pakistan. MashaAllah! As a foreigner I was really looking forward to seeing the full beauty of Pakistan’s landscape. However the biggest issue there is the families and tourists who just toss their garbage on the ground… Terrible. Just terrible. Carry your garbage in and out of these natural parks and valleys. Do not throw your trash into lakes, fields, parking lots, or anywhere other than a designated waste disposal. Please do your part to keep our planet clean, and reprimand those who do not. Especially kids and ignorant family members. My three year old (at the time) would collect the trash around her when the other families would just toss wrappers and bottles on the ground. If my three year old can keep our planet clean, so can you. There is no excuse. Please keep Mahodand Lake and every space in Pakistan as Allah intended it! It seems nothing is sacred in today’s society… Be the change you want in the world. And spread the word. Alhamdullilah 🌏✨

Visited this place more than 5 times in my life. Very difficult place to visit. Road conditions are too bad. You can get there in your personal car. You have to hire local car which will be around 5000 to 12000 pkr depend upon car. The place is very beautiful like heaven. Wash room facility are worst.

That was one of the finest heart touching and breath taking point I ever visited. Such a beautiful meadows and water coming out in several lanes. Cool atmosphere out there. Just grab a 4 x 4 early in the morning and went out there. You should take water bottles and snacks with you to enjoy your visit.

beautiful lake on ushu River, can be visited on 4x4s only, a must visit spot for all those visiting kalam valley. Saifullah lake, Nasrallah lake, maodand lake , ushu village, ushu forest, and falak sair are the few spots one must visit , it takes a complete day to visit these places, located on ushu River, can be trekked on 4x4 , using services of locally available land cruires. Tourists are advised to negotiate rates and timings before leaving for sight seeing in these areas, since drivers can be itchy at times insisting on hushing up the tour and trying to save their time , for second stint with another set of tourist, leaving you only touching the sights with no time to absorb the beauty of thes areas. I was lucky to hire Mr Hikmat as driver , who took great pains and times to show us around in his modest but clean landcruiser with great driving skills, he became our guide to the area gave us historical knowledge of area and showed us around complete ushu valley with no hurry. Just posting his contact details in case you want peace of mind once visiting ushu and utror river vales.

A scenic place to visit and gets the top spot on the go to list, though a hectic jeep traveling from Kalam vis Osho Forest, Mattiltan, Palogha, Chashma Shifa and then finally First of 3 lake seires, namely Maho Dand, Saifullah and Nasrullah Lake. One must visit all three Lakes and enjoy the beauty and serenity if Nature, better take eatables along and Mineral water to avoid mal nutrition and food poisoning.

You need to book jeep or 4*4 wheel car to visit this beautiful lake. The facilities are average. Camping and fishing spots are very good.

Visiting this place in the winters is a whole new experience. You can play around in the white snow blankets all around the lake. When you're tired, you can sit down at one of the stalls there to eat some freshly fried pakoray and enjoy a cup of coffee. Don't forget to finish them quick, they'll get cold really fast in the below 0°c temps.

Beautiful lake but ugly look tent restaurants and pakora shops not only ruined its beauty but created environmental issues as well like polythene bags, juice, milk boxes, chips wrappers. No garbage cleaning arrangements and nearby hotel washes dishes etc in river/lake water. Nature has granted beauty on abundance but we spare nothing to scar it

Mahodand Lake (Urdu: مہوڈنڈ جھیل; Pashto: د ماهو ډنډ - "Lake of Fishes") is a lake located in the upper Usho Valley at a distance of about 35 kilometres (22 mi) from Kalamin Swat District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. The lake is accessible by a four-wheel drive vehicle, and is often utilized for fishing and boating. Lake type: Alpine/ Glacial lake Primary inflows: Glaciers water Primary outflows: Ushu Khwar Basin countries: Pakistan Max. length: 2 km (1.2 mi) Max. width: 1.2 km (0.75 mi) Surface elevation: 2,865 m (9,400 ft) Settlements: Matiltan, Ushu, Kalam Valley Definitely worth a day family trip Mahodand lake is one of the main attractions in kalam. It's about 2.5 hrs jeep ride which takes quite a toll on your body. You can do horse riding and boating there. Do compare prices before you book one. Food and beverages are available there but limited options. As i told you It is located about 2.5 hours jeep drive from Kalam. You have to hire jeep from Kalam Bazar and start early like 7:00 am to enjoy this place. There is a centeral island forest surronded by the lake. There are motor boats available for the ride at a very reasonable rate. The food quality is not good there so better to bring your own eatables. The influx of large number of visitors have desteroyed its beauty. There is so much deforstation all around. The indian wash rooms are available but mostly on payment. The best plan to visit here is to reach at 9:30 am , take a boat ride and spend some time in the island and then travel to the nearby Saifaullah lake which is about 10-15 minutes drive from there and a worth place to spend more tome. There is a beautiful waterfall there also. Just 5km further there is an other lake Saif ullah lake. Nice place to spend some time.

Swat, Kalam, Mohodand is very attractive and beautiful place. Especially you will find beautiful mountains, river streams, waterfalls and amazing places during ride towards Mohodand. Only 4X4 Jeeps should travel as road is totally off road track. It would be dangerous and risky idea use your own cars. You can hire Jeeps 6000 to 10,000 PKR depending on the Jeep, comfort and season.
