This place is one of my favorite places during my visit to Skardu. On Day first we visited Upper Kachura Lake which is about 25KM from Skardu City. You can enjoy Boating, Swimming, Drafting and Hiking. You cannot ignore to have a fresh glass of juice from local Apricot.

The Kachura Lakes are three lakes in the Skardu Locale of Gilgit-Baltistan, northern Pakistan. The lakes, at 2,500 meters (8,200 ft) in height, are Upper Kachura Lake and Lower Kachura Lake. The last option is otherwise called Shangrila Lake and is inside a traveler resort named Shangrila Resort outside the town of Skardu one more lake called Zambakha Lake is arranged in the little town Zambakha neighboring Shangri-la. The lakes are in the Karakoram mountain scope of the western Himalayas, the more noteworthy Kashmir district, and in the Indus Stream bowl. I would propose avoiding this lake and head off to some place better.Misrepresented place, I remained for 15 minutes and left. No doubt, the lake isn't terrible yet nothing astounding. There is a speedboat and a boat. Actually not a lot to do. Pls focus that you should walk/climb around 15 mins from vehicle leave region to the lake, high heels won't be appropriate.

It took me around 15-20 minutes of walking⁹ From the car park to the lake, the lake was beautiful, and i really enjoyed the boat ride and jet ski .

Nice view of amazing and attractive place Beauty of nature indeed The Kachura Lakes (Urdu: کچورہ جھیل) are three lakes in the Skardu District of Gilgit-Baltistan, northern Pakistan. The lakes, at 2,500 metres (8,200 ft) in elevation, are Upper Kachura Lake and Lower Kachura Lake.[1] The latter is also known as Shangrila Lake and is within a tourist resort named Shangrila Resort outside the town of Skardu another lake called Zambakha Lake is situated in the small village Zambakha adjacent to Shangri-la. The lakes are in the Karakoram mountain range of the western Himalayas, the greater Kashmir region, and in the Indus River basin. Upper Kachura Lake is of clear water and has a depth of 70 metres (230 ft). In summer it has a temperature of 15 °C (59 °F).[2] In winter the surface is frozen solid. The upper Indus River flows nearby at a lower elevation. The beauty of the Upper Kachura Lake is almost untampered and mostly unexplored by travelers, due to lack of infrastructure owing to its rough terrain The area has a rich flora of the Western Himalayan subalpine conifer forests ecoregion, and also known for its wild apricot - Prunus armeniaca orchards. Recreation activities at Upper Kachura Lake include hiking, trout fishing, and Himalaya mountaineering.

One of the best nature hikes and views. Very peaceful if not crowded. Food is expensive around it. Try the other side of lake take a boat and have a picnic

Beautiful lake, love it in autumn. Best time to visit is early morning. Boats available, would recommended paddle boat, costs 1000 for 30 mins for 2 pax.

Beautiful lake with water sports available. Breathtaking views! Approach is a bit hard as Lake is far from parking and then restaurants make the route unnecessarily longer so that tourists pass through their businesses instead of taking the shorter route

An excellent place to spend time. Much better than overrated Shangrila resort. It is advisable to leave early from Skardu for a day trip to ShangriLa, Upper Kachura and Soq valley, and have breakfast @ Upper Kachura.

Upper Kachura lake is good. Boating is expansive (Rs 2000/- per trip). Some bargain may be applicable. Photography from other side may be preferred by accessing via boat or have some walk (may be about 30 minutes with some local guide).

Kachura is a very calm and beautiful village located in the Skardu district of Gilgit-Baltistan. The three famous lakes in the same area have been the center of tourist attraction for a long time. Located at an altitude of 2,500 meters (8,200 ft), these lakes are Upper Kachura Lake, Lower Kachura Lake, and Zambakha Lake, which is in Zambakha, a village a little away from Kachura. But among these three lakes, Lower Kachura Lake and Upper Kachura Lake are the most famous. These lakes are located in the Great Karakoram mountain range of the Western Himalayas, large areas of Kashmir, and the Indus River basin. The Indus River "Pakistan's Largest River" passes nearby at lower elevations. One can enjoy the view of the snow-capped mountains and can enjoy trout fishing, hiking, and mountaineering in the Western Himalayas. There are two ways to reach the shore of the Lake, first you have to go from the Upper side of the Village, but it's a bit difficult even for me. Because many stairs were going down, more than 100 steps at a 70° angle, and of course it was impossible to reach anyone who has different abilities. But on the other side of the Shore of Upper Kachura lake, we saw some cars were there, which means people with ♿ different abilities can reach there with their families and enjoy the mesmerizing view of Upper Kachura Lake. We spent almost three hours there but didn't go boating because it was a little bit expensive for my budget. But I was so happy to see that they were fulfilling all the safety precautions for the visitors and for the people who were enjoying boating there like Life Jackets and an expert swimmer with them in every boat. I don't know when I will be back in Skardu again, because like all big cities, Karachi has a fast life too. But I wish and pray from the bottom of my heart that I can be there one day again and spend a whole day there, to just sit and see the beautiful creation of the Almighty.

A scenic place gradually being destroyed by ill planned commercial activity. The place was reeking with litter and sewerage smell. Pathetic. Government needs to do something. Please respect the place. Keep it clean. Act responsibly.

Beautiful place, it's a rushy place, park your car/bike and then 5min track to reach this place. You can find plenty of food courts and you can enjoy boarding

We lived at Tibet Hotel near Shangri-la resort. From there it's half an hour drive to Upper kachura lake through meadows.. Picturesque lake with Blue turquoise water.. We enjoyed hi power Jet ride in boat, and had the thrill of our life only for 2500/.. A dip in lake by side bank is recommended.. 💐⛳

The lake is lovely. The problem is that since it isn't a very big lake, the boating has made it a hotspot for tourists, and it is very busy. On top of that, the walk to get there is quite tiring. It was easy to go down, but I saw many ppl having a lot of trouble going back up. Im not sure if it is worthy of that long trek. But it is one of the famous areas of skardu so it would be a shame to miss it. You will need to park in one of the many parking areas available for a small fee.
