The food and the staff was amazing! The food was exceptional and the clam chowder was like a bowl of warm hug. Had an amazing time. If anyone wants to relax and have a good time you need to visit this place. They have amazing food. So glad I went there. Will be visiting soon.

I have been coming here since 2018 and their customer service has continuously improved. I love coming here for breakfast and dessert. Has a wide selection of wines. It has a stunning interior. Great environment for friends and families, or even if you’re looking for an intimate yet casual date spot! During the most recent visit, I was served by one of the sweetest and caring servers ever! She made me feel like at home and truly cared whether my food was made right or not. I went there after recovering from COVID-19 for some soup and my best friend went for some yummy pasta. Although the pasta was on the greasier side, my soup was really tasty and it confirmed that my taste buds were working properly again :)

Love this place. My boyfriend and I go here all the time for brunch. There’s a server named Hannah who always helps us find new yummy dishes. She is very nice aswell. We always appreciate her being our server. we will be back !

I came here for the first time with my friend and let me tell you… BEYOND EXCELLENT SERVICE!! We both come from a customer service background and our server Trista, seriously surpassed any of our expectations. I would even go as far to say that she is in my top 10 of all time best dining experiences. We chose here based off of google reviews so were very pleased that the establishment and service lived up to the hype. The location is cozy and cute. The food was great (really appreciated Trista’s recommendations, especially when my rose pasta wasn’t exactly on the menu, it was a substitution of a meal that turned out great!). Would definitely recommend leaving room for dessert! The management also comes by to check on you which is nice. Overall 10/10 and will 100% be coming back. Thank you!

Note: been here many times since my first review and was a wonderful experience every time. Rayne the server was very attentive and looked after our table well the last time we were there. Was busy for a week day at 1pm. Was told service was going to be slow and it took 1 hour for the food to arrive but we expected that. I had the clam chowder and eggs Benedict, and both were very good. The Italian soda was really good too. Nice atmosphere, friendly service.

Symposium has always been our go to place for good food and great vibes especially when celebrating. And today did not disappoint! Breakfast was great and our server Jalyssa surprised my hubby with a birthday brownie! Thank you!

Stopped in for lunch with a few friends - first time but know others have been here and enjoyed it. Their menu is pretty big - two large plastic covered pages - and includes a good variety. I got a California chicken sandwich and loved it. They made a mistake on one of our orders but were able to bring out the right thing not long after. The staff were friendly and helpful. We’ll be back.

I have been to this restaurant a few times, great food each time as well as great portion sizes. The food was very tasty and the ambiance and service are great aswell. I recommend the Portuguese chicken. Looking forward to trying their brunch menu in the future.

Always a lovely experience here! The staff are so friendly, and the owner walks around to check on everything. The atmosphere feels upscale but it's definitely comfort food, and the prices are reasonable. My mom and I always drop by for lunch after Costco!

First time trying the Ajax location, and was pleasantly surprised with all the variety in their menu, on top of being very accommodating to our dietary restrictions, and the food was great. We sat inside and felt quite safe (covid regulations being thoroughly followed), although I noticed their patio is quite nice as well, I didn't notice how big it was until we were already sitting down but would love to sit outside next time if the weather cooperates. The service was very good, and the waiter was particularly sweet and attentive with our two year-old. Would recommend!

Dropped in after a workout at goodlife and loved that they were open late on a Monday, one of the only places. Amazing environment and energetic staff to serve and help even at 11pm at night. The burger i ordered was juicy and the sauce was good and staff consistently took care of the table with anything.

Waitress was attentive and sweet. American-style diner vibes. I recommend the chicken fingers! Crispy and juicy! The mojito pitcher was a little too sweet for me but the food was splendid! Cafe is also open late night for dessert lovers!

Dined in here and also took some takeout. We ordered the cheddar broccoli soup, spinach dip, chicken parm sandwich. Everything tasted great and the service was awesome also. Will definitely be coming back as it’s very conveniently located as well. I love their extended menu, so many choices and options to choose from which makes it perfect for picky eaters also. The staff are very polite and attentive which adds to the experience.

Mediocre, photos make it look a lot better than it is. Cut and paste bland recipies and the most dry French toast you will ever have... The service was amazing though so that gives this place the 3 star rating, plus it is also clean. Maybe the deserts save this place, but I'm not willing to try a 1100 cal piece of cake or a 1900 cal cookie pan...

Always enloy a visit to Symposium in Ajax. Staff is friendly, service is great and the restaurant is clean. The Symposium Burger is my favourite and I've never been disappointed with it.

Love it here! I’ve been coming for years and you can’t go wrong. This time, for lunch. I loved the cappuccino it was literally the best. Better, they have tons of dairy alternative options so I got a lactose free drink! The chicken sandwich was insane, will definitely be back

Beautiful cafe with great food and friendly service. The fish tacos were absolutely amazing, and the butter chicken was very great as well. Service was quick, food didn't takeong at all. Would definitely recommend stopping by here if you need a quick lunch or dinner!

An excellent choice for meals in Ajax. WAAAY cheaper than Keg and you get very fresh food. The fish tacos and fish and chips were excellent. They made sure everything was to our liking. They redid the fruit smoothie to ensure had no ice chunks. Overall a very good restaurant for family or dates.

This tops it, this is the All-time worst restaurant experience I've ever had in my life. I took my parents out for a late lunch on Saturday, and after we were seated the rudest and most unprofessional slew of servers came one after the other, the food was horrible, the management was very rude when we tried to complain and worst of all the baked spinach dip was ice cold and did not taste or look like any spinach dip I'd ever had before. Bad food, worse service.

I attended for dinner with a girlfriend and we were lucky to have Hannah as our server. She was extremely friendly, genuine and professional. She made helpful suggestions for choosing menu items, she was prompt and attentive to our table and consistently pleasant throughout. Highly recommend coming here for the food, service and ambiance.

I’m a loyal customer of Symposium! My family of 5 including 2 babies love going for breakfast. Customer service has always been on par with our needs from the time we step in the door . We have now had the pleasure of having the same waitress couple of times and we’ve enjoyed her serving with kindness and efficiency. Thank you Natasha for making it easy to eat our great tasting food with two babies. We always leave with a belly full and a smile on our faces We’ll be back soon !!

I stopped to have breakfast here and it was pretty good. I got their classic breakfast 3-egg breakfast (forgot to take a picture). I had their hot chocolate which was super good. We were served by Isabelle who was fantastic! She was polite, and efficient and ordered everything perfectly. She did not forget any of the extra requests. Would definitely come back here again!

This location is amazing!! Jaime was our server and she was a joy to have! She was so patient, kind, and didn’t get anything wrong. She made my moms birthday dinner so much fun! I come here all the time for breakfast on the weekends and I’m pleased to say that I always have a good dining experience with my son, man or friends. Today I had the pleasure of meeting Sarah our waitress who is super sweet and was very attentive to our needs. The staff are very polite and ensures everyone is comfortable and enjoying themselves! Also their carrot cake is amazing!! You must try it if you ever dine here

We had brunch here. Service was great. Ambience was great. Food was decent - fresh and tasted okay just not anything special. Costed about $40 after tip for two people not including drinks.

First time visiting Symposium Cafe...the Fish Tacos were bug and filling. Asked them to make it spicy and they did a great job. The portion of the Chicken Tenders were 7 huge pieces! Bring friends to help eat the 7 layer chocolate cake...the leftover piece barely fit in the box. Our server Trista was so friendly and attentive....will definitely visit again.

Pretty disappointed with our Mother’s Day dinner here today. Given it was Mother’s Day, we knew it was going to be busy so we rsvp’d ahead of time. They only allowed reservations to be made 4PM, 6PM and 8PM. Ideally the best time for us is 5PM due to having younger children and early bedtimes. So unfortunately the 6PM and 8PM didn’t work, we had to go for an early dinner at 4PM. Nevertheless, we showed up right on time and was so surprised how crammed they packed the restaurant. We were seated close to the entrance which was so busy with people passing by. They brought in outside furniture to accommodate more people inside, which crowded the restaurant. We ended up having to sit on patio chairs which were super uncomfortable because they were so low and deep in comparison to the table, it literally hurt our backs to sit and eat - see photo. We were the only table with these chairs so we felt awkward and judged. We also asked for a high chair ahead of time but it wasn’t set up so we had to wait a while since the servers were busy and then awkwardly shift around once it came. The food was mediocre, we did enjoy the dry shrimp. Our waitress was nice but she was unwilling to switch us to a difference table when we asked. When we received the small plates for appetizers, 3 plates were actually dirty - as seen in the photo - there were strawberries stuck to it which was a turn off. The food was OK but not worth $200+. Overall, we enjoyed our first experience at this restaurant Oct 2022 but today’s experience was horrible. We felt super bad for my parents and grandmother because their backs were hurting from the chairs. I’m hoping today was a one-off given it was Mother’s Day, but we definitely will not be returning any time soon.

Today is my birthday and I chose to go to symposium because of the chicken and waffles! Really delicious! I enjoyed my special dinner with friends and family, and our server Jennifer was outstanding! She made us feel comfortable and was great with my son, who's four. The manager Jasmine, who got everyone together for my birthday tune, was also an amazing singer! I really feel a relaxing ambiance when I come to symposium and there's always nice music playing! Check this place out for a cozy spot to catch up with your bff, or a fabulous family feast!

We went for brunch and decided on breakfast with a couple latte and dessert. Place was great very friendly server Thomas and service was exceptional. Food portions were very good as well. We will be back.

Dinned here on a Monday afternoon with a friend. Clean patio/ indoor dining area. Great options for vegetarians. Lots of options in general to make anyone happy. Service was a little slow but from my observations that was due to lack of waiting staff. A couple Managers/ Supervisors were walking the floors ensuring patrons had what the needed and helped us out a couple times. I will be a returning patron for sure!

My girlfriend and I came in this morning and honestly it was great. We are new to Durham region from Toronto so we decide to look up a good place to eat for breakfast and found this spot… Not knowing anything about it we tried it out and let me tell you we were not disappointed from the customer service to the food everything was amazing thank you Jake for making our experience wonderful we will definitely be there again soon !

Great place to eat! Fresh, hot food and continuous cups of coffee! I hadn't seen a friend in over a year and we were able to sit comfortably and chat without being rushed out or constantly interrupted. I will highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a casual, relaxed environment to enjoy a tasty meal! The eggs benny was DYNAMITE! We will be back for sure!

The meal and company were great, the desserts were sub-par, and given that they used to be known for their desserts it was really disappointing, everyone at our table, all of whom got different desserts were all disappointing and none were finished. But the meals were top notch, really tasty!

First time here... stopped in for some apps and drinks for happy hour. Took a little bit to get our drinks but other than that the service was good. The food was just okay. We had the Calamari and vegetable Flatbread. The calamari came with the red seafood sauce..nothing special..tasted like out of the jar. I definitely prefer an aioli sauce with my calamari though. Flatbread had a good amount of veg on it and tasted good.

Symposium is lovely! Jennifer was serving and she was so attentive, chris as well, he always checked on us to ensure our experience was amazing. Would definitely recommend! Ps. The crème brûlée cheesecake is to die for!

Really nice staff and quick service of food. Food was fresh with lots of flavour. The beer is a bit warm (Keiths) and red wine sangria was watered down. It seems like they poured the sangria from a tap instead of freshly made. They take too long to serve a drink. The cheesy '80s music didn't sound good especially for a Friday evening. Nonetheless, the food is good.
