Beautiful. A local elderly man was sitting looking at the building. Said he had been coming there since he was a young boy. Scene of the shooting on the steps at the end of Godfather III. 30 minute tours available. Associated restaurant shut but you can eat and view front from cafes.

We visited Teatro Massino on Tuesday, it is a very impressive building from the outside, and very interesting inside too. The tour is 12 euros each and I thought it was really worth it. Our guide was very good she done her talk in Italian first then in English. The theatre inside is very splendid and you get to sit in the seats which are very comfortable. I would recommend seeing this place, you need to visit it to see its beauty it is a bit run down in places but it is a huge building.

Took a wonderful tour of the grand Teatro Massimo on my first night in Palermo. It was informative and enjoyable and we were given lots opportunities to take pictures. The only unspectacular area was probably the orchestra pit. It would also have been interesting to visit the Men’s and Women’s Lounges/restrooms as they are usually pretty spectacular in theatres of this age. I also wish our time in Palermo had allowed us to see a performance in this grande dame.

Absolutely stunning building, beautiful ceiling and hall(s). Took the (English) guided tour which was interesting and showed us the main locations in the building, including the famous balcony from the third Godfather movie. Absolute must see when visiting Palermo.

I've always admired Teatro from the outside. This week I finally took a guided tour inside. I did not expect it will be such an extrordinary experience. The interiors are breathtaking. I strongly recommend to visit it. 🎭❀️

Amazing Opera theatre. Perfect acoustics, stunning interiors and a view into times of another era. We did the half hour tour and also went to a symphonic performance, both of which were first class. If you have an interest in theatre, performing arts and architecture worth a visit.

Beautiful and ornate Opera House in the middle of Palermo. My partner and I took the 10 euro guided tour and enjoyed learning about the history of the structure. The theater is massive and incredibly beautiful. The tour guide takes you to the main seating area of the theater and explains the design. We also toured the large private box above the main entrance which was very impressive. Walking inside the theater was worth the money seeing even the ornate stairwells was fun.

Massive opera the 3rd biggest in Europe, and the biggest in Italy. The monument it self is amazing, next time I would also go for the roof tour, we only took the inside. The reason for 3 stars is solid based on the poor guide, she was looking at her phone all the time, and seams liked she would earthier be some where else. She Almost forgot some guest and was totally uninspired.

The Teatro Massimo Vittorio Emanuele is an opera house and opera company located on the Piazza Verdi in Palermo, Sicily. It was dedicated to King Victor Emanuel II. It is the biggest in Italy, and one of the largest of Europe, renowned for its perfect acoustics. horse-drawn carriages are available for a one-hour ride around among the beautiful streets of Old Town.

It turned out to be the third largest opera house on the old continent! An incredibly beautiful and huge building, where every detail has been thought of - the columns, the lamps, the landscaping - everything. Perhaps one of the most impressive sights in Palermo. A center for many tourists and even for quite a few attractions offered to tourists.

Grand historic theatre in Palermo, Sicily. Biggest in Italy, and apparently 5thh biggest in the world - according to our Sicilian tour guide! Located in a piazza of sorts, it casts a beautiful presence. Only got to see it from the outside but it is impressive. If you are a fan of the Godfather trilogy of movies, this is where Mary Corleone is shot in the 3rd movie. If you are in Palermo, give it a visit, worth it.

One of the best theaters that I have seen, really massive. The opera room is impressive, with multiple levels of stalls and a big scene, also, the ceiling is really beautiful, in the shape of a flower, and practical, because it cand open it's small "petals" to let the air in. You can visit only with guide and the ticket is 12 euro for 40 minutes. There is a backstage option (+5 euro to the main ticket), but it is only once per day and at 13:00 o'clock, from what they told us (we didn't go).

It is definitely worth a visit but the tour guide (at least ours) was in a hurry. I had the feeling the English version of the tour was half as comprehensive as the Italian part. But it was the end of a hot day and maybe understandable. The building pretty from the outside but needs quite a bit of renovation on the inside. Nevertheless, we do not regret the visit.

An amazing place to visit if you don't think you can never get a chance to see a show in there. Beautiful architecture and the guide told and showed us many interesting things inside. Once in Sicily, you must visit a Theater where some scenes from The Godfather took place.

A one hour tour .able to choose the tour in English. We didn't have to wait to enter however there are timed tours. And it appears crowded right before the tours, so I do recommend to purchase tickets ahead. A lady was buying 12 tickets to the opera taking place 3 days ahead and she monopolized the ticket booth because she argued about not being able to pay with cash. Credit card only . They are unable to make change. Buy your tickets for the operas ahead .. with credit card. Very interesting, the lights are made by Murano glass.

If you ever visit Palermo, you should visit Teatro Massimo. My suggestion is to take a guided tour in theatre. You can see the inner parts of the theatre and admire works of architects, which designed theatre a long time ago. Really beautiful and impressive building in the centre of Palermo. My advice is to visit it during the night when it looks more impressive.

Teatro Massimo Vittorio Emanuele di Palermo, Italy's largest opera house, is a cultural gem that seamlessly blends architectural grandeur with artistic excellence. The magnificent structure, inaugurated in 1897, boasts Neoclassical and Art Nouveau elements, creating a visually stunning backdrop for a myriad of performances. The theater's rich history resonates in every corner, from its opulent interiors adorned with intricate frescoes to the grandeur of the auditorium. Attending a performance here is an immersive experience, with exceptional acoustics and a palpable sense of tradition. The diverse repertoire, spanning opera, ballet, and concerts, caters to a wide audience, ensuring there's something for everyone. Tip: Opt for a guided tour to delve into the theater's fascinating history and architecture, gaining insights into its role in Palermo's cultural tapestry. Teatro Massimo stands as a testament to Palermo's cultural vibrancy, offering not just entertainment but an opportunity to immerse oneself in the timeless beauty of the performing arts.

Wonderful architecture and acoustics! We were fortunate to watch a ballet during our staying in Palermo. We bought our tickets many months in advance and got them delivered to our home in Canada. This is an awesome experience! To be part of the audience of the biggest theatre in Italy and third largest in all Europe.

Beautiful! When you’re visiting Palermo come and take a look at this place. You can only enter via a tour. Mine was spoken in English and Spanish. The tourguide had a thick Italian accent but gave nice facts about the place. Keep in mind that it only lasts for 30 min.

I think best appreciated by a live performance which I missed by a day. However it is beautiful and worth seeing. The tour was disappointing however. The tour guide was disinterested and as she had little English questions were not sought or encouraged.

Great theatre to look at, but the tour is slightly underwhelming. For €10 a ticket, it seems slightly overpriced. Given the large number of people on the tour, it doesn't feel very intimate. Whilst it is understandable that they don't let you walk around on your own, it is a shame that you are somewhat rushed through a few rooms in the venue in only half an hour. The only area you see on the tour that you wouldn't see if you attended a show is the royal box, and the price of cheap tickets probably suggests that going to see an opera is the best way to see the venue. There are no public toilets, which is disappointing for a venue of this type.

We booked the evening tour which they do on select Fridays and Saturdays in the summer. It felt like we were given an exclusive tour because it was just us and another family. Beautiful theater...make sure to sing in the echo room ;) amazing place! Worth the 3 eur!

It's big. 3rd largest theater in Europe. Nice visiting tour. Got to see the theater and the back-stage. During the summer there are no shows. They start in September.

A beautiful smaller theater that always puts on quality performances. Ticket prices were reasonable at 20 Euros. The quality of the musicians outstanding! Highly recommend when your in this historical city with great street food and nightlife.

A good vibrant and elegant quarters of the town, it's cleaness makes you forget the town's dirty pavements and streets.

Such a historic venue, stunning interior and awe inspiring outside. Sadly it's in massive need of restoration. Damp, peeling plaster, permanently positioned scaffolding on the staircase. And the auditorium desperately needs air conditioning. Some needs to save this historic venue.
