Cheap for a reason. We stayed in the 8 bed dormitory which had 4 toilets/showers available for use. After checking in we went to look at them, 2 of them were broken with the toilets taped up, 1 had a cockroach in the sink and the shower flooded and the last had plasterboard all over the floor. Our dormitory smelt like gone off milk and the air conditioner stopped working every 2/3h. I told the reception and they said I had to keep turning if off and back on again, this resulted in one night me getting up 5 times to reset the A/C. Pay a bit more and stay somewhere nicer.

If you’re looking for a budget hotel - TIDO is your best choice! Tight on budget - get the dorms Willing to splurge a little - get the private rooms Do note that private rooms does not come with en-suite bathroom. There’s a common area on the top floor. Good place to chill. Only thing negative was lack of parking space, and light sleepers might struggle to go to bed due to poor sound proofing.

The location is convenient, service is great and room is comfy. They have an open space in level 5. However, the hygiene in bathroom needs to be improved. Some toilet are tapped. So whenever you want to use toilet, better check and make sure toilet wasn’t tapped and toilet paper is available. By the way, I can smell urine near the toilet which had tapped. Maybe it’s on the floor mat.

We thank the reception guy who didn't accept to give us a bed after we have put the wrong day in booking, but have paid. I do not see the trouble it brings for him, after the money was sent to the hostel, to change that small mistake. And I can understand he cannot take this decision on his own maybe but he didn't try at any moment to help us find a solution apart from saying we should contact booking because he cannot do anything. We have never used the facility and he knows it since the day was set to one day earlier, so no proof of check-in. I really regret even trying to come here. They did keep our bags at the reception for the whole day though. We hesitated to pay again in Tido for the night (meaning we would have paid twice) but found a better accommodation in a better location for a lower price.

Not too bad for it's price & location. Sometimes people tend to over expect & pinpoint absolutely everything. I was overall satisfied with my stay here except for the part where my roommate switched off or increased the temp of the aircond numerous times.

Nice spacious double private rooms with a large window for a good price, helpful reception and allowed us to pay our deposit for the key the following morning after we got cash out. However: The kitchen is very minimal no stove, not even a toaster only a fridge and hot water. Hostel allows children to stay and during our final night about 16 kids checked in making our floor like a kids sleep over Sore throat from dust in the aircon which appears to not have been cleaned for ages. We both left with sore throats. Terrible WiFi - was barely able to connect during our 4 nights here Aircon turns itself off after X amount of hours and has to be left switched off at the wall for so long before it can be turned on again No housekeeping during our 4 night stay, reception also made it difficult to obtain fresh towels and dispose of bin bags so we had to find these ourselves from the utility room

This is from a solo travel on a budget. I really liked this Hostel. The beds were comfy. They have a lift. Its is really clean and the staff is nice and helpful. The location was nice. There was no hot water from showers.

Very good value for money, bed was comfortable and aircon worked nicely. Toilets were fairly spacious and showers worked fine, although I couldn't figure out how to get hot water. Would be 5 stars but the WiFi doesn't work at all when your in the rooms on the 1st floor atleast. Staff were helpful and everything was clean.

The hostel is very new and modern. Super clean spaces and rooms. The location is in walking distance from everywhere and good restaurants. The chill out space on the top floor is perfect and the WiFi was super quick. Hidden fees for Penang tax wasn't advertised very clearly and they are strict on the 15:00 check in which is fairly late. Not a social hostel if that's what you are after.

I wish I took some photos of them. They have good services, friendly staffs, clean rooms, both double and dom. But the dom, they don't have curtain for each bed, better you should prepare a big scarf or so. The toilet sometimes broken and they almost forgot my taxi reserved but still - high recommend.

Do NOT stay here!! It might have been okay before but read the recent reviews. The girls working at the reception are horrible. They don't know a thing about hospitality. Not welcoming and helpful at all! We wanted to rent a bike but the lady at the recpetion said it is not worth renting it there because it is expensive. It took is awhile to find a bike shop and ended up paying exact same price as this hotel. It just seemed like they didn't want to work, looked miserable and not willing to help the guests. The property itself is nice but had a headache with them every single day. One girl straight up gave attitude. It's okay location but there are better hostels with great location near Chulia Street. No atmosphere what so ever for backpackers. Don't waste your money at this place.

Overall, not a pleasant stay. The room I'd stayed in was a private double room but the room was located at the same level with shared room. So it was quite noisy as a group of people came back from outside and went back to their room. And the wall was quite thin, so you can hear them talking in the room next door. All rooms were sharing 4 bathroom/toilet. It was very bad because all 4 of the toilets were clogged, so you can imagine the scene of it. And mysteriously there was some miscommunication in between the staffs, my room was cancelled on the next day. But....On the up side, room was clean, bed was comfy, i had my hot shower after a sweaty walk in the city, a beautiful rooftop with nice view of the city, with simple breakfast and free drinking water provided. And it is in the middle of the city. Not sure how it is now but i sure hope they've improve! πŸ™ stayed in 13th July 2018.

Came with a late flight and reception was open (24/7) and was met by Afiyah who was super nice and helpful. I was also able to print an extra paper out for my visa run which I was super grateful for. Also realised i forgot my adaptor for the malaysian plug and they absolutely saved me by selling them for 6 ringgit. Bargin. Fresh, easy, aircon, friendly reception, big and many toilets, free drinking water. Im happy.

Nice place to stay. The staff are nice and accommodating. The free breakfast could use a little variety, but I think its good enough so I wont be docking stars.

Budget hostel with hotel concept , providing hotel standard of mattress and towel , clean area and toilet big enough to occupy many people . The lounge area is a place for good view.

This hostel is very dirty everywhere, only picture prefect! Staff was ok, but they really need to pay more attention to the maintenance and cleaning. No A/C from noon to 5, other time also no A/C unless you go down to the front desk for a remote control! :((( Location also so so, very quiet but luckily Georgetown is not big.

Beautiful hidden gem, hint from my mate, lovely hostel, with dorms and private rooms, I did have a private room, with wide big windows, air-con and amazing beds, had the best sleep! Everything proper white, bedsheets, towels bathrooms. Lovely housekeeping available everyday. English speaking receptionists. Self service breakfast on the top floor, more than you would need. Overall a very enjoyable stay in Penang! Totally recommend it! !!!πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

If you want to feel cheated on your hard earned money, this is the place to go. On Hostel World it said that tax was included in the price, but when we got here we had to pay RM12 extra, per person, per night. Plus deposit RM40. When we booked this place the price was on the higher spectrum of our tight backpacker budget as it was. Having to pay RM24 extra each night leaves a bad taste in your mouth. The dorm rooms are OK, but not as nice as in the pictures, and the same goes for the common lounge room. They take the AC-controller between 12:00-17:00 and the WiFi is really slow on the 3rd Floor, so do not expect that you will stream anything or search anything on Google.

Had a great time here. They even have movie night and weekend party. Beds are big, clean as well with their toilet. Definitely will come again.

Bed is ok. Still see dust around the bunk's fence but did not smell or feel it. Public lounge on 5th floor is quite nice. Free breakfast (bread with tee/coffe). Wifi is too bad, hardly got internet signal, almost unusable. Toilet & bathroom are not really clean when i use at 6.00pm,11.30pm and morning at 7.30am (washing tank and bathroom with hair,...) so maybe they clean once a day at noon. Some showers are old and broken, but some is still good. May need to wait a bit to use the toilet in peak hours. Air-condition in room will be managed by staff, just open after 5-6pm till morning (not sure what time it's turn off).

Budget hostel. The environment there is very nice and quite, it make me feel relax and comfortable. The room is clean and tidy, bed are comfortable. This is my second time stay in this hotel. Budget hotel. The environment there is very nice and quite, it make me feel relax and comfortable. We stay in a double room on the second floor. They asked us to take off our shoes before entering, but the floor is quite dirty. The double room is large, not really clean but tidy, bed is comfortable. They have provide two towels, two bottle water. However, the WiFi here is really slow. There are no water heater in the shared bathroom, except for the first shared bathroom on the right of the toilet sign. The hotel don't have a private car park, so we have to park our car around the hotel, and we need to put parking ticket, or you can just download "Penang Smart Parking" to make parking payment online. The receptionist told us that we can also rent a parking lot in the gas station opposite the hotel for about RM5 per day, if i not mistaken. Great location, about 20 mins walk to Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul, Komtar Tower. We also walk to Penang Street Art, Chew Jetty, Tan Jetty from our hotel. It's very quiet at night, but there are also many bars nearby in the Chulia streets. Their free breakfast only provide white bread, jam, coffee, and tea.

Very nice hostel with nice staff. Just opened 2 weeks ago which might be why it wasn't that social. But honestly one of the best hostels I've been to regarding facilities and cleanness.

Dorm bed- clean, handy table in wall with single power point. String a/C. Double room-spacious and excellent a/C. Its next to busy junction so you can hear traffic. Nothing some earplugs cant fix. The bathroom shower head holders could use some maintenance work. It gets rough use I guess. Good value for money I'd say.

Probably one of the best hostel experiences I've had thus far. The staff is extremely friendly and are very knowledgeable about the local scene. The place is kept to a high degree of cleanliness and had standards that you would expect from far more expensive hotels. Highly recommended this place to any traveler in Penang.

We booked a room for 2 people . The fist impression when I entered in that receptionist was very nice and friendly. She looked professional as well. And then when we finished checking in , we got our room which is very cosy and modernized. Everything inside room is clean as a comfortable bed, a nice shelf and sofa. There were 2 bottles of water, we thought we had to pay if using as most hotels in Vietnam. Surprisingly they are free for all. When I checked out, they were nicely checking again my room and refunded my deposit. It was amazing experience which keep me coming back next time. Thanks for Tido Hostel. Thanks for Penang .... The location was awesome and there are so many food stalls in short walking distance, there is also 24hrs convenient shop opposite the hostel. There are 4 clean bathrooms on each floor. The lounge located on 5th floor is really cozy and nice, there are also lots of board games that you can play with your friends/families.
