Experience summary : not at all satisfactory, main reason being sheer fish fry was not at all fresh and it was hard to bite, won't visit this place again or will not recommend to friends. Location : habulla road, near karnataka sanga school. A yellow themed south Indian chettinad cuisine, with attractive mouth watering pictures all over. My dining experience: The moment when I went inside and took a chair, the table was wet with stagnating water, so I requested to clean it, because when we have the habit of resting our hands over the table or when u keep ur mobile or vehicle key it gets wet, this gives a disgusting feel. I was late for lunch around 3.30, I ordered prawn biriyani and prawn masala, after taking the order they returned back in few minutes saying that the menu was not available, I wish they should been aware before taking the order. So this left us in disappointed stage, had been said while taking the order I could have changed the mind ( this feel will be understood well when you are damn hungry and u have some particular dish to hunt), but this I don't feel as something wrong and I am saying this as they can improve on this. We finally ordered 2 chicken biriyani and 1 sheer fish fry, they got sheer fish fry first, I expected to bring all together. The time gap between fish fry and biriyani was 10min and we had to eat fish first and wait for biriyani for quite a long time, so we were like πŸ˜πŸ˜’πŸ˜Ά. Sheer fish πŸ πŸ‹πŸŸ: We ordered special sheer fish fry worth 145 bucks, the moment we had the bite it smelled like dry fish ( this is very bad) and it was very hard to bite. I very well understood that the fish was not fresh and tender, felt so bad for ordering it. Waste of 145 bucks. Chicken biriyani: I wonder why it took quite a long time to get it delivered, the warmth in biriyani dint make any justification for my assumption of briyani being prepared just some time back. Gravy for biriyani was ok, egg wasnt there ( but I don't know if they give egg by default) , chicken piece was ok. Overall when getting out from this place, my experience with this place was not with a happy satisfactory feel.

Retro themed restaurant. The ambiance is good. Salna pongal, Salna idly are my favorites but they dont have most items on menu. Most items are cold like its prepared hours ago. Even dosa is cold. There are times when we came back without even entering as nothing is available.

Disappointed. While the order for the biryani were delivered, the order for fish and prawns we're forgotten multiple times. We kept prompting the waiter and he would promise immediate action but it simply never came. The biryani was average and for dessert we had coconut cake which was good. Overall pretty chaotic and service needs to improve dramatically if they need repeat customers.

Food is amazing. Bright colour theme. Upper floor is designed as a old restaurant and its very beautiful. Most of the food items have authentic Tamil flavour. Washrooms are clean but in the 1st floor only. No lifts so hard for elders and disable persons.

Good place to try out authentic food of Tamilnadu.. Mutton varieties are lip smacking to the core.. Biriyanis are okish type need an improvement in this.. Prices are reasonable and service people are friendly and polite.. Many items are in the menu are not available most of the time. Hope management take a note of it and come with a proper arrangement on that. Should have given 5 ratings but due to many food that I wanted try are not available so giving them for 4 stars for making me disappointed. Well done service people keep up the good work..

Styled in retro Madras theme, this hotel serves proper south Tamilnadu cuisine. The taste was good, the service can be improved. We had to remind them to get extra saulna twice and there was no one in the hotel. Can't imagine how they will serve when the hotel is brimming to it's capacity. Parking available for both two and four wheelers. Limited capacity though (3 cars and some 10 two wheelers max) The 1960s ambience, old Madras Photos and a decent price gives this place some brownie points.

Ambience is too good. It feels a lot better inside even if it's scorching hot outside. Snacks and drinks are items not to miss. Paneer soda tastes the best! Quantity served can be increased.

The exterior and interior of the restaurant looks like classic mid 70 era building as we enter we were invited with fresh smell of spicy food. Every spot of the restaurant is set to 70s right from the furniture to food. Food was really good authentic south tamil nadu food.

A great place to hang out and have dinner amongst friends. The restaurant ambience is really good and has a rustic and homely vibe to it. The food tastes very authentic and I believe the food reflects the name of the restaurant. The pricing is a bit on the higher side (given the quantity) but it isn't too expensive. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone who would like to have a quick meal alone or hang out in groups as there is plenty of space for everyone.

Thambi Vilas has wide range of menu yummy lip smacking dosas, idlis and uttapams served with authentic South Indian style of chicken and mutton gravys. Some of the clear winners were mutton saalna idly same is available in chicken. The mutton saalna Idli was my all time favourite. We had their mutton biriyani which was amazing and it was well presented as well. Their interiors takes us back to 90’s and the workers are dressed up in that way. A must go place! Food : 4.5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Service : 4/5

First of all, I would say one of very few wonderful restuarant which reminds you old days. You get to see many vintage things over here. Coming to dishes, they were just so yummy, and excellent service too. My favourite is Nalli Roast and Paneer Goli soda, those are jus awesome. Near entrance you get to see lots of our childhood sweets like Thean mittai, peppermint, burffy, etc., also you can get different variety of beeda. Overall, just awesome authentic south indian restuarant with wonderful vintage feel!!!

The food At this place tastes like home made and the service offered by the waiters were good once and for some particular reason it has dulled over time. It's hard to find a spot to get seated if you are visiting this place for lunch during weekends. Pricing and ambiance are too good atleast according to me. Dishes you need to try there are their thambi Vilas chicken 65, elaneer payasam, Mutton saalna idli and these will not disappoint you for sure. The parking space can hold 4 to 5 cars at a maximum which is in front of the hotel. If the service and wait time can be improved then I am sure that this place will be much more crowded.

Although the Ambience & Service was top Notch, my afternoon lunch wasn't much satisfactory! Every dish including Biriyani was literally soaked in oil, prawn not deveined, mutton chukka had extremely chewy pieces of mutton! Thambi vilas has been my entire family's favourite restaurant but was very disappointen during my recent visit.

The menu here is more realistic for everyone to visit this outlet as a habit to indulge and enjoy the food with unconditional love. Tastes are ok...customer service again is bad....they don't look the customer whether we would like to order again.. they don't approach customers unless u clap them or call out them

This place has totally lost its charms. We ordered for chicken pepepper fry and mutton fry. Both of them were too much sauted in pepper, to the extent of being unconsumable. Brain fry was okish. Elaneer paayasam was the same. I had rated this place 4 stars long back, sad to see the degradation.
