I've been training jiu jitsu since 1999 and trained all over America and in Brazil. This school is a top 3 favorite of any school were I've ever trained. I think there is no other comparison for pure jiu jitsu training in Phuket. I don't think Ben, the owner, knows just what a great environment he has developed at his school. There were people training from all over the world, multiple UFC fighters there and even an ADCC gold medalist. It was technical but most importantly SAFE training. Really fun and I can't recommend this school enough. Ben, thanks so much for your hospitality and the great training with you and all of the great training partners I had the pleasure of training with there.

Good place to train! There's a laid-back welcoming atmosphere, and a good group of disciplined high quality individuals. The grappling instruction is modern and high-level.

Phuket Grappling is a wonderful place if you are willing to learn BJJ. Ben is probably the best grappler on the Island and the team is very strong, you can find a lot of professionals as well as amateurs, like me. Everyone is very nice to each other and no spazziness or overblown ego was there only great technical sparring, sometimes hard sometimes flow rolling with a lot of improvement and development on the technique. I was staying 15 km away, and in a week I rode there by bike twice, because I really liked it there.

Trained in a bunch of gyms in Thailand and feel like PGA's mix of skill levels make it ideal for all levels of grappler, whilst the intimate setting allow the coaches pay more attention to each student and maximise your skill progression during your time on the matts. Best grappling room in Phuket hands down.

I’m a black belt from the Uk and have been travelling around Thailand looking for top quality training. I’m now in Phuket and I’m so happy I found PGA as this place has everything I need, the coaching is high level, the sparring is high level and the energy and vibe with everyone makes this place a perfect training environment. Even fighters from all over the island and different academies come here to train.

I feel like I've learnt so much in such a short amount of time here at Phuket Grappling Academy. The coaches are very knowledgeable and are patient with their students. And the atmosphere is just what I'm looking for in a BJJ gym.

As a beginner I did the "Introduction to BJJ course" and I can't be more happy about this. It's been now 3 months that I am training in this gym and every single training was amazing. Cannot recommend this place enough! Anyone unsure where to train their grappling in phuket look no further as this is as good as it gets. The facilities are great with huge mat space, gym area, showering facilities etc and even a smoothie/milkshake bar for post training energy with cold water for sale as well. The wrestling class is focused towards techniques that will work in NoGi grappling and MMA with sparring centred around improving your grappling goals and not based on a 'wrestling ruleset'. This is great addition to the 'traditional bjj style gym' with a friendly coach passionate about teaching and learning. As for NoGi the coaches are not only incredibly knowledgable but can perform the techniques they teach against high level competition. Even when classes are full the coaches ensure to spend time helping everyone that needs individual question and are happy to answer questions. The prices at the time I believe was was 400 baht drop in free, 1500 baht for one week and 4000 baht for one month which is far better than the more 'well known' gyms. Highly enjoyed my time here and believe anyone would also.

Traveled too many grappling gyms and trained in Austin with some of the best. PGA is one of the best gyms I've trained at and an added bonus is Ben the head coach teaches most classes

This is definitely the best gym in Phuket for (Nogi) Grappling. Ben is such a nice guy and all the members are high level grappler. Don’t worry if you are new in JJ, they definitely take care of you. I‘m very excited for the new facility and the upgrade on the schedule with wrestling.

Dropped in at a couple of gyms around Phuket and this was definitely the best one. Really enjoyed my time here, not only is the instruction modern, programmed intentionally, and high level, but the training environment is outstanding. Everyone is willing to train hard but also smart, good mix of levels, it feels like a real community. Ben and the instructors make sure of that vibe regardless of how long you are staying. Ben is also a genuinely kind individual who really goes the extra mile in taking his job as an instructor and fostering a great gym seriously.

Ben is an awesome coach with a wealth of high level BJJ and MMA experience to draw from, can't wait to head back to Phuket and train under him again!

Great level of grapplers at PGA. I am a white belt but learning at an accelerated pace around such great grapplers. I am able to practice no gi twice a day which I really appreciate. Safe environment to learn if you are new and also a great place to roll with high level grapplers if you are a seasoned practitioner. I watched the children's class before the adult class and the children have a better basic knowledge than most adult gyms I have gone to. Very happy to have found this gym.

The best no-go grappling gym I’ve ever trained at and by far the best in Phuket (having lived in Rio and also trained at Tiger and the other more “well known” gyms here in Phuket) Owned by black belt and One Championship fighter Ben Royle, Ben could not be a nicer, more helpful or more knowledgeable coach. Greatest Grappling Academy in Phuket. After training multiples times at different gym (Tiger Muay Thai, Phuket Fight Club etc) I can definitely say that Phuket Grappling Academy has the best curriculum and really good level. My teammates are straight up savages on the mat and they make you feel part of the team from day one

Discovered this gym after hearing so many good things about the coach and quality of training partners from fellow BJJ practitioners. Having tried plenty of gyms in Phuket on previous visits, I gave it a shot and wasn't disappointed. The classes combine technical + positional work plus lots of quality roles for all levels. I found the mat to be full of different body types and skill levels to train with, and everyone was extremely friendly with me from the minute I stepped into the gym. The Coach, Ben Royle, made every class feel progressive, challenging and fun. His way of explaining and demonstrating techniques really helped me pick up things much faster than normal, and you could tell he is passionate about helping all his students get better at BJJ.

I would recommended this gym to anyone who live or planing to come train in Phuket :) Best for all level of grappler ! Coach by MMA fighter who has a great back ground in Grappling. Easy access and many parking space. Personally I really like the atmosphere of the training room where people from all over the world gather to improve their skill and enjoy training together. Sometime there is also mini super fight sparing in class which I found it really fun.
