Such a beautiful place but what make it an awful is the entry fee RS.1000 per head on the enterance. A cafe inside the resort have no special taste for tea n coffee :( compare to what they charge. You have to stay in certain area and are not allowed to explore the whole resort.

One of the best places I visited in the Skardu region. The view is absolutely stunning and the water is so clear. Motorboats are not available due to the seaweed in the lake but normal boating is possible and available at reasonable prices. Boating in that lake was a very serene experience. The lake is a very short drive from Skardu city and can be visited at all times. Visiting from Shangrila Resort costs PKR 1,000 per person but from the opposite direction hotels, it would cost you about PKR 300 or less per person, depending upon the hotel's entry fee for the lake and your negotiation abilities. Shangrila Resort will provide you with a different view of the lake and Skardu region with beautiful green mountains in the back and Rocky cliff behind the lake in your front view. Boating options are available from Shangrila Resort and the food options alongside food quality are much better in Shangrila compared to the rest of the restaurants in the region. However the view may be better from the hotels opposite to Shangrila since they face towards Skardu Valley and provide a beautiful view where the scenery opens up. So the Rocky cliff is behind you while the green hills and snow capped mountains are in your front view, making an absolutely stunning scenery via reflection from the lake in clear weather. The lake will give you a breathtaking view in clear, sunny weather whereas a cloudy weather would be diminishing the beauty of that view, however, providing a different view which may still be preferable to some tourists.

Lower Kachura Lake, also known as Shangrila Lake, is a captivating natural gem located near the town of Skardu in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan. It is renowned for its serene beauty, crystal-clear waters, and surrounding landscapes that offer a sense of tranquility and awe. The lake is nestled amidst the magnificent Karakoram and Himalayan mountain ranges, making it a picturesque destination. Its turquoise blue waters, reflecting the snow-capped peaks and lush greenery, create a mesmerizing sight that captivates visitors. The name "Shangrila" is derived from the novel "Lost Horizon" by James Hilton, and it perfectly encapsulates the idyllic and enchanting ambiance of the lake. One of the notable features of Lower Kachura Lake is the presence of a small island within it. Known as the "Shangrila Resort," this island is accessible by boat and offers a unique experience to visitors. The resort features traditional-style cottages, lush gardens, and a restaurant where guests can enjoy local cuisine while taking in the panoramic views of the lake and mountains.

The serenity, the ultimate khubsurati and legit feels would make you never wanna leave this place in any case. Bet? What a beautiful experience it was to be here. Totally in it. It has been twice that i visited this place and everytime it gave an unforgettable experience. A beautiful lake, preserved its natural beauty as it is, gives one of the most scenic views that one may have experienced. Boating is one of the main activities. Complete boat can be booked for 2000 rupees (around $15). A place called Nazara Hotel is just a small hike away from lake. Its a peaceful place which serves the trout fish. Fish and view of the lake is the prize of this hotel that is worth every penny.

This such a beautiful man made lake. What really makes me angry that they have a 1,000 rupees ticket just to enter. Are you fckn crazy? There are hotels, restaurants and few shops which are obviously expensive but I'm only mad about the price of ticket. Follow IG: @sheesbinshahid

Shangrila Lake is located in Kachura village in Skardu city The lake was called Shangrila lake after Shangrila Resort was built on its bank in 1983. This is an artificial lake and heart shaped lake is the most beautiful and picturesque site in Skardu. Upper Kachura lake which is also famous for boating etc is situated at a distance of few kms from here. The lake is surrounded by all types of lodging food facilities though very expensive.

Shangrila was named after a book titled "Lost Horizon" by James Hilton. In the novel, the author narrates a tale in which an aeroplane crash landed near a riverbed, in the early 1920s. The surviving passengers came across some Buddhist monks from a nearby temple and sought their help. They were taken to a beautiful lamasery filled with a variety of fruits and flowers. The monks looked quite young, although they claimed to be hundreds of years old. The idyllic place was called Shangri-la, a Chinese word meaning "Heaven on earth".

A very beautiful place to visit with family, there are multiple resorts and hotels around which aren't even very expensive during the off season. The lake is very well kept however, each motel is going to charge you some money to enter their premises and take photos of the lake. The most expensive one is Shangrila Hotel and it also has a view point on top of a small hill. This view point can be accessed via a small medium difficulty 10-15 mins hiking. There are boats as well that will give you a ride around the lake. A very calm and peaceful place when not too crowded. The lake is one of a kind heart-shaped and clean, so it's worth paying the visit.

Wonderful to witness the beauty. Entry ticket for tourists is Rs. 1000/- which is on higher side. As a tourist, limited space is open for you (may be 10-15% only). You can not walk around the lake as remaining area is part of the hotels which are accessible only for guests. In my opinion, visit about one and a half hour before sunset. Enjoy daylight and the enjoy the environment after sunset.

Came during autumn Oct 2022. It was late evening almost sunset. Not enough light and time. But it was a beautiful place to stay(we didn't). The lake was clean and clear, almost mirror like. There was a big blueberry tree with tons of fruits on it but it was too high to sneak one in my mouth. Not alot of flowers though, maybe in spring. You could spend about one hour in it and then that's it, nothing else to see. If you have extra money why not stay there or have a nice lunch/dinner. Oh ya, 1000pkr per entry......hahaha!

One of the fantastic picnic points in Skardu. Kachura Lake and Park is an amazing place. You can stay here at night but room rents and other services rates are very high. Average room rent is almost 15k to 30k. Upper Kachura is almost 15 minutes drive which is a natural and fantastic lake.

Kachura Lakes Karakoram National Park, Kachura, Skardu The Lower Kachura Lake in in Central Karakoram National Park, Skardu, Pakistan, is also known as the "Shangrila Lake" because of the "Shangrila Resort Hotel" located on the edges of the lake. The Shangrila was named after the book "Lost Horizon" which speaks about this place which is heaven on earth. Shangri-la is Tibetan word which means "Heaven on earth". Shangrila Resort Hotel was opened in 1983 by Muhammad Aslam Khan, the first commander of the Northern Scouts of the Pakistan Army. A photo of Lower Kachura Lake taken by Zaeem Siddiq won the best international picture award for the year 2015. The contest, The Wiki Loves Earth contest, was organised by the Wikimedia Foundation. Shangrila lake or Lower Kachura Lake is a part of Shangrila Resort. The lake is surrounded by some official rest houses and private guest houses. Shangrila is a popular tourist destination and has a unique restaurant built on the fuselage of a an aircraft that had crush-landed nearby. The resort was established by late Brig. (R) M Aslam the first commander of Northern Scout of Pakistan Army. It was named “heaven on earth” because this place is tremendously rich and unmatched in the natural scenic beauty. Copied

Known locally as Shangrila Lake after the resort that was built on its banks in the 1980s, the lake is a short drive of 20 minutes from Skardu. The word Shangri-la means ’Heaven on Earth’, and a visit to this scenic lake in Pakistan will make you testify to the name and its translations. While the resort offers a number of water sports on the lake, you can also rent a boat privately for a short trip over the lake’s still waters.

The experience of my stay at Shangrilla Resort, Skardu was outstanding. This resort is well spread over a large span of land. The rooms here are not confined in one building. Rather, there are small buildings of two separate rooms, with a gap between the buildings, because of which I enjoyed unbelievably privacy. As the Resort is spread over a large span of land, I enjoyed walking whenever I can out of the rooms which I had booked in advance. There is a small man-made lake in the centre of the entire land of this Resort. Tourists can enjoy boating in this man-made lake.
