Wonderful neighbourhood hike. There’s a few trails that vary in difficulty and length. I’ve done a couple of them and enjoyed them all. What I like the most about this forest is how well it’s kept and how it’s a tiny oasis of nature in the middle of our concrete jungle. In terms of view, the view at the peak/certain points is pretty. However like most hikes in Malaysia, most of the the hike is in the forest itself, surrounded by trees. I always quite liked bugs and plants so I’m quite happy about that. Notes: - Arrive early (as with any hike). If you leave early enough you can find a nice spot at the top and have a picnic. Just make sure you don’t leave any trash or feed any thing you see - Do not park by the lake. Please be considerate and park in designated parking areas even though it’s a walk away.

The forest trails of Kota Damansara forest are our pride and joy. They have been carefully designed and painstakingly constructed over many years by volunteers and Temuan Orang Asli in close consultation with the Selangor Forestry Department. So far, a total of 14 km of trails have been constructed in phases beginning with the Petaling Trail and Scouts Trail, followed by the Temuan Trail, Harmoni Trail, Sahabat Trail, and the Unity Trail which joined the access trails from the Section 9 forest entrance to the trails from Section 10. In 2017, the Serenity Trail and Salleh Trail were added to the network. The abovementioned trails are all built according to International Mountain Biking Association standards. The 3.5 km hiking loop (the Unity Peak and Denai Tiga Puteri trails) allows visitors to enjoy a panoramic view from the highest part of the Forest Reserve. All the KDCF Trails are multiple-use trails suitable for mountain bikers as well as hikers. There are wooden hand-carved signs by Temuan craftsmen along the trails to help assure you that you are on the right track. Petaling Trail – This is a walking trail originally built for environmental education by Malaysian Nature Society. It circles the lake and is suitable for children and all fitness levels. This is an easy walk of 25 mins. The coded boards along the trail and provide a link to an environmental education information which can be downloaded here. Scouts’ Trail – This is an easy walk of 30–45 mins depending on your pace. It is suitable for first-time visitors to the forest, and those that do not have time for a longer walk. Temuan Trail – This is an additional 2 km loop from the Scouts’ Trail. Add this to the Scouts’ Trail walk for a combined 4 km or a hike of 60–80 mins depending on your level of fitness. There is a picnic stop with benches mid-way along this trail. Sahabat Trail –  This is an additional 2 km loop stacked on top of the Temuan Trail (for a total 6 km). This is a single trail which leads to a small loop and you need to return to the Temuan trail the same way that you came in. A full 6 km walk takes 90–120 mins. Unity Trail – This 2 km trail strategically links the entire trail network by joining the Harmoni Trail and the Sahabat Trail. It is now possible to trek from Section 10 to Section 9 under the forest canopy. Harmoni Trail – This is the first trail leading from Section 9, off Jalan Rimba Riang 9/1. It is 2 km long and extends straight to the meeting point with the Unity trail. Close to the end of the Harmoni Trail there is a wakaf rest stop and picnic benches.

Hiking at Kota Damansara is recommended for beginners. The popular trail here is hiking towards Denai Puteri Peak. Estimated time for a complete loop is less than 2 hours (up and down). It is a must to purchase the hiking permit at the entrance before any hike & also to register yourself. Parking is quite scarce, so make sure to go early. All in all, definitely worth a visit !

Entrance fees rm2. You can come as early at 7am. There is a toilet at the entrance. Actually there are 2 entrances, one from Section 9 and another one is Section 10. This location is at Section 10. Nice trail suitable for beginners. There is a green lake, some small streams and many types of trees here. Just went there and did my 11km tracking yesterday.

Nicely forested cover for hiking or casual walk even on a hot day. The cover provides a refreshing effect on the body. No mosquitoes to disturb you. Provide different trails for different levels. Last 500m to the peak could be punishing to beginners.

Very nice hike by a well maintained community with a nice route. There’s a limit of 300 pax entry with a RM 2 entrance. Route is easy, smooth all the way with little to non elevation till the last 100m towards the peak. Path is shaded along the way so no worries if you decide to hike later after 10am.

Small forest reserve but fairly well maintained. Paths are clearly marked. This is actually a good place for a simple hike. Only problem is that any place that is free or does not cost much money in Malaysia are extremely crowded. Forget about coming here on weekends and public holidays unless you reach here before 7am. Although there is a long stretch of road to park but the sheer number of people means you will not find a parking space. During the pandemic situation, you need to register and have temperature checked. Expect a queue of more than 100 people if you reach at 8am. Cannot blame the crowds because around Klang Valley there are very few parks. Politicians prefer to turn parks and forest reserves to condominiums in the name of "development". Not sure if the country is actually developing or some peoples' bank accounts are developing.

Once I reached the peak of this mountain, Karen looked at me and asked if I wanted a banana. I was really hungry because we skipped breakfast and lunch just to get up this mountain. I only took one banana that day and it made all the difference. If gave me the energy and confidence to tread through the forest with ease. It felt like I was a hunter on a prowl for dinner. Unfortunately, after a quarter of the way through towards the end, my bowels started acting up. It was as though the energetic banana has been spent and now wants to be expelled from my body. Alas, I couldn’t answer natures call then. Not when I was deep in the forest. My body was aching to excrete though. I wanted to go! I needed to go! I rushed my way through the forest. At times I creeped behind some trekkers silently. I felt as though they could feel me sometimes. They could sense that my bowels were about to burst. I caught a glimpse of their gaze as I tried to communicate with them through telepathy that I needed to poop so bad. Fortunately they gave me way, I was grateful. The journey felt long, I nearly got lost with my friends as we were figuring out which way was correct. Sometimes I had to follow my gut’s feeling and walk the path confidently in order to excrete the banana in a safe location. Towards the exit, I could hear laughter. As though there’s a group of people at the exit. Indeed their was. I rushed myself out. Seeking the opportunity to use the restroom. Fortunately there wasn’t a queue for it and I was lucky I got to use the door that could be locked! Overall, I enjoyed my adventure and will take note to not eat before and during a hike. Only to eat once I know there is a safe place to answer natures call.

Kota Damansara Community Forest Reserve offers a serene escape for nature enthusiasts seeking to hike and explore Malaysia's forests. Despite its popularity among urbanites, the tranquil ambiance remains intact. As a protected area, the entrance fee ensures its preservation. While generally clean, some inexperienced trekkers may inadvertently contribute to littering. Nonetheless, the lush surroundings and well-maintained trails make it a great destination for outdoor adventures. Whether for a leisurely stroll or a challenging hike, the reserve provides a refreshing retreat into nature.

This is my favourite spot to take a rest during my cycling trip. The lake is quiet and serene. The sunrise here is beautiful. Occasionally you will be greeted with families of monkeys (young and old), just ignore them and observe them. Do not provoke them. Just one thing, too many litter bugs here. People will just leave their rubbish behind and make this beautiful place a rubbish dump. Hope the authority do something about it.

Trails are well taken care of and plenty of signs to keep anyone from getting lost. There is an entrance fee now of RM2.00 which to me is very reasonable to help keep the forest reserve maintained as well as the trails.

Tried another hiking location at Damansara. The hike is fairly easy, signs are vastly available and route is not difficult. The scenary at peak overseeing NKVE is truly astonishing. There are various route which you can dig thru online, but the route we took was 3h whole trip.

This hike was very interesting and fun. There is an entrance fee of RM2 per person and would need to register before hike. There are alot of monkeys around. As for parking, it is very limited and you have to park on the roadside. There isn't any designated parking space. The forest is open for hike at 7am on Saturday. This forest is well maintained and pretty straightforward to hike. For a newbie like me, it took about 2 hours to hike up and down . In total of 4 hours. Pretty exhausted when I was hiking down. I would like to hike again here. Hope mu review helps to smooth planning ur hike.

Nice Park. A group of volunteers take the initiative to pick up the trash left by irresponsible people. Anyone can join the volunteers on Saturdays 5pm to 7pm. Lots of trash along the long stretch of road. Some visitors even blatantly ignore the signs that say not to feed the wildlife. The signs are there for a reason ya. Leave the wildlife alone. This is not a petting zoo.

Better go early if you wanna explore different trails. Location Have to take grab or by car. The nerest MRT station is Damansara or Surin. Entrance fee: $2/person Once walk into the entrance, the guard will give you the ticket and a pass to return when you finish. Also you have to sign in the time you enter. There is a toilet right next to the entry point. There are some signs on the way, but first timer can go straight and follow the sign, don’t make any turns. This will lead you to the way to the peak. The first junction you will see a sign of Scout Trail, next will be Serenity Trail. The final junction before the last part of the peak, you will come to a point which has a sign pointing to Unity Trail, keep going to the Unity Trail, you should be able to reach the peak. If you are not going to Serenity Trail, you could also see the view outside the park. Be careful to come here after heavy rain, the trail is slippery and muddy. The trails are fully covered by the trees, not much expose to the sun.

Good for beginners who don't like slope. 1.5 hours one way with 1 hour casual walk + 0.5 hour slope (around peak). Total 3 hours hike without counting chilling on top of the peak. Scene are great, a lot people, trail not very clean, can picnic on peak. Need buy ticket. Milo ice from the entrance taste very good. Don't park your car beside the lake.

Went for hiking and it was a very good experience! The trail is a very interesting yet challenging as you can hiking within the bustling city. When you reach the peak, all the hardships will be well paid and really worth it. Recommended for the first timer. Totally enjoyed the green scenery and of course the beautiful view.

Nice place for a good walk. Trails are plentiful and well maintained. Except for the last part of the unity trail going up to the peak which is a little bit steep and needs to keep small children under constant eyesight, the rest of the trails are mostly flat with only minor gradients. Some really beautiful old trees along the way. As there are many different access trails to the unity peak one doesn't really feel crowded even on a beautiful weekend morning. Parking space along the access road to the entrance is plentiful if you come early. The place is safe well kept and nice. Unfortunately like everywhere in this country the entrance to the place looks more like the entrance to a garbage disposal area. I guess it truly reflects unfortunately the relationship of people here with nature

Pretty interesting hiking trail with a lake, stream, small waterfall etc to see. Pretty kids friendly, there is a pondok at entrance for gathering next to a nice field which is good for picnic. Entire hike trail loop will take an hour or so, difficulty is ok.

They have an operating hours till 3pm. Was told that on the weekend there are around 300 over people that goes hiking there. A RM2 entry is required and a card will be given to you. When you leave, drop the card off at the entry point. The trail was really easy at first. Nice well maintained. It was all easy peasy till we come to the last leg to get to the peak. It gets a little steep. Well, you are climbing a hill. At the peak was the view of the NKVE and Bukit Lanjan on the opposite side. Since we came pretty late, we didn't spend much time exploring the rest of the trail. It is definitely good for all.

The trail is beginner-friendly, offering a pleasant experience for those new to hiking. Along the way, you'll encounter a picturesque green lake, meandering streams, and a diverse range of trees. The entrance fee is RM2, and the reserve welcomes visitors as early as 7 am. Conveniently, there are restrooms at the entrance.

The distance to the peak (Denai Tiga Puteri) is quite long and you will especially feel it on the way down, tired, thirsty and hungry "bila nak habis ni ehh tak habis lagi". There are a few trails within the forest, the one to the peak being the longest. The forest has very minimal human intervention. Unlike other family-friendly trails I've been to where stairs and man-made structures are abundant, there are no stairs at all in this trail, no handrails anywhere too, and no problem at all because the elevation is slow and steady, except near the peak where it got harder. There are a few obstacles here and there too like huge trees obstructing the trail and slopes - which made this trail and forest so fun! There are also signs with tree names, most of which shows beautiful scientific names of those trees with its funny, simple and catchy counterpart in Malay.

My first time ever going to an activity like this. Took me almost two hours to arrive at the peak. For a first timer it’s an easy hike they said. But I weigh 110kgs & not an active person. But I feel very satisfied with all the sweat and this motivates me to go hiking regularly after this.

I’m not a hiking person, but enjoyed the 4-hour jungle tracking with balance trail walk, climbing and hiking. Scenic view of Puncak Tiga Puteri awaits those who conquered the hilltop. Entrance fees of Rm2 (adult) and Rm1 (kid). Make sure you bring along and wear proper gear - hiking shoes, water, small towel, hiking pole (optional). Trail can be slippery during/after rainy day. Although many people/bloggers said this is Family friendly, you may want to reconsider bringing along kids below 10yrs old unless they are truly fit for jungle trekking. There are obstacles needing for rope climbing and please give extra care of them for safety purposes. Open from 7am-3pm Overall duration ranges from 3-4 hours back and forth.

I like this place as it offers more than one route with different hike duration. It caters for hikers of all levels. Upon arrival, there is a registration desk section where they take your name and number. In exchange, you are given a number tag throughout your hike. Once you've completed your hike, the tag needs to be returned to them to cross your name off the list. This system made me feel safe knowing that there will be someone looking out for me if anything were to happen.

It was great experience for beginner hiker. This is my first time hiking and the hill is not way too steep. The direction of the park is a little bit confusing though, might want to make sure that you're on the right path or you might ended up going on longer route to reach the peak.
