3 floors to explore. Repeated subjects in different expressions & treatments. Some paintings were in a style like Indian mythologies, IMO. Best to visit on free entry Sunday. There was a mini backyard, unfortunately not accessible.

At 15:00 hour, there is a free guided tour. In my opinion, I rather have more time spent explaining few handpicked pieces than explaining the use of each floor of the building, or why he wanted to keep all on same spot، etc.

Beautiful museum within the house of the French symbolist painter Gustave Moreau. Many of his paintings hanging from the walls and amazing spaces. These stairs are truly a feature! Worth a visit when you are in the surroundings. No shop but they have postcards.

I went on the first Sunday of the month when it’s free, you must book in advance for this day. A beautiful building with a lovely spiral staircase. It’s not my kind of art so I don’t think I would pay to go. The first floor you see the apartment and the next two floors are dedicated to the art. Due to the old building and the amount of stairs it’s not an accessible museum. I believe all information was in french.

A lovely little museum is free on the first Sunday of the month (recommended to book in advance online so you don't have to wait when you arrive). They allow photography but not video. I love their stairs but you'll discover more interesting things there like the sketches lined up behind the curtains by the wall. P/s: Booking online in advance will also make your sightseeing easier while you travel!

What a masterpiece of artwork & architecture. Just for the spiral stairs you can visit this museum to admire. The staff were very kind and helpful. My sister was sick and they took very much care of her while I was doing a fast tour in this museum. Thank you.

Gustave Moreau's house and museum is a hidden gem in Paris. Take the time to look through his apartment and then enter his atelier and gallery. Sketches are available at viewing stations behind curtains, pull up a stool, pull back the curtains, and flick through his sketches behind his larger works. Also, your ticket gets you a 50% discount at partner museums 8 days after your purchase (of which the musée d'Orsay is one!).

Incredible museum that's tucked away on a side street. Moreau is one of the most important symbolist painters and the museum has the biggest collection of his work found anywhere. You have sketches, paintings, experiments, and his salon where he worked and entertained. Unlike other museums in Paris, this one isn't swarming with people taking selfies and the people who come here do so because they love the artist. It should be on your list of places to visit!

I fell in love with Gustave Moreau when I saw his 2 paintings at Hammer museum in LA, California. I was so excited when I found out there is Gustave Moreau Museum and I had to come for the very first day in Paris. I highly recommend this museum to anybody who loves art. What a great museum. His artworks will blow your mind! Come and check it out if I was right.

Nice and small museum where this artist lived. The collection was very nice and the temporary exhibition was very interesting however a bit crowded as it covered some of the original exhibits. Friendly staff. Tickets were not expensive and easy to get online. A must to visit in Paris, a hidden gem for sure.

This was so wonderful. I liked Moreau’s work before this but didn’t know it well; I visited because I’d seen photos of the beautiful gallery. But I ended up totally engrossed by the paintings and loved being able to see all the small decorative and unfinished details. It was stunning, quiet and well worth the price.

The charming aspect of this museum is the fact that you can visit the actual house of the painter. Unfortunately, his private appartment was closed and only the workplace could be visited. The paintings are not so accessible and it is nowardays hard to imagine that Moreau was at his time accepted as a succes full paintet while Manet want even allowed to exhibit his work...

I was honestly so surprised to see such a beautiful museum right in the middle of Paris. The house in its self was great : the stairs and authenticity made this house full of charm. The paintings displayed were so numerous and so various it makes it very interesting. I did not think it would be such a good museum, but it was. I would highly recommend, especially because it was not crowded, calm and relaxing.

Very beautiful but very disappointed to see the obnoxious white wall of the exhibit being in the way of the artworks. It took so much of the marvel and atmosphere away.. :/ Though the displays of exhibition were amazing of course, surely there was another way to have them in the room other than blocking so much of the view on the paintings on the wall.

Very interesting museum in the house and workshop of the famous painter. Two wide floors with paintings/drawings, and one floor with personal memories. Very well preserved and beautiful quiet museum.

The best place to have un insight of an unknown artist. Quite interesting museum, if you are a fan of French symbolist painting (main emphasis are the illustration of mythological figures). The building itself (an house modified as 'atelier') is relevant. You can plan max 1 hour to see the museum. Entry 7 eur.

Quite a magical place. The art was absolutely gorgeous and very interesting and the place itself quite a marvel. You first go through Moreau's home with its rather small rooms crowded with art and artefacts. Then you go up to the studio and it knocks the wind out of you by its size. Huge space with huge paintings. Such an impressive space. The works shown are in various stages of completion, some of them mere sketches, it gives the whole collection such a variety. You can almost picture the artist in his work process. I also really liked the case with his painting tools, so intimate and touching. Entry is only 7€, that is quite a bargain for the beauty inside.

While in my short stay in Paris I wanted to take the opportunity to check out smaller lesser known museums and I’m thrilled that I was able to find this space. I went on a weekend morning with a friend which was lovely because it is located nearby a gorgeous neighborhood with lots to offer. When you first walk up you’re entering Gustaves apartment adorned with his art as well as art from others, but it’s not until you go upstairs from the apartment that you really get to take in all of the amazing large pieces this artist created. The gallery space alone is amazing, the staircase is of course grand as pictured; but the art is some of the most relatable and impactful art I’ve seen maybe ever. A symbolism artist whose art still speaks to life’s lessons, challenges and theories. Getting closer into some of the pieces you will find an additional level of detail you might have not seen if you just glanced from a distance. This is a must see when in Paris!! I couldn’t recommend it more if I tried!

Wonderful little museum. When I visited, there were only about 5 people there, so I could enjoy the artworks fully.

Authentic GEM in the heart of Paris. I highly suggest to visit this great museum while going down from Sacre Coeur or Mont Martre. You will change landscapes: from a very touristy place to something that looks a bit inexplorated in Paris (almost impossible to find). Moreau musee is one of the best I have seen: sit down, look at the paintings, explore their history and enjoy this amazing piece of history.

Interesting museum. Many pictures in a fairly small space. Pictures mainly based on classical themes. Background well explained. Perfect for men that enjoy seeing attractive male shapes.

A atypical museum inside the house of Gustave Moreau. It was very pleasant to walk and see La fontaine's collection. So, amateur of French literature, it is a must visit before the end of the exposition. Only hic is that No photos are allowed.

Great museum, with good pricing, especially for students or people 18-25 years old. Reservations are recommended. The only bad thing was that the amount of people for each time slot was unregulated, and therefore the museum was overly packed without any health/covid measures in place. Otherwise, I would recommend!

An amazing museum featuring tons of artwork. It's worth visiting as you see first the humble little house and astonished by the vast exhibition salons upstairs. I will visit again.

I loved this place. The living quarters are authentic and give a nice feel of city life in the 19th century. And the studio space on the second and third floor are a joy for everyone appreciate great architecture and art.

For the tickets: If you have a monthly/yearly Mobilities or ImagineR Navigo pass, you can get a discount on your tickets but the original price being 7 euros is not that expensive. The staff is polite so they can explain any questions you may have. The museum is very pretty and the art is unique. The spiral staircase (from all the social media posts) doesn't disappoint. It's worth reading the painting descriptions that are available in the different rooms and also in different languages. There are 3 big galleries and many smaller ones so if takes about an hour or two to finish the museum.

Very disappointing that you weren't even allowed to make a picture of the beautiful stairs because of the exhibition on floor 2 and 3. And the place was so completely filled with paintings, even behind the panels of the exhibition and doors, that you couldn't even see them well enough. Disappointing experience

Moreau's home and studio has been preserved and turned into a museum and it's quite fabulous. Especially loved the upstairs studio with all his works hung salon style. NOTE: If you have mobility issues, this will not be good for you (they may have an elevator but I didn't see one). Also, I had bought a ticket online beforehand but I don't think it's necessary.

One-artist museum at his previous residence: Gustave Moreau; his works are so mysterious & fascinating that I enjoy them even though I could not understand them; made me so curious about the Symbolist movement; have a small book counter at entrance ✝️⚧🛐Battalion suggestion: provide photos of & information on where his other works are

Very interesting house-museum. The architecture of the building helps to get immersed in the atmosphere of Moreau. Not too many people, and of course amazing art. And there is something in having a museum dedicated only to one particular artist. I liked it a lot, maybe even more than Musée d'Orsay.

My five year old was bee lined and traumatised for being too close to the information written below the paintings by the lady on the top floor. Clearly, they are so bored up there looking for some attraction to keep themselves occupied...

It is a really nice small Museum that is quite often overlooked, especially if you are only staying a cup of days in Paris. I would recommend the visit. I really enjoyed it.
