The
warden
only
allowed
boys
who
did
a
good
deed
that
day
to
eat
supper
in
the
hostel
dining
room.
During
their
induction
she
taught
them
what
were
considered
good
deeds
-
running
an
errand
for
someone,
helping
an
old
lady
cross
the
road,
teaching
other
students
things
they
don't
understand
and
the
like
are
examples
of
good
deeds
and
should
be
rewarded,
she
explained.
The
young
boys
would
line
up
at
the
door
of
the
cafeteria
each
evening
and
she
would
ask
"So,
what
good
deed
did
you
do
today?"
to
which
the
boys
would
respond.
She
would
then
deem
whether
the
deed
was
good
enough
to
let
the
boys
into
the
cafeteria.
They
needed
to
get
a
good
deed
done
that
day,
though,
or,
sadly,
they
wouldn't
be
let
in.
One
evening
she
asked
Timmy
that
question,
when
it
was
his
turn
in
the
line
-
"So,
what
good
deed
did
you
do
today?"
"I
helped
an
old
lady
cross
the
road."
"Very
good,
Timmy!
Enjoy
you
meal,
young
lad,"
she
replied,
as
she
ruffled
his
hair.
"And
what
about
you,
Tommy.
What
good
deed
have
you
this
day
done?"
"I
also
helped
an
old
lady
cross
the
road."
"Oh!
Was
it
the
same
lady
Timmy
helped?"
"Yes,
Ma'am."
"Oh,
alright.
Very
well
then,
you
may
enter,"
she
said,
suspiciously,
as
she
held
the
door
open
for
him.
She
decided
to
give
the
pair
the
benefit
of
the
doubt.
They
did
do
a
good
deed,
after
all,
and
the
lady
must
have
needed
help
with
her
things.
"Hello
Lennard,
and
what
about
you.
What
good
deed
have
you
done?"
"I
also
helped
an
old
lady
cross
the
road."
"Really?
Was
this
the
same
lady
Timmy
and
Tommy
helped?"
"Yes,
Ma'am."
"Care
to
explain
why
THREE
of
you
needed
to
help
an
old
lady
cross
the
road?"
"Because
she
was
fighting."
"Why
was
she
fighting,
Lennard!?"
"Because
she
didn't
wanna
cross
the
road,
Ma'am!!"
