My experience of this grand structure was very negative. Much of it was closed off and not accessible. I paid 15.50 euro for admission and then had to get change and pay to use the toilet. ALL of the staff members I saw or interacted with (about ten) were surly, on their phones, and not wanting to be bothered by visitors. It's a good thing none of them were on my payroll. One would expect to buy a ticket at the entrance. No. One has to hike across a large park plaza to a kiosk on the far side. That said, the royal garden was pleasant and the royal chapel especially satisfying to visit.

Do not go there, unless it's some national holiday and you get free access... The most expensive site in the city (19€) for a good for nothing ultramodernist art exhibition in the cellar, in the dark. Then the so called royal chambers, that is actually probably the office of the parliament. The only thing worth looking is the golden mosaic chapel. They only let you in after a very serious security check, charge you a fortune, but make you pay extra(!) for the toilet once you are in! They shout at you if you make a mistake of turning the wrong turn, however they keep talking on their mobiles loud, and do not wear their masks properly. Any other place is better than this in Palermo...

This does not always feature on top lists for Palermo which makes no sense. There is so much to see here in what is also a working government building. In a city with many churches the Palantine Chapel is still a stand out. Next up are the Royal apartments which are interesting and beautiful. The garden is a welcome change of pace but I would give the cafe a miss. Then there are the art galleries. When we visited this includes Steve McCurry "Freedom" which is very powerful, there will be something for everyone though. Tips: Not everything is always open so make sure in advance. We went on a Friday when everything was open but I don't know if that is always the case. On Thursday hardly anything was. It gets very busy with many groups including schools so definitely try to get there when it opens.

I visited it a couple of days ago and it was a bit of a mixed bag. Firstly, the Palatine Chapel was an absolute gem. Mosaics are so marvellous and beautiful that I could have spent hours admiring the details. On the flip side, the Royal Palace was a bit underwhelming and there wasn’t much to see. The complex ticket for 20€ also included some strange artwork exhibition and the Royal garden which is nice but very small. And another one fly in ointment - I had to pay for the toilet! Ok, 50 cents is not a big cost, but paying for the loo in the museum where I have already spent 20€ for the visit was a real nonsense for me. In summary, I’d recommend to visit only the Palatine Chapel - it’s small but breathtaking.

A bit disappointed to be charged full price and then realize the Royal Apartments cannot be visited during the week. The exhibition was mediocre but was amazing to see the Palatine Chapel which was the only most worth hall to see was the palatine chapel. The gardens are small and underwhelming. Oh you must buy FFP2 masks before you enter and €3 a mask by the ticket office is a rip off as it's €1-€3 at the nearby pharmacy!

Nice place, I guess it has to be seen when in Palermo. The main attraction is the church. Beautiful mosaics, really spectacular. The rest is a bit hit and miss. The royal garden is nothing grand, few contemporary exhibits along the way, that frankly can easily be missed. Price wise, it is a bit stiff for what's on offer.

The chapel is impressive. The palace is large and features nice artwork and mozaics. The gardens are exotic and explore (or have set the trend for) the huge ficus tree mania that seems to be present in Palermo :)

Very small church, but probably the most beautiful I saw in my life. You'll be able to get here with palace tickets, and, probably, it's the only worth visiting place in the whole palace. Ceiling is beautiful and so unusual, mosaics are marvelous and, obviously, a lot and a lot of gold around. Real masterpiece.

Chapel and was absolutely blown away by the beauty of the architecture and decor. The intricate details and grandeur of the palace and chapel are truly breathtaking, and I highly recommend a visit to anyone in the area. However, I was disappointed to find out that the toilet facilities were not free. While I understand that maintenance and upkeep costs money, it would have been nice to have been informed of this beforehand, or for there to be a more affordable option available. Despite this minor inconvenience, the Royal Palace and Palatine Chapel are a must-see for anyone interested in history, art, or architecture. The stunning beauty of the site is truly worth the visit.

Lovely place. You get to see the main concourse garden and Chapel. Sculpted dogs lying on floor? Interesting.

We bought a ticket a few minutes before 4pm, which is when they close the ticket office. Price was pretty steep with 19 € per Person. Palatine Chapel was nice but only open for another 20min when you buy the ticket this late, nobody told us but 20min are enough anyway. The rest of the building (royal chambers, garden & exhibition) was not worth the money at all. In general very overpriced for what you get and I would recommend only to buy a ticket for the chapel if possible, and only if not more than 10 €. Anything else is a waste of money in my opinion. And what I really found a rip off, is that after paying nearly 20 € for the ticket, you still have to pay extra to use the toilette.

While the chapel is significantly smaller than other churches in Palermo, its interior is by far the most exquisite! The rest of the palace is also worth a visit, and both of its gardens are lovely. If you like the golden mosaics & Arabic-Norman-Byzantine architecture, definitely visit the cathedral in nearby Monreale.

The chapel is marvelous but really small, the palace itself is nice too. The garden is small but well maintained. The royal chambers were close when we visited, so I cannot comment on them. There are a couple of exhibitions, but we were very disappointed by them. The entry fee of 15 euros is a little excessive for what it is.

Very nice to visit the best is Palatine Chapel woooow I was mesmerised although they should include the audio guide in the 15 euro you pay for the ticket!!! It's 5 euro more but it's OK worth to have a guide inside so you know what the mosaics and the operas are about. Also some days of the week the Royal rooms are closed so choose wise when to go if you want to see those too. Don't forget to royal gardens you will be surprised I love those big trees

The capella is divine, so is Sala di Ruggero. For these two sublime pieces of art you pay 19.00 Euro; to visit the Vatican museums you pay 17.00 Euro, for 6 churches in Ravenna - 12.50 Euro. Oh, in Palazzo dei Normanni you will pay additional 0.50 Euro for the toilet! The place is full of people hanging around- members of the local parlament and so on..and the tourist tickets evidently pay for their security. At the end you buy from the museum shop something of Briuccia Sicilianstyle and next day it falls apart.

Masterpiece with every single stone as part of a magnificent Cappella. The moment of peace that surrounds you, while you are sitting inside and trying to soak every piece of information, is incredible. Try to find a missing element - almost impossible. Look back at those times and all available tools / technic - unbelievable how great the human mind and hand could be! Don't miss out and visit it for yourself!

Museum and royal garden is nice, but META Experience - temporary exhibition at Palazzo Reale is surprisingly awful and not worth visiting...

Entry is free. The interior is not incredibly beautiful and unique, but I'd suggest getting the roof ticket, it is worth the €7,(2023). The exterior architecture is amazing.

Royal palace and chapel near the cathedral. Stunning chapel inside to visit, an art gallery, small museum and gardens. The palace apartments (higher price ticket) were closed when we visited which made the visit a bit shorter. There's a Cafe in the gardens which is nice but compact. €30 for two adults, child free, but found it a little short for the price. Surprised that there's a charge of ¢50 to use the toilet. We held on. Ok but a little underwhelming.

Well worth a look if you are in Palermo The inside of the chapel is magnificent . Take a seat and view the mosaics and architecture. Quite stunning

Wowowow, I'm fairly well travelled and have seen some beautiful things but the Palatine Chapel was up there with one of the most beautiful interiors I've ever seen! Absolutely spectacular. Visiting Italy and Sicily you see some beautiful churches but this one is on another level. (50¢ coins are required to access the toilets - seems a little old fashioned, the staff in the gift shop looked pretty unimpressed breaking everyone's notes)

Spectacular golden mosaics in the Chapel. The apartments are ONLY open Friday-Sunday. Avoid at all costs the special multi-media exhibit which took us an hour in line for a 5 minute "experience. " An hour of our lives we will never get back.

Incredibly detailed, beautiful work in the chapel. The only disappointment is that some of it is closed, including the For Freedom exhibition (which says it started two days ago) so it goes very quickly. For 8 euros it’s still an incredible sight to see.

Mast have to visit if you are in Palermo! Stunning and unique place what will blow up your mind! Absolutely creamy mix of styles and you have to see it at least once in your life. Better to buy tickets in the kiosk what is not far away from the entrance, as according to the security with e-tickets might be some issues, especially if it was not bought in advance. Surprisingly there were no lines.

Overpriced and rude. There were clear attempts to make this site pleasant and presentable to visitors. However, the attending staff was beyond rude. When using the bathroom, the female staff (in a blue gown) screamed "down machine" multiple times which, as any English speaker would know, means complete jibberish. I hesitated for a second trying to gather what that could have meant when she charged at me pointing her finger, now screaming, "you English?? you no English??" At that point, she was also banging one of the coin machines (one is below the other, so I now understand she meant the one below, not the one on top). The sheer level of hostility and rage was more than palpable. She then dashed away muttering to herself. I do not walk into a public bathroom expecting to be screamed at for not understanding bad English. If staff here does not speak English, that's more than understandable too. But to be yelled at for not understanding broken English, as a paying visitor, is unpleasant to say the least. The site itself is whatever you make of it. The surrounding churches were far more enjoyable. This is something future visitors may want to consider since the tickets for the palace are definitely not on the cheaper side.

OMG! The mosaics at the Palatine Chapel are so awesome, this is a must see. It is exceptionally beautiful. Can't adequately describe such beauty, you have to see it for yourself.

On of the must see in Palermo. The church is absolutely amazing. I do recommend to get an audio guide in the book shop. You can choose your own language and get to know much more about the history of the place.

The seat of Sicilian government. Also home to a lavishly decorated chapel. The tickets - access times are limited (purchased from the kiosk on the main approach to the building) were 19 Euro per person (2022, including access to the main building and gardens, art exhibition and basement area). Cheaper ticket options are available with less access. The basement area reveals the historic excavations of the city gate foundations, viewable via the glass floor. The ground floor contains the art exhibition, the first floor houses the chapel and the second floor a further photographic exhibition (women in Afghanistan under the Taliban). If there is a queue for the chapel, going straight to the third floor and returning later is an option. The gardens are small but well maintained and a cafe serves drinks.

One of the highlights of Palermo - for good reasons. Be prepared for long lines at the ticket office (you can also book online) and long lines to get in, but the wait is worth it. This small chapel (on the 1st floor of the royal palace) stuns visitors with exquisit golden mosaics in the Byzantine style and beautiful marble inlays on the floor. Besides the church, you can also visit the royal apartments and the royal garden. There is an elevator for wheelchairs and strollers, but there are still quite a number of stairs in the royal apartments.
