The dam was completed in 2001 at a cost of PKR 20.13 million. The reservoir has a gross command area of 323.88 km².

Correct Name is " New Dhoke Tahlian Dam " located on the western side of Chakwal- Choa Saidan Shah Road near village Dhoke Tahlian and a small village Ijazabad.

Dhok Tahlian Dam is a multi-purpose dam in Chakwal District, Punjab Province, Pakistan. The dam is located on the Tahlian Nullah, a tributary of the River Jhelum. It impounds a reservoir with a capacity of 33,400-acre-feet (41,500,000 m3). The dam was completed in 1975 and its primary purpose is to provide irrigation water for an area of 33,400 acres (134 km2) in the Jhelum and Chenab river basins. It also serves as a drinking water source for the city of Chakwal and as a power generation site for Pakistan.
