Nice and quiet. Good place for fresh air and walk. Only draw back is a lots mosquitoes in the summer.

Urban forest with marked trails and contains an active beaver pond. Some of the plank walks over the wetter sections are in need of repair/replacement. An oasis of green surrounded by subdivisions!

If you like snakes, don't come to this park, we only got cool birds, different frogs, and irregular insects💯

Be careful of the wildlife I.E. Coyotes etc.. Especially if you have with you, children or dogs.

We entered the Altona Forest from the West side (opposite Pine Grove rd). The parking was filthy - there were flies on the garbage can which was overflowing with trash and the small parking lot was littered all over. The trail itself is not well maintained in that it is not easily discernible with the wilderness crawling all over, making tough to be on track. Perhaps with some TLC this could be a true forest away from city life.
