We truly enjoyed the Chateau de Malmaison. Not as spectacular as some chateaux, it had a more lived in appeal for us. We could almost imagine Napoleon and Josephine living here. The rooms and furnishings give a very livable impression yet are quite impressive.

Visited the chateau in the morning, and Versailles in the afternoon. Spectacular though it was at Versailles, enjoyed the chateau better. Very peaceful surroundings and a really interesting house, with such history and some surprising rooms! The gardens are lovely for a walk too, although not on the Versailles scale! Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Spectacular Chateau de Malmaison. Part of our Viking Paris to Normandy cruise in September 2022. Absolutely beautiful. As I always suggest, please educate yourselves on the history of these sites prior to visiting to understand and enjoy / appreciate them to the fullest.

a small yet legendary chateau. a lot of history and interesting topics to encounter. the gardens outside are quite mesmerizing. best time to visit would be in May, when the roses are blooming...

Incredible experience that I am not about to forget! If you go in May beginning June, the rose gardens are still in bloom and the fragrance is out of this world! The château itself is beautiful and getting in is stepping in history! You can smell amber and wood and it is just outstanding! Well done! The visit is a good 2h and for an extra euro you can visit the gardens/park. 10/10 👌🏻

A lovely place to stop by for the first free Sunday. Not overtly crowded and doesn’t take too long to walk through. The home has English translations for each room although a large placard upon hall entry describing the general history is not translated. There is an audioguide offer for €2 but decided to pass. Good preservation throughout. Make sure to see the black swans in the small pond at the back of the house.

Ticket price 6.50€ and the audio guide is also included. It's a cozy small palace that is extremely needed reinnovations. The garden didn't keep the interest. It could be more interesting because it was a home of Napoleon l and Josephine

Although off the usual beaten path for most tourists, this museum was an absolute hidden gem and a highlight of my week in Paris. Anybody with an interest in Napoleon and Josephine should take the time to come see it. The care and attention to the history was remarkable. I felt the grounds, displays, and audioguide narration provided a much in-depth and closer feel into the Napoleonic era than I got at Les Invalides. Highly recommend anybody with an interest in Napoleonic history to visit.

Beautiful small castle. Josephine went to live when Napoleon divorced her. Now is closed. But when this quarantine finish , is one the interesting places to visit. Close to Paris

The castle is not so small as you could think of a castle in a suburban area. Important as Napoleon and Josephine were living here. And you find here one of the 5 paintings of Napoleon painteby Jaques Louis David. Aussi, les personnes qui y travaillent sont très gentils.

Chateau de Malmaison is the palace of Napoleon Bonaparte & his wife Josephine who died here at very young age. It is situated near Rueil Malmaison RER A. It's relatively on smaller scale compared to Louvre or Chateau de Vincennes or more eponymous Chateau de Versailles. However the art work & interiors you get to see are as good as any other palaces in & around Paris, especially the Chandelier, royal bed & furniture. The outer garden surrounding the museum is very beautiful where you can come for nice romantic or peaceful walk. The serene beauty of Chateau de Malmaison will have you captivated. There is a small entrance fee. You can reach this place by taking RER A to Rueil Malmaison & bus from station or bus 258 from La Defense. Totally recommended while you are in Paris.

(Translated by Google) A good time in a rural setting in the middle of the city near Paris. Entrance is not too expensive; affordable. The castle is small but a beautiful collection on the life of Joséphine de Beauharnais! The reception is very good! Few crowds as COVID. small estate of Josephine mainly and of N. Bonaparte partially. Go primarily to get an impression of the period around 1800. Interesting but not impressive. Tour was boring as it didn’t really retell the trivia of its famous inhabitants at the time as the setting might invite to do - it was more an extract of a history book.

Sehr empfehlenswert.

As a visiting American, I’m not very familiar with French history. This Chateau is an excellent representation of late 1700 to early 1800 French design. Napoleon and his first wife Josephine’s story is so interesting and it is told so well at this Chateau. The only disappointing part was the grounds and gardens which were not well maintained. No explanation was given. Not crowded, personal tour devices in many languages available and the entry/shop attendant was particularly welcoming and helpful.

Take a guided tour when possible. Many things are original, but much of the furniture is not. Take time to tour the gardens for the chance to spot a peacock.

The guided your is fantastic, but even walking through and reading the plaques is enough to fully enjoy this museum. The flowers were in bloom at the time of this review, and the smell of the roses, the colors, and the general ambience of the grounds is wonderful. There is a special treat of black swans in the rear of the gardens, and a secret tree hideaway! Come visit!

(Translated by Google) The castle was the residence of the young General Bonaparte, and later the consul Napoleon, with his first wife, Josephine. After Napoleon became emperor and repudiated her, it remained her residence, so the current museum reflects more on her, her children, her legacy. However, the general's office has been preserved, restored to its original form, absolutely impressive when you think that the strategies that amazed the world were born there and that are still studied today at military academies. A pleasant visit for history buffs.

(Translated by Google) Very pretty castle, lots of explanations on the history of Napoleon, Joséphine, you can learn a lot of things there. The garden is not very big but very beautiful too. The part with the plants named on small signs is very good to discover the species cultivated there. On the other hand, some signs would be useful to find your way around the garden, also on the distributed map, it would be useful to indicate how to get to the temple of love for example (we could not go there). There are on the map, all the species explained, the kinds of roses etc but it would be good to indicate a small route in order to find your way in the garden. It is also very poorly indicated to leave the castle. No sign, nothing indicates that you have to push the large gate to exit when no one is at the cash desk at the entrance. The staff are quite friendly, even if the person in his little cabin at the entrance could be a little more proactive, I had to take the handset of the phone myself to speak with the lady who manages the reservations, a slightly abnormal ... Besides, I had booked to visit but my response to the schedule by email was not taken into account, fortunately the lady was able to fit us on the next schedule but hey, it's missing a little serious ...

👍 Very interesting with pleasant gardens. Much focused on Napoleon. What caught my attention the most was the little dig at the governor of Saint Helena who considered Napoleon a prisoner. That's what he was in and of himself.
