This is the first plaza that you'll see when you enter the runs of Iximche. It is actually not that old of a place. It was built in the late 1300's or early 1400s. The main plaza sports some decent sized buildings, a couple of semi-restored pyramids and a few platforms. The most impressive thing about the site is that it is still used by the local Maya to make sacrifices of incents and food. That, and how well maintained it looks.

A great place to go hiking, go under the trees, rest on the grass and of course, take lots of photographs! Don't forget that you also learn about history and the ruins are a piece of history in time.

Had a wonderful time at this intimate Mayan ruins site. Cost $7 USD to visit the site and the museum. We had a connection to a local guide, Melvin. Wonderfully knowledgeable and spoke enough English to communicate very well! This made the trip for us. He studied for a few years to understand the history—not to mention he is comes from mayan descendants. He made it worthwhile! Hard to hire guides on the spot, in fact, we had a family join us along we way. WhatsApp our tour guide, Melvin: +502 3163 7818
