I'm completely in love with this lock. I stumbled upon it quite by accident when I was out for a drive. The staff there keep it looking like a sweet super well cared for cottage. They even have a small vegetable garden that they tend! It's a great place to learn about how our lock system works and you can even camp there!

Very clean and lovely to go through the lock and enjoy the waterway. Great staff at the lock.

It's nice, you can have a bunch of families or groups of friends here and still socially distance (and then some). Hubby and I like to bring our chairs and put them in the water. The waters pretty dirty, we wouldn't swim in it, but it's fine to just dip our feet in. Very calm and relaxng.

Great place to have a picnic. We were lucky enough to catch a boat go through.

The River Road along the canal is very lovely. Unfortunately some people use a picnic areas over the summer and have no idea of social distancing. There is beautifully made rotary Trail parallelling the river which is great for cycling or walking one's dog.!!

I cycled along the Waterway from Lakefield after leaving my car parked across from Home Hardware in free parking space . I cycled down the scenic highway to Trent University after visiting most of the Locks along the way. The Staff were friendly at each Lock, and one Attendant even gave me a bottle of cold water when I asked if I could purchase some there. I used the Highway rather than adjacent Trail because the Canal was visible from the Highway, and was designated for dual use. I crossed the Canal at the University to explore over there, but returned to Lakefield by the same route. It is a 20 K ride and most enjoyable.
