Restoran Kampung Muar serves authentic and very reasonable priced Malay fare from Johor. You can get favorites like Laksa Johor, Mee Bandung, Mee Rebus, Mee Soto and Lempeng. I've been looking for a good Laksa Johor place for a long time and I'm glad to have discovered this place. It is very authentic and even comes with sweet picked radish or choy poh. They also serve pretty good nasi briyani with ayam masak merah, beef rendang and other dishes. I've only tried the ayam masak merah so far and it is cooked just right. The flesh is tender and moist.

Met a friend and family for breakfast. Had a long list of food available at the hour; nasi lemak, mee rebus, mee bandung, laksa johor. Nasi lemak with fried chicken was good, sambal not too spicy was the comment from the kids. The mee rebus was different from asyik's but still packed a herby punch. The mee bandung was prawny, spicylicious to the last drop. Laksa johor was authentic. Uncle owner came round to see if we were fed well - very kind man. He also recommended we visit again after 11a.m. to sample the beriyani daging and other local rice delicacies. Will most definitely sir! I kept my word and i did to sample the mutton beiyani. Healthy chunks of meat bathed in spices but a tad sweet. A great must try restaurant!

This restaurant specializes in cuisine from Johor such as Johor Laksa, but they also carry other favorites such as Mee Rebus, Mee Soto and Nai Biryani. There are many other items in the menu but this is what I remember as this is what we ordered. The Laksa Johir was excellent as my mom slurped down the soup down to the last drop (and she has a habit of rejecting half of whatever we give her all the time!) I had Mee Soto and the soup was flavorful and had generous amounts of shredded chicken.

We came to order some food to go for my wife's teacher, who was accompanying us. Teacher insisted on getting her food here, as she had tried it a few times before, and she also originally came from Muar, so there is nothing like your own hometown food to keep your spirits high... After we came back from Cheras, my wife decided to come back here for our lunch. As usual, I would just go along with her choices. So, she ordered the Mee Rebus Muar, which she tended to like very much, while I asked for the Chicken Biryani, which tasted just fine for me, but they served me with a huge portion of rice, but with only the chicken drumstick with it. I would have assumed that the order should come with the whole chicken leg, but that was NOT the case here. As a result, I had left the extra portion of rice to waste, which is something I hated to do...

Mee bandung, laksa johor & briyani daging was amazing!!! Definitely will be our monthly routine, Kudos to Chef & team 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

02 October, 2023: I'm not familiar with Johor cuisine but, from the perspective of taste-experience, the Johor Laksa and chicken was delicious. My palate liked the taste. Service was exceptionally courteous, friendly and warm.

Head here for authentic johore laksa. The gravy is thick minus that fishy smell cos this place uses ikan tenggeri instead of ikan kambong. I love the toppings - raw taugeh, long beans, bombay onions, timun & ‘chai poh’. But what is sadly missing for me is the duan basil/katumbar jawa (BYO?😛).

Order their Mee Rebus for lunch. The price is expensive for Mee Rebus with no beef or chicken, RM 9. The taste is just okay for me. The food taste can be improved. Will not repeat their Mee Rebus. Their service is good. Staff is so attentive.
