That
Saturday
morning
during
my
usual
3-hours
free
time,
I
wanted
to
head
to
Foremula
in
Ara
Damansara
for
coffee.
But
I
noticed
another
coffee
specialist
place
on
the
opposite
row
of
my
initial
destination.
Ken
had
just
opened
his
cafe
when
we
suddenly
walked
in.
A
bit
surprised
but
still
welcome
us
with
a
smile
and
asked
us
to
make
ourselves
at
home
while
he
got
everything
ready.
As
he
prepared
our
order
-
only
V60
a.k.a
pour
over
coffee
available
here,
nothing
else
-
I
started
to
chat
him
up.
He
was
a
pharmaceutical
practitioner
graduated
from
Taiwan
who
came
back
during
the
pandemic
and
decided
that
brewing
coffee
was
more
of
his
passion.
He
shared
half
of
the
shop
with
a
printing
company
(owned
by
his
friend)
and
slowly
gaining
a
steady
clientele
list.
Roasting
his
own
beans
in
small
batches
to
ensure
freshness
in
each
&
every
cup,
I
also
love
the
fact
that
he
took
out
a
tray
containing
few
cups
with
interesting
"cup
art"
to
choose
for
our
coffee.
Feeling
majestic,
I
took
a
yellow
cup
with
dragon
motives
which
looked
like
the
one
that
Chinese
emperor
would
use
for
his
tea.
Ken
provided
us
with
a
piece
of
paper
to
write
our
tasting
notes
on
our
coffee
at
different
temperatures;
as
well
as
a
pie
chart
with
Taster's
Flavour
Wheel
-
interesting!
My
choice
of
Ethiopian
Sidamo
Bensa
Daye
G1
was
fruity
just
the
way
I
liked
it,
while
her
Guatemalan
Hue-Hue
Tenango
SHB
had
this
cherry
and
chocolate
flavour
that
was
enhanced
further
with
a
piece
of
cranberry
cookie.
Notes:
1)
no
food
is
available.
Only
coffee.
2)
only
V60
(pour
over)
coffee
will
be
served.
I
asked
on
whether
he
serves
milk-based
coffee
and
that
was
when
he
pointed
me
to
his
other
venture
nearby.
This
will
be
the
next
post.
