Very very very bad!!!! Not as satisfied as what Agoda recommended. 1. No parking 2. Bathrooms are unclean, less spacious, smelly, shared by random people and no water heater. 3. TV and hair dryer wasn't functioning. 4. Too much of noise! Loud footsteps, receptionists were loitering and chit chatting very loud in the middle of the night. 5. Broken light bulbs and poor lighting conditions. 6. Holes on the floor that allows people to see through. 7. This hostel is advisable to stay only for an emergency and not for a vacation. 8. Only one good thing is its location. Middle of the town and next to Little India.

Wasser zum Nachfüllen. Handtuch inklusive. Frühstück ist Toast. Besser als nichts. Steckdosen sind im Schließfach versteckt. Es gibt einen Adapter dafür, weil meiner zum Beispiel zu groß für dieses kleine Fach war.

Absolutely terrible rooms, dirty and noisy. There's a constant noise coming from outside (AC probably) and inside (source unknown). Definitely not recommended, even if the location is great, I left the place after 15 minutes inside. It's easier to catch a headache than have a simple nap, not mentioning full night sleep. Don't waste your time and money.

Arrived at 10PM. I messaged them a day before, that I'm still checking in late. A staff booked my bed on female dorm and they can't check me in! The men's dorm were also fully booked! They made me pay 100+ MYR more for a private room instead. It's 10PM! I have nowhere to go. They're very inconsiderate of their mistake and let customers pay for it. Was the 100+ MYR worth it? HELL NO! The internet doesn't even reach the 2nd floor! STAY AWAY! Agoda didn't post this review on their site.

We’ve felt that customers are not a priority here! Shocking especially during these difficult time for tourist industry during pandemic. And that’s why... We checked in early afternoon in the middle of the week, smooth and quick, pleasant atmosphere at the lobby with jazz background music and free caffe and tea all day! Also cold filtered water! Great help in very hot Georgetown. The room we got was pleasant with firm mattress and good working a/c. That’s about it... Huge disappointment came at the evening... woman at the reception is very grumpy and completely unhelpful, welded to her phone, walking like a zombie attached to her hand device. Completely darkness upstairs as she is not even bothered to switch on the lights on staircases or corridors... I’m not used to this kind of negligence! Unbelievable... Around 9-10 pm some “random” local guys arriving on scooters and cars...start making very loud conversation, laugh and smoking at he lobby. Clearly marked “Non Smoking” but seems like rules are not for them but for guests only! They clearly did not care... who they are? I don’t know.... but they know receptionist and feel more than comfortable to behave this way. But the worst was about to come on weekend when lobby was completely taken over by these crooks! Shouting, evil laughing, guest’s common area doesn’t exist anymore at that point and all guest have to “evacuate” to their rooms! Stinking cigarettes smoke even upstairs as dozen of these locals have their own party in the lobby! That was a big shock for us and I still cannot understand how come that could be happening in the travellers guesthouse?! I am just wondering if they are registering as the rest of the guests in the visitors book (compulsory requirement during MCO in Malaysia). What if any of them would have Covid? That situation was very uncomfortable for us! We have felt like unwanted guests, invading their space! In every hostel we had visited, common area is the friendly place to socialise with other guests/travellers. Exchange experience and ideas! Not here obviously! SUMMARY: Pros: 1. Early afternoon check in easy and smooth 2. Nice towel on arrival, hot shower available 3. Good bed for the price, free wi-fi 4. Free tea and caffe, complimentary breakfast and cold filtered water 5. Nice lobby area (only daytime) 6. Good location Cons: 1. Evening woman in reception wins price for “least helpful and most grumpy receptionist in peninsular Malaysia” 2. Local crooks (not guests) taking over the lobby and tv area at the evenings so forget about relaxing there at the end of the day unless you like loud mobile phone sounds, rudeness, shouting and access of cigarette smoke in NON SMOKING AREAS Facilities are good as you see but seems like “I don’t care” attitude took over this place. Customer is just an “unnecessary addition” but not a priority here. Just to remind all employees of the hostel that without customers there will be no Red Inn Court on the map of Georgetown very soon. Before booking the room just consider: if you are non smoker and like quiet, chill place this hostel is not for you! I was very frustrated and angry few times because of how I was treated. ...but if you sleep like a stone, don’t care about excessive noise made by some random middle age man in the building and you like the horrible smell of cigarettes just go for it! Ps. I sent a private message three weeks ago to the owner informing him what is happening and what I was exposed to. I was promised that he will look at it and take care of the issues I’ve passed to him. Didn’t happen and as I promised him I’m submitting my review... it’s up to him if he will take it seriously or not.

Neat heritage building, but no wifi on level 2. The staff are not very friendly and a bit unhappy. The plumbing has a problem and would create a loud whistling sound anytime someone went in the shower which interrupted our sleep.

This ho(s)tel provided excellent service for everyone and also has complete facilities such as bedroom with AC, bathroom, and main lobby. I like the concept of this ho(s)tel. It makes everything simple and they keep maintaining cleanliness. This hostel would be the best choice in Penang for everyone. You can choose 4 mix bedroom, 6 mix, or 2 bed if you want to be more private. Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos of the facilities.

I stayed here for a night because of a nice offer from Agoda. Well, generally, if you are the type of person who just wants a place to sleep 'n go, you might come here, but if you look for a cozy atmosphere especially at night, there are so many better choices in Georgetown :) P.S. This place is not suitable for people who have physical challenges. All the rooms are on higher levels and no lifts exist here. Enjoy your holiday!

Not very clean and it's the more noisy room I ever been too, no isolation you literary sleep in the street in front of temple who pray and ring bell at 5 a.m . Breakfast is very simple and a bit dirty. It's not included the tax so in total for private room expensive. The staff is nice and location great

#Penang #Trips - not recommended . Paid extra day(s) / one issued. One no / "point" of the CS that handling or worked here when i checked in, seems like want us to pay to her directly and not through app. Late night changing the whole booking for our next day booking. And rising the price to almost 400k . But all recorded. As, on other sites (new browsers) , the room still available! Wow. As we paid for Private room / 1 night . Late eve checking. And paid for Sharing "Room" as well (this was can't be refunded nor cancelled ofc.) Above all, got extra Support through my Indonesia's travel company , and they Helped me for hours - midnight Call, finding solution and so on. So only slept for few hours and too noisy . The staff asked too much personal thing (admitted she couldn't speak Bahasa Malay/Hokkien which is this country Native language.) so weird . tidak jujur . #analyticalskills applied. #observed #analyzed Stay Authentic Selective Collective Exchange energy wisely Kindness reign. Internet only works on ground floor, not on 1st nor 2nd floor, and they offer no solutions to fix this. TV doesn't work. Receptionist was not friendly, arrogant and not helpful at all.

I was in female dorm for three days here. The room is clean, has its own locker, quiet. The bathroom is clean, there are hair dryer and drying rack. Service staffs are friendly and enthusiastic. The price is so cheap cause I booked one month before, just 78RM for three days including the breakfast. It is located in the middle of the George Town that convenient to go to anywhere in Penang. I had a good time in here.

Everything in this hostel is good. Staff are friendly and patient. Love the heritage and vintage design of the hostel. The whole place is small and we can easily meet other travellers. Free breakfast every morning with fruits available, healthy stuff. Rooms are super comfy and toilets are clean too. I almost have nothing to complain but there is one thing I don't like is that this hostel is always full and can't book it easily most of the time! 🤣

The private room we booked (101) was spacious, had a big and comfy bed and a good working aircon. The downside are the noises - it is not isolated at all! We could see the light from the room above through the wooden floor and ofc hear every step and word. The breakfast is minimal (bread and butter), the staff also minimal friendly. The location is a plus!

This place is very terrible. Bad room condition, aircond not functioning properly, hard to find parking. Very noisy from the vehicle at the main road. Bad sound insulator. Receptionist not professional enough. Overall, its a very budget quality place with an expensive price

Lovely staff, the girl on the desk was so kind and really helped us with a couple of issues. They have spacious traditional rooms, a great location, nice decoration and clean bathrooms. There is a space for doing your own laundry including an iron and ironing board, drying racks and big sinks. The breakfast is basic but in line with what other places offer. Private rooms have desks, AC and fan. Good internet, good value for money.

During checkout, the lady was the rudest person ever, tried to teach how to do check out, because we were 5-10 minutes late, she didn't answer my greeting, she didn't smiled back, even though I was the one who was showing hospitality. I felt like she was the unhappy customer. They didn't have electricity for a couple of hours, maybe she has to consider fixing the infrastructure issues before ironing customers. Strongly not recommended.

Poorly maintained. No cleaning service in the rooms for 3 days. Saw a huge rat coming out of the kitchen inside the hostel. Breakfast is disgusting. The dorm room connects to the street, are poorly isolated and you get a lot of noice from the street since early in the morning. Mosquitos in the dorm. Huge disapointment!

Worst hotel ever. Their bathroom doesnt have heater yet in Booking.com mentioned comes with heater. Room is totally a disaster. Not clean at all. Tv is not working. The window is not properly sealed. Alot of mosquitoes. And having an unprofessional receptionist who dont know how to serve their customer/guests. We stayed one night only and its a totally not worth for the price paid. Please do not plan to stay at this RED IN COURT EVER.

Stayed here for 3nights. Had a nice stay. The location is great. Kind staff. But you still can hear people in the next room snoring. Can't complain, the best in its price I think. In fact, it's the cheapest hostel I found. There's a possibility to stay here again for my next visit.

I stayed for 3 nights, in 1x4 bunk beds... place is quite nice.. location is best... they have small locker for you, (enough for small items only) thery also have free-breatfast... (take it as a sweet add-on) all in all, very good place... i will be staying again here on my first trip.

It was a great place to sleep at for its price. The issue was the wifi connectivity didn’t work the entire 5 days even after an attempt to fix. Benefit was that they had soap and tissue to use as well as breakfast (coffee, tea, toast and fruits but mainly watermelon). Central to a lot of everything. We needed wifi for work, if it wasn’t for this we would’ve given it maybe 5 stars for the price

Good experience at there. All the basic facilities are provided. Nice location and save money. I stayed for 3 night in 2 person share room. Breakfast is toast/bread with jam, coffee and fruit (from 8-10 am). It is near to some sightseeing places, you can go to the street art, Chew Jetty and little india in Georgetown on foot.

Overall positive experience at Red Inn Court. The room is a bit small but manageable. The breakfast is nice plus, and you can easily top up with some indian street food from around the corner. The location is ideal for enjoying the Chulia night market and Love Lane bars. The staff always kind and helpful. Negative point. Our room was next to the communal toilets and unfortunately it was hard not to get bothered by the early-morning or late-night showers of other guests.

Worth it to the money. Great location, Quite cheap. Like the design of the hotel, vintage. Breakfast standard but nice, friendly staff.. but only one I can't deal with.. I got upper bed with no safety bedrail, cant imagine if I fall down while sleep.. so I can't sleep tightly, felt worry while sleeping

Affordable yet good, clean, and safe place to stay. Booked a bunkbed in a 4-bed room, room was clean. Location was great since Georgetown is managable by walking. Free basic breakfast with fruits available, free flow coffee tea and drinking water during your stay.

Nice comfortable space to stay. Unassuming and on the main road. Prices are reasonable and rooms are large and beds comfortable. Free coffee/tea for residents through the day. Very close to little India/ and almost everything else in George Town.

Very basic. Persons who are not agile won't be able to get into a top bunk. The ladder is attached to a wall and you need to very carefully manoeuvre yourself into the bunk. It is dangerous. I won't go back. Breakfast is toast and jam. Not we'll maintained. But the price is the lowest around.

Don't ever believe on those reviews. This is totally fraud and unethical hotel. The hotel is dirty, full of dust and not maintained. Attitude of the owner is worst and not willing to communicate directly with customer to come out with solutions but push everything to their foreign workers. After we found the actual of the hotel is totally different with what shown in internet, we ask to cancel and willing to pay for the first night even we only stay there for two hours, bt hotel side still insist want to charge us full (two nights).

Good place if you are planning to spend most of the time around Georgetown. Great location, very nice staff! We paid 35€ 2 nights and we were not expecting anything special. We just needed a bed, a roof and a place to take a shower (fortunately we had the private bathroom). Lots of stairs, they remind me the Netherlands. Exploring the city, I noticed that there were cheaper places that looked better, but nevermind. They provided us with towels, shampoo and gel in the shower have no labels. A/C working, which was paramount. For breakfast we had hot the and some fresh watermelon! Thank you!
