Tikal is awesome! Monkeys, coati, lizards, and tons and tons of tourists. But you can always find empty spots away form the major temples. There are a bunch of places to get water (or beer) and some snacks. But I recommend bringing in whatever you can fit into a small bag. Also, definitely wear very comfortable shoes, as you will be walking at least 2-3 miles in the jungle (on well-manicured, wide trails).

It is truly awe inspiring to see all the incredible biodiversity. It made me realize once again how big the world is compared to the tiny corner that I inhabit.

There are not words to express the wonder of everything in the biosphere. The tikal ruins are something extraordinary in themselves. The energy is palpable. The flora and fauna are incredible. 100yr plants in bloom, coatl mundi, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, and lizards abound everywhere. Go. Go now. Visit. Support. Do.

Tikal was beautiful even in the rain. Park itself costs 150Q to get in.

Had an amazing time here, come prepare with good hiking shoes, plenty of water and mosquito repellent. I spent the whole day there, when up la ruina del tigre with a book on hand, up there while watching the sunrise in the morning with the beautiful view of the entire jungle, having the animal noises as a background nature classical music i read some of the book pages. of which i remember the most is the feeling of wonder. afterwards i went for a 4hrs run deep into the forest on one of the many long paths that would take you days of walking and camping to get to a destination other than the majestic jungle, i felt like i was in a different timeline being surrounded by nothing other than nature and its beautiful music. I also got to enjoy a few friendly conversations with the locals who live in a village in the middle of the jungle. They are part of a village that has live there for generations. One of who told me a story of how he does tour guides of days of comping and walking through that same pathways through the jungle with animals to carry the load or simply the people carrying the loads themselves. After returning back i ate at one of the restaurants where i waited for my food on a hammock relaxing after such a wonderfully magical experience. It is a memory to cherish of a day full of wonder and magic.
