A one stop transportation hub in butterworth for ferries, buses and trains. Due to covid19 pandemic, many shops closed down either for good or temporary. I like the view from the deck that you can go just outside the 4 fingers restaurant and starbucks cafe. The scenery is so beautiful especially during sunset. Inside is well air-conditioned. The walking distance from the ferry jetty is quite far and you even have to climb stairs along the way.

Penang Sentral serves as a transit hub bridging the ferry route between Butterworth and Georgetown. On disembarking from the ferry at Butterworth, the terminal conveniently links to this complex. Opting for e-hailing services, my wife and I encountered e-hailing signage on Level 8 of the car park. A confirming word from an officer assured us of the correct location for e-hailing pickups. The air-conditioned waiting room on Level 8 was an initial encounter. However, the driver requested our presence at the Level 3 lobby for pickup. His rationale, making sense, questioned why e-hailing passengers should navigate to Level 8 for pickup. A drawback emerged on car park at Level 6A due to inadequate lighting, potentially compromising safety, particularly for women. Notably, the parking payment machines frequently malfunctioned, adding inconvenience to the experience. The mall, though bearing the name "Sentral," lacked vitality, appearing eerily empty save for the livelier atmosphere at Starbucks. Only Level 2 was considered alive with KFC, Auntie Anne’s, Tea Live and few others. The overall layout, design, and service of the mall disappointed me profoundly, arguably ranking among my least satisfying retail experiences in Malaysia. Addressing these issues, the management, MMC/MRCB, should consider a comprehensive overhaul to breathe life into this complex.

Awesome place. For budget travellers, you need to take the ferry(last [email protected]) to reach the Main Island OR you can HIRE a taxi which costs Premium.

A comfortable air conditioned building where Penang ferries depart to/ arrive from the Penang island. Seamless connection to bus terminal but a sloppy 5-10min walkway to KTM Train station for intercity trains, KTM Komuter and ETS. Housing miscellaneous restaurants, fast foods, shops etc. Last ferry from mainland Butterworth to island at 11pm. RM2 per trip.

Should be as good as it's name. There are not many shops around here especially the eateries. The staff manning the departure section are rude and not friendly. The information screen are not displaying our bus details and we were not informed that the bus was late. Scheduled departure should be 1030am but the bus came nearly at 12 noon. Lots of things need to improve. It is a waste to have a good and advance facilities but the mind and attitude are still way below. All I can say is, the toilets are clean. Saved by the toilets...

A pleasant experience. We arrived by ferry from Penang Island. And returning to KL via train. Signboards are clear, you will know where to go. Toilets are clean. Not many shops are opened, so we waited in Tealive. Train arrived on time too. The train is clean and comfortable, except when there are crying and naughty children on board.

This modern facility seamlessly combines three major modes of transportation: buses, trains, and ferries. Despite its compact size, it should still efficiently manage the flow of passengers traveling to and from the island and mainland.

The bus station is a good system. Spacious, clean, can be used to stop and pick up passengers. It doesn't take long to continue the journey. Good. I like it.

I had over an hour to wait between the ferry and train, and this little β€œmall” in the transit station is pleasantly simple and convenient. There are storage lockers (none on the Georgetown side!), bathrooms, casual seating areas, plus restaurants and stores. I liked the Boost juice place with whey protein shakes to tide you over before a real Penang meal, and the Guardian pharmacy is nice for anything you may need to pick up while travelling. There is even a local dried snack stall for train snacks. It is clean and was not busy the two times I was there. Make sure you go to the upstairs level, because it has an observation area and natural lighting. Don’t get me wrong - the place truly isn’t much, but it’s not bad for killing a bit of time.

Many of the restaurants did not survive covid shutdown, including an entire food court, so it seems a bit desolate. But the rapid penang city busses, coach busses and trains are still running ok. The ferry no longer does cars i dont think, and they run less frequently. But rapidPenang has a new CTxxx lines that run from Queensbay Mall to some area in Penang (mainland). You must then transfer to get to Komtar/Penang Sentral respectively.

If you travelling by train, exit the Butterworth train station and follow the Bus Stand sign. This will get you to the pier for the boat to Penang Island. It is walking distance. The toilets at the train station cost RM0.30. The toilets at the Penang Sentral cost nothing but the toilet for guys always ran out of papers so, get spare papers at Guardian store if you are making a long call. Overall, the station has easy access to the train station, the pier and the bus terminal.

Why do grab passenger need to go to level 8 to ride a grab? It's so damn dark and quiet. What if someone get robbed there? Especially when the bus arrived at night? Other than that is nice.

It's a nice place for you to take busses from here. There's a surau, food court and other shops as well. It also connects to the train station and you can take ferry from there to the island.

Nice hub, lot of restaurants (mamak food at Iqbal's, Starbucks, Tealive), airport like, 4 levels, they have taxi services, mainly buses services to anywhere around malaysia peninsula. Nice view also on the 3rd level, you can see the ocean with lots of ports. Grab a cup and enjoy the scenery, it was tranquil during covid times. I imagine it gets busier if not for covid

Taking Bus from KL Central to Penang Central. There's a waiting room with air cond when u take lift to level 8 for GRAB pick up and drop off point(just right in front of the lift). Quite convenient. But when you need to drive out you must go to level 7 for the exit.

Upon the ferry reaching the mainland, u have 2 options to go to Penang Sentral - lift or stairs. I'm taking the bus so I directly go and redeem my tickets at Bus Ticketing Counter - they charge RM1 per print. There are ample chairs and shops provided for passengers to sit and wait. Overall it's very convenient place for travellers .

I went to Penang Sentral to experience speed boat ride to island. But I found that a lot of shops were closed permanently! 😒 I think Mr. DIY also no more operate there as I can't access to the 4th floor anymore. But the environment there is still cozy πŸ‘ The Speedboat schedule is punctual too πŸ‘πŸ‘

A convenient place for taking busses, ferry and train. Overall environment is clean and some spots can enjoy free WiFi. If there are more shops available and with family friendly kids playground, it definitely will get 5 stars.

TheButterworth bus station does not properly manage the company's bus schedules, our bus billion express 27-star executive was supposed to be at 09:15AM ., However, I was told the bus was delayed until 12:00PM When I got on my bus, I was shocked that others had taken my seat number. When I complained to the bus driver, he was upset and impolite with me and refused to cooperate. then I asked for help from the people in charge of the Butterworth bus station , they also refused to sort my problem, In the end, an officer went to the bus and complained to the drivers. Your bus company always used to be late and at last combine all other schedules in a bus. And he walked out without saying anything to me. I was forced to sit down at the end of the bus seat, besides the driver blamed for the online ticket company is responsible for issuing the tickets.

Penang Sentral is the main transportation hub for Penang State as well as the northern area of Peninsular Malaysia. It is also a nice place to hang out where you can get a spectacular view of the sunset while watching the ferries arriving and departing from the terminal. The terminal is located in Butterworth, Seberang Perai and it connects the passengers from the train, ferry and bus services to ease the journey for the travellers.
