An institution for Indian food in PJ. This humble restaurant has grown into a supermarket, a food store and more, while still maintaining the original restaurant that started it all many years ago. Parking is always an issue here, but fret not, the two side roads have parking bays available as well, if you're lucky. The food here encompasses the gamut of South Indisn cuisine, with it's dizzying array of curries, meats and also sweet desserts and cookies as well. I've always maintained that if you see older folks eating at a restaurant by themselves or with their husband or wives without their kids, the place is probably good, as older folk have more experienced taste buds. Prices here have always been very reasonable, and you can drop in and have a small snack or even a full meal, with services that truly makes you dizzy as the waiters zoom around the restaurant. There is a private room in the restaurant as well which is great for private functions up to about 20 to 30 persons. When you're there, one of the things I've always loved to do is look at the kitchen and the waiters crowding around the glass window, shouting orders to the cooks and the cooks responding as well. Seems chaotic, but it's all in the name of fast and efficient service. A worthwhile place to visit if you've never been before. And if you have, it's always good to know that Lotus will still be there for you.

Fantastic banana leaf to be had here. Fried fish was super fresh which really impressed. Curries tasted great with just the right amount of spice. You also get a nice and clean atmosphere here with air condition. Prices are well reasonable.

Enjoyed thosai. Masala chai a bit too sweet. It's an establishment in KL. So successful in fact that they've branched into other businesses outside of F&B.

Founded in 1987, Lotus Family restaurant has grown from strength to strength starting with f&b and now venturing into different businesses like, hotel, hotels and resorts, plantation, movies and cinemas, convenience stores, healthcare, real estate, construction, technology and security. Cutting across a wide variety of sectors. Lotus Restaurant has been thru many changes to maintain it's quality and cater to current trend in f&b. You'll find a more attentive service and comfortable dining experience than years before. Food quality and taste still at its best with many variety of dishes and curries to offer. This original outlet here in Jalan Gasing still attracts lots of loyal customers from far and near and has been a gathering spot for family and people from nearby Bukit Gasing after their workout. It's a great breakfast spot.

Banana leaf ok ok only. Not so tasty and not so bad. Their three dishes not really tasty compare to others banana leaf rice. Their curry are too diluted. The only nice is their Papadam. 🤣 We able to finished the banana leaf rice is because we had ordered two fried mushroom. So, I personally would like to recommend their fried mushroom. It will increase your taste level indeed. Don’t ever miss this dish. For their lassi, sorry to say that not nice. Their mango lassi a bit bitter. Don’t know why. Maybe some will say not much sugar added. Or some may say is over fermented. But for me as a lassi lover, sorry la. This is not my cup of lassi. Hopefully next time I come can change my review rating. Keep it up!

The best banana leaf I’ve tried so far in PJ area. Going to lotus after awhile because they were closed for renovation for some time. I would say now it’s much more spacious , bright , well lighted. 😍 As usual I ordered their famous banana leaf set which comes with 3 vegetables and papadum. They have 4 varieties of curries on each table so it’s really easy to choose which one you prefer . I also ordered Chicken 65 and mutton varuval to pair with the meals . Their chicken 65 was made fresh and was hot when served . Chicken was boneless and tender . Mutton varuval was spicy and it was in medium quantity , I really like the flavour . The pricing was more on the high end because each banana set meal is RM12 each , chicken 65 was RM11 and the mutton varuval was RM17 per plate . 💰 Overall , for the service , air conditioning and everything I would say it’s worth it 👍🏻

When we think celebrations, Lotus Family Restaurant (Gasing) is always our first option and it never disappoints. Celebrated my son's birthday a week ago. From the starter to the dessert the quality and tastes of everything was outstanding. I have to say, I enjoyed every single bite of the meal that we ordered. Considering the quality, the price is reasonable. The atmosphere is really pleasant. They done beautiful renovation very recently and ideal for those who want to have their private room for the family or small group functions. Service was delightful. I can't wait to return and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for family private function and their yummy meals. Thank you and well done to the management for the overall great experience.Keep it up Lotus👍👍👍

One of the old establishment of PJ. They serve nice banana leaf rice. It is always busy. Service is now very good. Friendly and attentive. The only issue with this place is the car park. They have parking spaces for you at the side of the restaurant but it is busy during peak hour. Maybe it is safer to park a bit further way and walk.

Was planning to go to Raju but closed. End up this place. Environment very spacious. Product / Food no doubt is good. Service is good but I think can be better. One worker without uniform was far much better serving me when I requested for extra rice. Price, I think a bit on the high side. Banana leaf rice with chicken and sotong for one person + tosai + teh tarik halia + teh o ice limau = RM49.00. Overall good place to eat banana leaf rice.

Ordered puri for breakfast. Supposedly puri is puffy like balloon and soft. This is like harden thin crust. I suspect it was leftovers from the previous night. Customer service minus 2 stars. Very very bad service from waiter to cashier. I hope the owner takes note of this. Otherwise good luck to losing more customers.

This is not my 1st visit, have been visiting since high school! After renovation, the restaurant is very clean and spacious, with air conditioning. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, took our orders and cleaned the table, then immediately served us cutlery. I tried Cheese naan (RM9) and Appom set (RM6) and Masala Chai Tea (RM6) Cheese naan was soft and fluffy, pair it with the variety of curries! Mutton curry is delicious! Appom is THE BEST! Love pairing it with the coconut milk! You can order single slice or in set (2 slice). Overall it might be at a higher price as compared to other indian/ mamak store, but it is very worth it!! Make sure to try out!

Been a while since we came here and pleasantly surprised to see how seating has improved. Bustling as ever. Our waiter was attentive and addressed our needs. Fish curry could be thicker?

Impressed with the wait staff. Food was good but the rice was already room temperature, so combined with the room temperature curries it didn't give the combination justice.

You will have a good time here, with the banana leaf set at RM12. They refilled our rice and vegetables once. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I love thosai as much as I love sotong kurma. Amazing! Customer service is good. and you can dine in air-conditioning.

Well known to locals here, with a long history of 40+ years. Love their Tosei Rawa and Tosei Masala. Fast and good service. I came here 7 years ago for the first time. Good to come after hiking at Gasing too. I would like to introduce here to expats too.

Banana leaf Indian food. Mutton is hard, not fresh mutton meat. Pompodom is soft.

Love love love the Banana Leaf Rice and dishes. We had friend chicken, fish curry and mutton curry. All were amazing. The BLR set had lovely vegetables too. I totally recommend the Indian Rice (parboiled rice) not only it is healthier, but it tasted great too. Had iced barley drink and it was simly refreshing. Although we went during busy time (at 1pm), service was fast and the waiters were very friendly (unlike in some places where servers become moody during busy times) - this shows they hired enough workers 👏🏼♥️. Great as that is good practice (not overworking staff). Totally recommend their BLR. Much better than Nirvana Maju & Kanna Curry House (where the fried fish / chicken is usually overcooked) and the vegetables not so nice. Don't forget to ask for mango pickles and the dried chilis. The only downside is had to order the crispy bitter gourd separately (it didn't come with the BLR set like in some places). Not a deal breaker though. Keep it up!

Lotus Family Restaurant: A Delightful Banana Leaf Breakfast Experience As a loyal customer of Lotus Family Restaurant, I have had the pleasure of indulging in their delicious breakfast offerings on numerous occasions. This charming establishment, known for its banana leaf dining experience, has consistently impressed me with its diverse menu options and attentive service. One of the highlights of my visits to Lotus Family Restaurant is their flavorful masala thosai. The thin and crispy rice and lentil pancake is generously filled with a tantalizing blend of spiced potatoes and onions. The combination of aromatic spices and the soft texture of the thosai creates a burst of flavors with every bite. It never fails to satisfy my craving for a hearty and authentic South Indian breakfast. In addition to the masala thosai, Lotus Family Restaurant also offers other breakfast delights such as chapati. The freshly made flatbread, cooked to perfection, is soft and slightly chewy. It pairs exceptionally well with a variety of curries and chutneys that are served alongside. The simplicity of the dish allows the flavors to shine through, making it a comforting and satisfying choice. To complement these delectable breakfast dishes, Lotus Family Restaurant serves a range of refreshing beverages, including their famous mango lassi. The thick and creamy yogurt-based drink is infused with the sweet and tangy essence of ripe mangoes. With each sip, I am transported to a tropical paradise, savoring the rich flavors and smooth texture. It serves as the perfect accompaniment to any breakfast choice, providing a refreshing contrast to the spicier elements of the meal. The service at Lotus Family Restaurant is truly commendable. The staff members are friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist with any requests or inquiries. Their warm hospitality creates a welcoming and comfortable dining atmosphere, making each visit a pleasant experience. While I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Lotus Family Restaurant, there is one minor aspect I wish could be improved—the masala tea. Though it is a flavorful and fragrant beverage, I personally prefer a stronger kick of spices in my cup. However, this is merely a matter of personal preference, as the masala tea still remains a satisfying choice for those seeking a warm and comforting drink. In conclusion, Lotus Family Restaurant is a gem when it comes to breakfast dining experiences. From the flavorful masala thosai to the delightful chapati and the refreshing mango lassi, the menu offers a wide variety of choices to suit every palate. The attentive service provided by the staff adds an extra touch of warmth to the overall experience. While the masala tea could use a bit more spice, it does not overshadow the overall excellence of this establishment. I highly recommend Lotus Family Restaurant for anyone in search of a delightful and authentic banana leaf breakfast.

Very yummy banana leaf rice. Super comfortable and delicious food, there's even aircond inside! Their curries are supper yummy! Though overall can be a bit pricey The only problem here is the parking is so hard to get, need to park by the roadside and have the risk of kena saman

So far had a good experience dining there. Food was good expecially Crab Curry although it is tad salty but after mix with rice, it was just right. Chicken Peratal was not up to par though. Might need to improve on that perhaps. Overall 4 stars!

Was very hungry so decided to stop by because it was near to me. They did up the place since I last came here. Pretty decent. Very nice. Lotsa friendly staff. Had roti kosong and thosai. Both are decent. Not the best. Can get better down the road. Teh Tarik was surprisingly good. Tenggiri was so so. I shd come back and try the banana leaf one day.

What people told me . The big banana leaf they serve . The good is the foods and services. But here I see . Customers are Raja. I was coming with my wife . And the services here are a bit slow and mess. I'm seeing the server are choosing who they serve. But I'm ok with it. Because .. u know.

Good banana leaf meal. Bru special was good. Chicken pepper masala gravy was nice. Prawn sambal was abit sour. Parking can be abit hard to find. Price slightly higher compare other restaurants nearby.

I've passed by many times Lotus before but never got to dining in. One morning enroute, I noticed a parking lot and so I decided to have a simple breakfast of roti canai with teh tarik. The ambiance was nice, with soothing music at the background. The waiters were dressed in uniform. Service was polite and fast. I could not believe that with a restaurant feel, this place could still change similar price to that of a normally mamak shop. The roti was crispy ( a good indication of a shop is when they can prepare the simple food well ) and the dhal was delightful ( thick tangy gravy) . Great work!
